It's about time we give garen what he ACTUALLY NEEDS

Yes the armor pen on his E was a nice addition considering garen's damage output was kind of shit for a juggernaut.

However, what actually needs to be addressed is his passive.

Garen is an immobile juggernaut whose kit empowers him to get in the thick of things and damage everything around him, hence his E. The one thing in his kit that makes ZERO sense is his out-of-combat passive.

Out of combat regeneration is something a skirmisher like riven (no, not that she in particular should have this, but just to highlight what kind of champs should) who likes to go in, trade, and GTFO, should have. Juggernauts should and for the most part do have in combat sustain.

All have in combat sustain, so should garen. Rework his passive plz.

The whole Juggernaut concept is vague enough. No mobility in his kit, but can get really tanky, and have fairly good damage. The key difference is, most of the Juggernauts that were updated were casters, and along side those casters, you could probably include mundo, and definitely Illaoi. Where Olaf falls into the same sphere as Udyr and Volibear, They still have the tankyness and the lack of dashes, it's just that their AA centric kits makes their damage more single target focused, giving them more dueling power.

Tank: gets in your face trough HP and CCs you. Juggernaut: gets in your face trough HP and DPS-es you. Bruiser: gets in your face trough a gap closer and deals sustained damage to you trough his HP. Assassin: gets in your face trough a gap closer and bursts you. Mage: deals AOE burst damage, long ranged. ADC: deals ranged DPS Support: gives utility to the team.

These, generally speaking, are the archetypes, or classes, of LoL. Every champion is a mix of those classes.

I think Olaf fits the description. He's not particularly mobile and will melt your face if you are in his range. But I agree with OP that Garen's passive just doesn't help Garen in the role he's suppose to play.

i agree, and i think he needed it more than the armor shred.

its like hes the only champion in the game whos expected to be able to dps without in combat sustain accessible to him. imo its one of his largest issues.

The armor shred was definitely needed IMO, it's probably almost as needed as a new passive. Garen's damage output has always been straight garbage. That's why, unlike darius, many people have long played garen with more of an assassin build as opposed to a traditional juggernaut build.
