Now, before we even think about reworking Malphite...
May I push your attention towards a character that is EXACTLY what Malphite's fantasy as a champion is supposed to be.
Pica from One Piece. Now now, hold yer horses and safe the "omg japanese weeaboo" flame for later and listen to what I have to say. Pica is a 2-3 meter tall buff dude (who has a voice as if his crotch had an accident with a sledgehammer once), but he might be one of the most brokenly overpowered characters the show has to offer: his power is stone assimilation. With that he can not only move through solid rock, but also form and control it while ALSO taking control of as much rock as he can handle.
Meaning that at some point he comes growing out of a mountain, several hundert meters tall and ready to crush the entire city with his fist. When there is an earthquake, it's not Pica causing it - he IS the earthquake. He shapes the landscape as he pleases, almost on the level of a god.
This is pretty much what Malphite is supposed to be. I mean, look into his splash, you can see him there being so tall that the helmet bros look like ants in comparison. Yet ingame? An absolute midget in comparison. Also his kit is not really that interesting. None of his basic abilities strike me as essential or interesting exept for his ult and yet there are champions that fulfil this fantasy of "crashing into somone" better (Sion comes to mind).
When you play Malphite you should be feeling like you are playing a otherworldy earth-elemental, not just some rock with a generic cc-tank-kit strapped on!
His kit should involve moving specifically through terrain or gathering "mass" before crashing into your enemy by turning into a literal landslide. Also terrain manipulation by raising walls from the ground could be a thing.
I mean, we all know there will be a Malphite Rework at some point (even tho he's not that bad in a balance state right now), so why not start debating about it? I think we all can agree on that he does not really life up to his potential he could have with his theme.
and you'll get your big elemental. Seriously, just think a good build and you can do anything you want with Malphite... and please don't suggest rework to my main while I'm having a great time with the current state,
+ W +
is so strong XD
