Singed, The Mad Chemist [Champion Rework]

Little Stick Man··4 votes·1,486 views

Singed is a champion that feels like he was made for a different game. He's incredibly unique but his style of gameplay is frustrating to play against. I think the following kit changes would make him fit into League better while maintaining his identity of a master of poison that causes havoc on the battlefield.

**NOTE: **I've decided to leave numbers out of most of the abilities, because they're easily changed and easier to make something seem OP. I'd like to know what you think of these abilities kit wise.

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/7/77/Singed_OriginalSkin.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20141030220759

Example Build item 1324 item 3040 item 3027 item 3110 item 3116 item 3190

Passive: Eternal Curiosity Singed abilities passively cause enemies afflicted to take 10% increased damage for 5 seconds. Additionally, if Singed kills or assists in the kill of an enemy, he may click on their corpse to preform an experiment, after a short channel he will learn more about the effects of his poisons, gaining 10 AP permanently.

Thoughts Behind It: Singed current passive, Empowered Bulwark, converts 25% of his maximum mana into health. This passive is very...basic. While it does encourage building mana it seems redundant. Because singed is a tank specializing in magic damage and mana usage that needs to survive as long as possible, items like Frozen Heart and Seraph's Embrace are must have's anyways. This new passive is meant to make enemies more vulnerable to you and your team, and rewards Singed for surviving the skirmish with knowledge of his poisons effects on a body and some permanent AP.

Q: Fuming Vial Singed tosses a Fuming Vial at a target location, remaining for 10 seconds, that creates a cloud of poison dealing magic damage to all enemies within the cloud for 5 seconds as well as reducing enemies vision radius. Continual exposure dealings increasing damage staking 5 times. If singed is within the cloud he will gain increased physical damage and gain movement speed.

_Thoughts Behind It _: Singed current Q is a staple ability of the champion. However this is the main reason he's the running simulator. Having this ability is what encourages him to run away and cause enemies to chase him, dealing damage all the while. To me, this isn't what a master of battlefield havoc does. It's what a lunatic would do, surely. But Singed has a method to his madness so his lobbing Fuming Vials creating massive zones of poison to control where his opponents can go seems much more methodical and intelligent.

W: Mega Adhesive Singed lobs a vial of Mega Adhesive at a target location, slowing all enemies who walk over it for a moderate amount. If this ability lands directly on a target, they will be snared for a short duration and be dealt a small amount of magic damage.

Thoughts Behind It : I actually like this ability a lot for Singed, but the idea of reliably being able to toss someone into it to receive a snare is...ridiculous. Realistically, tossing a large amount of Mega Adhesive directly onto a target should lock them in place, while those running on top of it after it's been laid down would only be slowed.

E: Ingenious Concoction Singed shakes his Ingenious Concoction up to 3 times increasing the cost of this ability each time. Each shake gives a different effect when consumed.

First Shake/Pursuer Potion: Reduce damage taken by 20% for 4 seconds as well as increasing movement speed by 15%

Second Shake/Titan Potion: Increase damage dealt by 15% as well as armor and magic resist by 30

Third Shake/Juggernaut Potion: Increase movement speed by 50% for 2 seconds. Your next basic attack will stun the target for 1.5 seconds.

Thoughts Behind It: Singed current E - Fling doesn't make sense. For a Mad Chemist, who's used his own body as a testing ground for poisons and potions, why would he be flinging void beasts and warriors over his back? I think the shaking system, similar to Twisted Fate's Pick A Card would fit him much better and give him some options in a fight. It should be noted the mana cost of consuming the potion will increase significantly with each shake, the final shake would be costing up to 3 times what the first one would.

R: The Green Plague Singed flings his masterpiece, a vial of The Green Plague at a single target dealing a large amount of initial magic damage and a smaller amount over time to the afflicted target and nearby enemies. If the target comes within 500 units of an ally champion, The Green Plague will spread, dealing the same amount of initial magic damage to the new target and applying the DoT effect as well as the spreading effect. This effect will last 4 seconds on each target afflicted. Additionally, afflicted targets will turn green!

Thoughts behind it : I think this ability is the quintessence of Singed's identity. A masterful plague that causes absolute chaos on the battlefield, forcing enemies to flee from their own, or become infected themselves. While Singed's current R - Insanity Potion fits him well thematically, at the end of the day it only acts as a generic steroid increasing all of his stats. I feel that this ability would preserve his identity and add to it.

I love Singed and he's a very unique champion, I don't think he needs a rework as a champion, maybe a lore change, since his playstyle looks nothing like a chemist (before buying him, I thought he was a mage) This rework would be more fitting to his theme, but I think the original singed is good gameplay wise, with a messed up theme.

I mostly just find Singed boring. It's pretty funny to run around and piss people off with the poison trail but that gets old after awhile. If current Singed had an updated lore to make him like a guinea pig being ordered to test poisons and run around like a crazy asshole it'd make more sense but the gameplay would still be an issue to me.

Honestly, I love this.

I feel like it fits thematically much better with who Singed is as a champion.

I also really like the way this new Singed "feels," I 100% get the vibe of "Omg this guy is running rampant and his ult is so frustrating ugh" which I would hate to play against, but would love to play.

Well done sir!

Thanks! Singed has a lot of potential and I hope Riot looks at him someday.

idk how i feel about your proposed q here because honestly im attached to his current and love the current q, as for the passive i love your proposed passive here. my only problem with the entire thread is this statement:

tems like Frozen Heart and Seraph's Embrace are must have's anyways.

tbh as a singed player i feel seraphs and all the tear items on singed are honestly stupid to build and not worth it personally i think current singed should just be RoA rylai's liandry's fh 1 other tank item and boots.

Little Stick Man1 votes

I can see that being more viable for experienced Singed players like you, but for people not comfortable with Singed or new Singed players, tear items seem safer and less punishing for bad mana management

Sasogwa2 votes

This is a huge change, and I'm really not sure the gameplay change is worth it. It completely removes the old gameplay of Singed for those who loved it, and for that sheer reason I think these changes can simply not go through. Even Morde's rework who was a huge change, kinda killing the champion, is less of a change than this one.

Then, you say mana is built anyway on Singed even without the passive. Let me tell you, this is absolutely false. I've had some discussions with Singed mains, some being in diamond + and they told me pretty much the same thing : the only synergy Singed has with mana is its passive. Mana delays your build and it kinda sucks. Some don't even go for tear or roa; and rush double dorans into rylai/liandry. Going tear + roa actually sucks (some guy who mains singed really hard did the maths), because you'd rather have one more defensive items being able to bring resists, and if you want damage, liandrys is best. So you take only one of those.

PS : a lot of the reasons why Singed can afford to rush health items and no resists is the bonus resistances provided by the ult. If you remove that, it will fuck up Singed's overall durability (on top of the fact you already removed the passive). In this version of singed, you have no other defensive steroids than the first shake of E, which is quite weak compared to his former self. Depending on the range of your spells, your new Singed might be played as an AP carry. Btw, can you be more clear in the descriptions (Q, is it a high CD spell? What range, is the projectile fast? Are people blinded as long as they stay in the cloud?) potential 10s blind uhm...

Little Stick Man1 votes

Morde's rework made him more popular than ever. Like to the point where he was banned at worlds, i guess that could be killing a champion but he's still insanely popular. Also I meant for the Q to reduce vision radius not blind, think of graves smokescreen. Numbers were intentionally left out of this post because no matter what you put people flock to that for an OP marker. I'm not sure who these singed mains are but considering current signed NEEDS mana to have his Q on for a substantial amount of time during a chase or proxy or generally just to be singed in game, i think he synergizes with mana just fine even without his passive. As far as removing the old gameplay style...that was the point. Singed current gameplay revolves entirely around proxy farming, dying to the point where you're not worth gold, and generally being annoying and toxic to play against. Currently singed isn't a champion you need to be very skilled at mechanically. He's just the running simulator.

You really shouldn't use Mordekaiser as a justification of reworking a champions skill set.

Remember how's their no such thing as bad publicity? That's a lie. Either forms of publicity make you popular, but it can still be bad or good. Look at Riven Vayne or Darius. They are popular champions, they get complained about a lot. Ever think people see these complaints and think, "Easy champ to pwn people with? Score."

I know I've crushed my fair share of Fiora's with Pantheon due to this mentality. Because they never came back.

Little Stick Man1 votes

how does fiora ever lose against panth? panth's stun is insanely easy to parry

Ralanr1 votes

Who said anything about stunning? Shield blocks vitals.

Little Stick Man1 votes

So let's say the fio you're facing isn't retarded. If she pops your shield with a basic, then goes for the vital. When you jump in the air as panth and she parries it and stuns you instead, you're fucked. What rank are you playing at?

Ralanr1 votes
  1. I said I've crushed Fiora's who have probably followed the mentality of "Easy champ, easy game!"
  2. I make sure to stack my passive when fighting her. Making it so I get a second up immediately after one falls.
  3. Normals. I don't want the stress of ranked. Upside: I get to practice match ups because I play blind and thus can't ban champions. Downside: I can't ban champions.
Little Stick Man1 votes

I'm not sure why you're bragging about crushing players who literally don't know how to play the champion and just picked it because they heard it was op lol. Also if you have 1 shield ready and it gets popped, either you jump on her to try and refresh it or auto/spell cast 4 times to get the second, so either she'll parry it if they've played fio before or you'll be taking Vitals harass. Try ranking up, people tend to try to play champions they know. It doesn't really matter if you've "crushed" hundreds of shitter fioras, it matters if you can do that against someone who knows how to play her. The same goes for riven, vayne, and darius.

Ralanr1 votes

Sigh I was explaining that just because a champion is popular doesn't mean it's a good thing.

Also, I can stack my passive up to 3, then use W to have my shield while having my 3 stacks. Allowing for me to just need one hit to gain another stack as soon as it breaks. Combine that with Pantheon's powerful poke and execution, he is able to shut her down in lane.

After that is anyones game cause Pantheon falls off.

Little Stick Man1 votes

The issue comes when using that W, 100% of the time fio should be able to reflect that. Pantheons poke is pretty good against someone who can't constantly poke back with true damage and heal.

Ralanr1 votes

Yes, a reflect that has a longer cooldown than a stun. And it is a great poke, due to it's distance and unavoidability once thrown. She could use her W to reflect it, then she'd get stunned because Pantheon's W range is equal if not close to the range of his Q. Then he'd E, which does double damage to champions. Forcing Fiora to retreat because she might be at a health disadvantage, or try and fight on and risk getting insta killed when she reaches 15% or below health.

Mind you this is all before level 6 and in her laning phase.

Little Stick Man1 votes

I can't imagine fiora wasting one of the most broken abilities in the game on his spear shot. If pantheon throws the spear then jumps on her right after, the parry would absorb all of that within the 0.75 second window. Her ult just makes the dueling even crazier if you pop a vital then use ult to basically hit the same spot 2 times.

Hence why I said before 6. And her vitals are randomly generated.

Little Stick Man1 votes

Did you know: If Fiora's Vital target enters the fog of war the Vital mark will change positions. Basically, if we're laning and there's a Fiora, she can go to tower real quick to change the position of the Vital mark. If it's behind you, she can step away and make it rotate to be in front of you.

Ralanr1 votes

Yeah. And you can move out of her range to change it as well.

Little Stick Man1 votes

Well now we're in a logic loop.

Ralanr1 votes

Is there even a point to this discussion anymore? Can we not agree to disagree?

Little Stick Man1 votes

yeah i can take that, i wish you the best on the rift

While this is a great idea and would fit thematically you'd have to take Singed players into account. What you proposed completely changes him and he would be Karma all over again. And no one wants Riot to pull out a Karma on their favorite champion.

But I think this'd be a great idea for a new champion. Other than having a Vlad ult as his passive (this miiiight be a bit overpowered, it should be 5% at most), everything is very well thought out.

Little Stick Man2 votes

The Karma case was harrowing that was just a major fuck up on Riots part kind of like the whole Morde thing, but old Karma and old Morde wasn't problematic or boring unlike Singed. Singed a truly an oddity, no one fights like him because he doesn't really fight. He just kind of trolls around, dying and proxying his way to victory.

iamleburk1 votes

Morde was pretty boring before hand

Krizalid2 votes

I really like Singed as a character, but I've always thought that his gameplay is pretty boring. This rework is pretty interesting though, great job.

PraetorAmalthus1 votes

I have to admit that These are nice ideas, but i would like them on a new champ. The Laugh and Rund style is basically singeds indentity, he loves nothing more than run over the field spreading his poisonous inventions over the enemy Team causing them to die slow and painfully while laughin in madness. i have to admit that i dont see a sense in his e than to fck with peoples nerves. srsly i have the Feeling the only reason they added his laugh to his e was a psycho-trick, throwing People and triggering your laugh creates a I WANNA SHUT THAT ANNOYING FCKER DOWN Feeling causing his enemies to chase him but well...he throws only to increase their hate for him and also their will to chase him which leads to the Goal of the singed Player, to Keep them in his poison so there IS a Motivation behind the e. anyways, great ideas ^^

Little Stick Man1 votes

I think a lot of Singed's identity has reached meme status, kind of like Teemo, so it's unlikely he'll ever be changed. Thanks anyways!

Social Justice 11 votes

...Isn't that passive basically what Vlad's ultimate does?

that's what plagues do in general

plagues are rough man, just ask Europe

Ralanr1 votes

I'm not a Singed main, but I love his passive.

Little Stick Man1 votes

I just want to see more interactions with corpses in League, god knows we have enough champions who are all about the dead.

Ralanr1 votes

Yorick

I really hope he'll be able to do something like that.

Little Stick Man1 votes

I saw an idea that he should be able to bury ally corpses, so they can respawn right where they died and I thought that was really interesting.

Ralanr1 votes

That'd be interesting. Infuriating late game, but interesting.

Little Stick Man1 votes

Basically a free postmortem teleport lol

Lugg1 votes

I love Singed the way he is. Taunting and baiting people to chase you is really fun. Plus the throw is epic when you toss them over a wall.

However, I do think this would be great on a new champion.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Impressive display of forethought; but I'm content with him currently as is. Especially since their previous reworks (sona, sion, cassiopia, mordekaiser, skarner, ext) have been atrociously inept in execution. However, if he is entirely overhauled, this would be how I'd like him to be changed :D
