I think juggernauts are one of the most diverse subgroups

in terms of actually having a niche vs "having" a niche like a lot of divers are supposed to but don't really

Darius exceeds best for teamfight comps, especially if his team can set him up to carry them Illaoi probably the best disincentive for engage comps in the game, next to zyra. undoubtedly top tier counter-engage Garen most assassin-like of the group, decent at taking out priority targets Trundle can remove an enemy tank from the game while making himself impossible to kill Mordekaiser magic damage carry, is best equipped for replacing conventional bot lane carry Shyvana hybrid between diver/juggernaut, is a monster at taking objectives DrMundo regen monster, makes you waste your time hitting him and ignoring his team only to heal it all back up

Nasus / Yorick kind of share the same role but i would say that Nasus can put a lot more pressure on one lane once he has stacks, where Yorick makes up for it by being able to pressure multiple lanes. Nasus is also a very strong anti-carry b/c of wither

i think Udyr and Volibear currently struggle with an identity for themselves now that they've been outpaced and are alongside Garen the most in need of immediate changes to modernize them some more. garen/udyr recent buffs were nice but I doubt Riot is keen on letting them actually be powerful until they can rework them to be better

I have no idea what to do with Udyr since he kinda competes with Shyvana for the same role of strong counterjungling/objective games, his role is usually just to be as annoying as possible. I think Voli should be pushed as the most 'tank'-like of the bunch where he's very durable, has a little bit of crowd control and has windows of power where he becomes a damage threat, which is the opposite of most other juggs. this would make him worth picking as the best suited for front-lining in fights, without making him too much like a tank that he's only a CC bot

i know a lot of these champs are pretty old and need modernizing, and a lot of them are very weak right now, but i just think it's impressive how well they sort themselves out into unique reasons to be picked, even with minimal interference on riot's part, hope this continues when these guys get much needed buffs/changes.

ps Olaf is not diver filth he is a proud juggernaut ubermensch

Illaoi can mess up the whole enemy team if they try to engage onto her. Illaoi "You cannot hide!"

Gotta love when a blitz pulls her into his team

And then the Jarvan ults her.

yeah that's what i meant; she's got insane counter-engage, definitely one of the best at it

overall i'm quite pleased with most juggs, they're very much not generalists and tend to come in and out with meta shifts, more than any other group does, i think. Darius is probably the only one who's constantly good, but teamfight comps will never be bad

i just wish riot would let some of the other juggs be good for a change, they've been quite weak as a group for a while now

Illaoi has never been meta and probably never will as shes got her own niche.

i don't agree, she's doing quite well for herself right now

Illaoi is a champion who works extremely well in particular circumstances, she just needs that to be the meta for her to naturally appear as a counter to it

but her biggest problem, like all juggernauts, is how so many tanks, supports, and even a couple of bruisers just get so much crowd control, it's getting kind of ridiculous these days

I agree with the cc. Its ridiculous how much is in the game right now.

She was meta a few months after her release with item 3053 and item 3812

Yeah. Udyr is unique I think because he can be played around magic damage or physical damage. So if your team is all AD you can Udyr or whatever. He also is the most slippery of the juggernauts. I think Udyr is the most mobile out of all the juggernauts (watching Trick2g lol)

Volibear needs some changes. When casting his ult he feels like a juggernaut cause he ROARR but afterwards it's just little lightning vfx like okay...

ya, udyr's got really nice flexibility between going for tiger's early game strength and 1v1 dominance or phoenix's much better split pushing and teamfighting. i just don't feel like he justifies being picked anymore, especially now that the game has changed so much in ways that are harmful to him (more CC, lower cooldown kiting etc). i'd like riot to buff him again because i miss when he was a staple jungler, now he's got abysmal play rates

agree on voli, he has problems imo both with lack of identity and just not feeling very cool. extremely underwhelming champion overall

I'd say Udyr's also similar to Shyvana in that he's kinda diver-y, since he's fairly mobile with his passive and E movespeed, alongside his E stun.
