Let's be honest, does anyone buy pink/control wards when their team is losing?

People say wards win wars, and yes I agree. But if your team is losing and your team isn't able to defend them, what's the point? People will just destroy them, and since you can't fight the enemy there's nothing you can do about it (actually you can try to defend them but probably die). I feel like pink (even though they don't exist anymore) and control wards (and wards in general) are just a luxury item you can afford to waste gold on when your team is snowballing. You're not on the snowballing team? Too bad so sad. No vision for you.

Control wards themselves aren't enough, but say if you see a Lee Sin clearing a control ward by himself, and you have vision of all his teammates, you can collapse on him and make a pick. That's also how you make a comeback,

This is a tricky situation. Wards allow people to make picks and change the game. I've previously won a LOT of games where I was so far behind and came back. We only won because I kept up my wards and allowed my team to spot enemies that are alone. One pick late game can win a game because a 5v5 turns into a 4v5.

Yes, you should always keep up on warding. There's never an excuse not to. It doesn't matter if the enemy team is snowballing like crazy if they can't see where you are / you know exactly where they are.
