Is it viable to rush defense as adc?

Let's say they have a fed assassin, is it viable to rush a frozen mallet or some armor to survive the assassin burst? Or do you have to go full glass?

you don't have to go full glass cannon, but you're going to be pretty useless mid-late game if you're not doing any damage. That's what items like maw are for though.

but i have played since end of season 2 and i have over 3k wins , 3 accounts. i dont play rank cuz im not overly serious about it and i wanna let all the try hards have it so they dont lose their shit if i dont care if i lose. i play for the fun of the game and for enjoyment.

because apparently if you dont care if you win or lose means you dont try according to some

that's what positioning is for. better to not get hit than just face tank everything. you're not a juggernaut. you can build some defense, but rushing a frozen mallet 1st or 2nd item is going to make you pretty useless. item 3022 item 3156 item 3814 item 3026 item 3139 etc mid-late are fine.

While that's true, I think it's better to learn how to position properly as a means of preventing death rather than building tank items first. But if the enemy that keeps killing you is much better and you can't position well against them, then getting tankier is a solution

never said build tank items 1st... most adcs by mid game should have their two core items item 3031 item 3085 (most adcs for example) and are vs a fed ap burst mage or an assassin should maybe for their 3rd item get part of a def item to help them sustain through that phase like ok FIZZ is fed as fuk ... let me get item 3155 next and then ill finish my build so i can be safe enough to have some kind of impact..

im not saying start the game by rushing a item 3026 ... however i did to that a few times as GAREN and it was funny... pissed the enemy team off royally LMAO

only retards go full glass vs strong assasins/mages. a GOOD AND SMART adc player aka pretty much no adc player will go for a defencive item 3rd instead of crying how he gets oneshoted. let's say me enemy noc is 4-0 and instagibs me? kk imma grab a frozen mallet so he cant 100-0 me instantly so i can kite him and kill him. ggez noc cant do his job properly anymore so we win. also frozen is retarded on ranged champs. if the enemy is a mage go MAW you get ahefty shield and lifesteal.

I think it is viablento survive, however, you will do ZERO damage to the enemy hecarim because of courage and he has some armor.

i have at times in games where i was ahead at adc and know that i would be the focal point of the enemy got a GA 3rd item and it help me alot having that def stats and security and it kinda was a mind fuk to them knowning that i had the GA ( and side note... the sooner you get a GA the more efficient it is by having the passive up more often through the game)

You dont have to go glass cannon to do dmg as an adc. Its a great idea to get a defensive item, something like item 3143 / item 3102 / item 3026 . It depends on how you re doing...if you die too many times, then consider to get some defense. Also, taking items like item 3071 / item 3022 / item 3156 / item 3053 is actually very good.

You do not need to rush defensive items as you will become useless. A late game GA usually helps to survive assassin burst, but other than that play smart, watch your positioning and stay outside of an assassins abilities + flash range. Also staying near teammates with hard cc and avoid areas of the map where your team does not have vision and enemies on the map that can kill you are not visible.
