Riot must be a wonderful place to work for.
Not only do I constantly hear good things about the company from employees, but, if the balance team is any indication, they even let you drink on the job.

You've reminded me of a certain post from Ghostcrawler. When I read this, I just couldn't stop giggling.
I just said that you can blame me for anything on League that you don't like. It's my job to make the game good and my fault when it is not.
But that doesn't mean I walk into champ designer meetings and say "NERF ANNIE!" then take a sip of my martini and peace out.

You dont need to be drunk to think Annie needs nerfs tho
(How do you do that small text? I cant find out.)

Isn't this an indirect confirmation he DOES drink on the job?
They actually do drink on the job.
Let's just say that I'm not surprised.
Lots of people high up in big companies drink on the job.
Depends what company. You sure as hell won't be drinking on the job at Lockheed Martin.
Maybe not the regular workers. But the bosses, im sure they do.
I doubt the balance team is at that high a position relative to everyone else.
If they weren't, somebody would fire them right away.
You'd be surprised on both sides of that one.
Most executives spend their time in meetings\discussions where they discuss critical subjects. Those guys can't afford to be drinking as it is unprofessional.
Some companies, probably smaller ones where they are in their own offices all day long, might have a beer open.
Why is this in gameplay and not memes and games?
Because it is true.
It's not related to gameplay whatsoever, it doesn't matter if it's true or not.
Balance is related to gameplay, tho its a better fit for memes & games since its a joke thread. There isn't any specific commentary or suggestions for game changes.
You're right, it's technically related to gameplay transitively, just not enough to warrant the use of the gameplay section.

It's not allowed, it's just that no mod's seen it. When one does it'll get closed.
If they were closing threads like this, Gameplay and Balance would be a ghost town within a week.

What's your point exactly?
Don't forget the part where there's no accountability for the poor decisions you make. Oh, and you get to completely ignore the customers/playerbase if you want to.
reddit and gamplay boards =/= entire playerbase
and how do you know there's no accountability? Just because they don't fire the designer every time a rework goes south, as the boards wants them to?
For one, that's such a shit business strategy, you don't just fire people constantly when they (sometimes not even in an objective fashion) get something wrong- that ensures all the creative people don't want to work for you and even less risks are taken because it could compromise the worker.
Less risks and creativity do not produce better gameplay.
They have an INTERNATIONAL playerbase.
The west, boards especially, do not count as the entirety of the fanbase.
The boards is hardly the entire player base. Hell, I'd say Reddit more accurately represents the games player base.
(Not personally attacking anyone, just throwing that out there) The boards seem to be full of angry, biased lower tier players who use Riot as a Scapegoat for their poor decision making in game (x is Op, Y has no counterplay, and its Riots fault!) and for their issues with game balancing, skin designing, and literally anything else I can think of.
Bias aside, the Boards seem to be the lowest common denominator as far as Player Base goes, and it certainly is shown by Riot.
The majority of Red posts are usually tied with Memes and Games, and very rarely discuss in game matters here, I've seen a lot more game discussions on Reddit, which says something about their opinion on this place.
That isn't to say they never post outside of memes and games (the red tracker is proof of this), its just that its a rare occasion, and usually its either short and sweet, or cryptic and confusing in certain senses.
What's weird is that I don't believe I once mentioned the Boards or Reddit specifically and yet people seemed to think that I did. But, since we're on the subject...
This is the official website for League of Legends, so I find it beyond bizarre that the company that produces the game does not address their customer/playerbase with regularity on their own website. This would be akin to Microsoft talking about it's plans for windows on tumblr or the NFL releasing it's game schedules on the Home Depots website.
As for the quality of posts between here and there... they are practicually identical; if you somehow believe that the average Reddit thread is any more or less savvy or sophisticated than those posted here I would suggest to you that you're mistaken and/or biased.
The League subreddit is populated by a lot of e$ports crap which has it's own section here that i never read as I couldn't care less, as for the rest of the topics... let's see what we have...
"Unpopular Opinion: Tank meta, best meta" - how original "Does Your Heart Rate Go Up While Playing League" - i guess that's original, sounds like an obesity issue though, so not really relevant to me, but to some I'm sure. "Assassin" gets filtered out in your rune page name" - thanks Reddit, we already knew that rune page names had issues. "A Good support never leaves his adc behind" - support circlejerk threads, we have them here along with every other role. "URF with 10 bans" - original idea, totally unique to Reddit. "1750 Urgot rework 1 hit tank" - we obviously never see posts like that here.
Shall I continue? I think you get the point.
Riot posts over there but they seem to ignore the same issues as they do here; thus the comment about a lack of accountability.
What company actually replies to every complaining forum poster?
Legit question.
I don't think this post is very respectful because they work so hard just to keep the game running and all you people do is criticize them. How would one feel if they were constantly degraded by their own community? If all you do is criticize, what if the game just disappeared. Just a pinch of salt.
I mean it's fair to have some criticism towards Riot but these are just salt posts that add nothing to healthy discussions. Riot can't and probably doesn't care to reply to these because they are just resentful posts.
It adds to the census that people aren't happy with the state of the game. By every patch that goes live, the game becomes more imbalanced. There's so much stupid garbage in the game right now it blows my mind.
Do you have data proving your claim or are the usual upset people just more vocal about it?
They mustve tried some hard stuff when they were on the assassin rework imo hehe
That were mixing some shit along with taking the hard stuff
And you guys wonder why Riot pays no attention to the boards. Because clearly, ex-platinum player knows more about balance than the people who actually make the game.
Funny because a large majority of the people in charge of Riot are in silver. I know you're young, but let me explain it to you now, there are no qualifications needed to work on game design. It's not a profession, you don't need to go to a certain school to study a certain subject to take a certain test and get a certain license like with accounting or dentistry. Just because someone works at Riot doesn't mean they're qualified to do shit.
Serious question: is Riot actually a good place to work? Not a pragmatic question at all, I am in no way qualified to work at Riot, I'm just curious because I have heard WILDLY differing opinions on this.
Very team dependent.
I've heard a lot of good and a lot of bad but in general they pay well and you get a fair amount of autonomy. Although considering some people like jobs where you're given clear goals, Riot is sort of like Valve in the sense that they give you a job and expect you to do your thing without supervision.
https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Riot-Games-Reviews-E247538.htm
The consensus seems to be yes. However, like with every company, there's a lot of negative reviews, most of them saying there's pretty bad leadership and that teams can be very slow and inefficient.
Which makes sense. Riot Games with one single game had more revenue than Blizzard with all of its titles in 2016. Yet they pump out content on a pretty slow basis compared to them.
