I lost interest in Season 6

iTaLenTZ··78 votes·2,718 views

We are 4 months into this season and the upcoming changes to towers feel like too little too late. They have been shit all season. Deathtimers adjustments same thing. Then we have dynamic que which made me lose interest in ranked. Also the balance of the game has never been so bad. Yes I am looking at Ekko, Kindred, Graves, Soraka etc. Problem just seems to be overtuned tank items who are being abused by every champ except the tanks themselves.

Some champs have been sitting at a 55%+ winrate in plat4 and above for far too long Janna, Kog Maw, Lulu, Nidalee are some of them. Generaly speaking the game has become boring and predictable. You know who is going to win in champ select more than ever before due to the high disparity between viability of champs due to availability of certain items in the game. Quinn is absolute cancer to play against in toplane. Protect the Kog compositions have never been easier to play since Sterak's Cage and Maw + Lulu/Soraka/Kindred/Rework Taric. AP champs have disappeared from the meta completely and most teams run 2-3 adc's. And looking at the overall nerfs to almost all APC's it looks like they will take the secondary support role from now on. We have more champs than ever but every game just seems to have the same bans and picks.

A lot of the preseason changes got reverted but too late. Sated Devourer has been a huge misstake. Rageblade has been a huge misstake. And looking at a new huge shake-up of the game in patch 6.9 is just too much in a short amount of time. I feel like we will be again in pre-season with again looking at 3-4 months of adjustments and tweaks and reverts to get things somewhat balanced while at the same time changing other aspects of the game and releasing new champs etc. Just complete chaos again.

TL:DR: I lost focus. Too many misstakes and changes in a short amount of time have made me tired. It doesn't feel rewarding to learn anything because a) the game is completely unbalanced and b) the game radically changes in very short time periods where the new broken FotM replaces the old one.

When I saw the new champ release teaser I was like ummmmm wtf! That is not what we need right now. We need some fucking soloq and some fucking balance.

So, Riot should literally stop doing anything that isn't related to game balance just because you don't feel like adjusting to anything but you rather want your safe environment be brought back? Sorry. If this isn't to your liking, i suggest sitting back, relaxing and letting Riot to their thing.

56552559_DEL6 votes

"Letting Riot to their thing" is what caused all of this crap to begin with.

Why else do you see people on this forum every day complaining about DQ? Why else do you see people constantly asking for more bans? (even though they should be asking for balance changes) Why else do you constantly see people complainin about death timers? I could go on but you should get my point.

Obviously letting Riot do their own thing is what is made this season unplayable for a lot of people, not because they are "bad" or anything like that, but because a lot of us are just done with the bullshit excuses.

Elikain2 votes

And if Riot never did any changes to their game since Season 1, i guess then you'd be saying how Riot never actually cared enough to update their game? Riot is making changes that affect gameplay because that's what making balance changes mean. Something gets nerfed and thanks to the abundance of content, something else that was shit tier replaces its place. We've already been in the Seasons where death timers didn't mean anything, where you could win the game all by yourself, where assassins were top tier, where certain champions were 100% bans, where towers were too strong, where the only thing that mattered was overall team gold... And every preseason turmoil ever.

I don't see a reason why Season 6 is special. I'm also taking a break from it but not for the same reasons you are. I'm taking a break because the Marksmen i play aren't in a good spot and the only thing i've left are mages. At which point i'm waiting for the Update and Items to hit live.

On everything else, refer to Surrender at 20 for the coverage of PBE changes that Riot is always testing.

We've let Riot do "their thing" and obviously they're not very good at it.

Elikain1 votes

No you did not. What you've done is complain about every change they make, claiming you know better. Frankly, i'm tired of hearing the constant nitpicking so how about i ask you to guess the next contested top pick? Tank Ekko is gone. My guess is Maokai. He was an undying dumbass to begin with but the meta didn't favor him so he took a break. Who's going to bet that if he sees major play and turns out to be a major pain in the ass, you'll be here with the same attitude but attached to a different champion?

As a perfectionist and player of League of Legends is it not my job to help Riot by giving them feedback? Of course nothing like League can so easily be perfect and it will take time, but there's a difference between evolving and devolving. Despite overwhelming feedback available constantly on Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, Boards, the PBE, etc, Riot continues to make unacceptably wrong choices. The worst part is that I feel like if the community could temporarily replace all of the balance teams for a week with nominated players the game would be the most balanced it's ever been.

So yes, the community is constantly complaining and we have a very good reason to do so. Riot's balance team is obviously incompetent and are the primary reason why the game will die if it does die. Though if it takes Riot 4 months to realize towers are irrelevant and 60 second death timers at 30 minutes into the game is unacceptable, then the game is already dying.

Elikain1 votes

I'm not against giving feedback because that's how you improve the game but this statement from a player is incredibly conceited and egotistical.

Riot continues to make unacceptably wrong choices. The worst part is that I feel like if the community could temporarily replace all of the balance teams for a week with nominated players the game would be the most balanced it's ever been.

They're making changes based on data they collect from games and champions, while all of you want to make changes based on your emotions and how you feel about a particular champion. If this was in your hands, Zed would be deleted or incredibly nerfed so that you could feel satisfied but for the people that play him - fuck them. They should learn to play something that takes skill to get on your level? This kind of bias is the exact reason why you believe you should be in charge? Because you'd make the game balanced and fair? Don't make me laugh. One patch in your hands and the entire game would implode in on itself.

the game is already dying.

You're quite the melodramatic bunch of people. Show me the evidence that the game is dying, don't think your opinion on the state of the season is a fact.

Same bunch of you complained how the mages were already in a bad state but with this Update, mages are even more underpowered because Riot replaced mp/5 with flat mana? One more case where your mouth runs before the brain thinks of what to say first. From my experience on PBE, i didn't see any of the problems you people outlined and mages were even stronger than before, even with the Zhonya cheapening to deal with the assassins sooner, for the sake of little bit of AP and a bit longer effect on the active. Flat mana is quite welcome to any mage, Athene's feels as a very good choice for shield spammers like Orianna, Karma, Janna...

##If the changes feel good on PBE, Riot is making changes in the right direction. Not until a patch hits live shall we actually know what the true state of the changes are.

Elemental dragons are an ever better addition than what we have here because every buff is a standalone edition that's worth picking up and it's not dependent entirely on stacking them. Elder Dragon feels like a second Baron on the map as the only way the current Dragon is worth trading for a Baron is to prevent the other team from acquiring both buffs at the same time or it's your team's 5th Dragon to take.

#If you want to help with feedback, get on the PBE and test things out and stop theorizing how you're supposedly better at balancing the game then they are.

Honestly even with motivation and reasoning like this I could imagine the game being in a significantly better state than Riot currently has it now. The reason I believe that the community could do better is simply based off of the fact that Riot's gameplay/balance teams have no synergy, prioritization, and have constantly displayed over the years that they aren't willing to say they've made a mistake.

That's one of the biggest reasons that I would gladly replace Riot's gameplay related teams. They are almost never willing to admit they made a mistake regardless of how colossal that mistake is, instead they try to fix the mistake and we get no where. It's like trying to fix a broken champion with number tweaks, It won't do anything. Examples are Sated Devourer, Dynamic Queue, entire champion's kits as a whole. Though to be fair ONLY after like a year of people constantly complaining since Day 1 are they FINALLY removing Sated Devourer, one of the most broken, toxic, unfair items in the game that's broken countless Junglers.

Just the fact that the gameplay teams will almost never admit that they were wrong alone convinces me that they are incapable of handling the game and should be immediately replaced. There's countless problems that have occurred and will occur simply because Riot refuses to admit they were wrong.

Elikain1 votes

There are a number of solutions to a certain problem, not just the ones you outline. Fixing things, replacing, removing... is all a part of balance and FYI, Sated is not getting deleted, Bloodrazor enchantment is replacing it and Sated effect is moving to Guinsoo's stacked effect. Just like Magus got replaced with Runeglaive and then Runic Echos.

From what i've gathered in your comments, you just want a public apology that they've fucked up and leave changes as they are? Because you've only talked about how they won't apologize and for what exactly? Things not working out as intended? Isn't that the point of them constantly balancing the game through 2 week patch cycles? No solution to a problem is perfect and it will never be perfect. Stop pretending like you're the ones who know how to fix all of League's problems in a single patch and get off your high horse for wanting apologies left and right. This isn't Tumblr. You want all your triggers addressed and everyone else in Riot walking on eggshells in hopes of not offending someone with a "wrong" buff or a nerf.

I've never seen the community apologize for anything to Riot and there has been numerous witch hunts for the dumbest of changes, for example:

  • Jungle timers
  • Updating Summoner's Rift

Everyone was fine when using jungle and summoner spell timers through a 3rd party software (Curse Voice) and that was considered cheating but when Riot leveled the playing field for everyone, then this was a problem?

Everyone was excited to see the SR Update but when they gotten to play on it, pro and some players alike were reporting cases of developing terminal illnesses just because the color palette reminded them of DotA?

#Fucking seriously...

The only thing i will agree on is that Riot sometimes takes their sweet time to address problems. However, for the direction of their changes, i am always happy with that, even if they need to revisit the issue later.

A Miss Fortune2 votes

I don't want a public apology, an apology is just words and words are not going to change League's state of balance. I want Riot to be able to accept their mistakes and learn from them, instead they repeat the same idiotic mistakes over and over again. There's people who have been on their balance team since the first day of League's existence and they still seemingly make rookie mistakes despite 7 years of experience. I just can't understand what entire teamS of people who work 4-5 days a week are doing. I'll be extremely generous and throw out that they may work 20 hours a week, entire teams of people, unable to do something as small as nerf a number on Zed.

Obviously mistakes are bound to happen and if Riot makes a lot of minor mistakes that's fine, but some things like deleting towers from the game are just unacceptable. Here are two really good, reoccurring examples of Riot's refusal to admit they messed up.

  • Dynamic Queue: Literally nothing good has come out of Dynamic Queue. Longer queue times, more toxicity, overwhelmingly negative feedback from the community, pro-players and content creators absolutely hate it. It ruined the ranked system. I can't think of a single reason to keep this aside from the new champion select (Which is NOT apart of Dynamic Queue) is cool.

  • CertainlyT: I don't want to point fingers at individual people of Riot's gameplay teams, but this guy really deserves it. He's known for making ridiculously overloaded, toxic kits that almost always end up with the champion being broken and overpowered. Whenever he's given feedback about his champion designs he doesn't even accept it, he straightup just gives you a reason why your idea is bad and his is better, despite literally every single champion he's worked on having massive balance issues since Day 1, and all of them still have issues. He refuses to learn his mistakes and that's why every time he releases a champion you see a ton of "How isn't CertainlyT fired yet?" threads on the Boards. Some of his champions were Kalista, Yasuo, Thresh, Graves, and Zed if you were wondering.

Elikain1 votes

unable to do something as small as nerf a number on Zed.

I guess you had to be there where Zed's shadow swaps were put on a 1 second CD, where Zed actually had to take the risk for a kill. And LeBlanc's Distortion speed halved. Suddenly, these small utility nerfs to champions (not even number adjustments) were too hard for them and there were complaints for reverts.

You don't know what you want. First it was Lyte that deserved to be fired and now CertainlyT. I'm sure that if i ask this question a year from now, you'd have quite the list of people from Riot that need to be replaced and this is exactly the reason why i take everything from boards not with a grain, but with a mountain of salt.

You keep failing to understand what is your position in this situation, as a player. Riot is a company and they do the balance to their game. It's completely up to them whether they take feedback from the community or not and they've decided to keep the channels open. Because of this, you're overstepping your boundaries and you think that every change you people suggest is definitive and sure way of dealing with an issue and you expect the exact change to be made. Instead of feedback, you're then discussing who deserves to get fired from their job (on their forums, publicly) and signing petitions because the person in question ruffled the feathers of some players with their changes?

How about Riot openly discussing here which one of you will get a permanently shafted and outright ban anyone who talks about them in this manner? If some of you have very big issues with the game and you still won't leave and are threatening with an uprising, how about they be the boot that's going to be in your ass once your accounts hit the front door? Since this is the treatment they get on a daily basis, wouldn't this be fair on their side? I think it would. Except this isn't the case and it will never be the case of Riot organizing a witch hunt - ever.

I'll repeat myself - If you want to be helpful, use the boards and PBE like it's meant to be used. Give honest feedback on the content there and present your case or concerns. One of the most horrible faucets of this community is that we've asked Riot to be more transparent (them talking about the ideas of changes even months before they hit PBE) and then we're using it as a basis to call the changes bad, long before there are any numbers to back up our claims.

What would have been fine with this attitude is to address pros and cons of the changes and put them on a list at which Riot can look at when they're preparing to put numbers in but no. We're too busy trying to remember the Rioters' names on this project so that we can pinpoint the person once shit hits the fan and put him on a list of people that need to be fired.

That's just pure garbage. And since these are also the types of threads that get upvoted for everyone to see, i think you understand why i get this impression.

#Be the change you want to see in the game, don't demand it.

This is such ridicilus statement

Champion power level in season 1 was like 30 000 today its 20 000

and new masteries are aproximetly as strong as old ones

League never had power creep

BluePolarizer4 votes

Fervor of battle adds 200-300 DPS to most autoattackers when stacked, with no requirements other than attack speed. You don't even need more than base AD.

There are no masteries in the old system that came even close. Even a 100% crit, 2.5 attack speed melee champ with 500 AD against a <50% HP target in the old masteries would only gain 160 DPS from masteries.

From what I experienced new masteries are just as strong but not stronger

For me there were many instances of poor management that I could see since I began playing in season two, but the game was genuinely fun, and despite a lot of promises being broken even back then (magma chamber, project shiny) it never really dulled my interest in the game. I think what made me the saltiest towards Riot games and League of Legends in general was mobility creep and their unwillingness to admit that it made many of the older champs hell to play as unless you had a coordinated team who knew how to play around the weakness of a low mobility champ. That and the SoloQ Lie and the deletion of an entire map. With the rate of new content coming vs. all these weird changes to the game (death timers, turrets, dragons, masteries etc.) at an all time disparity (think how long it has taken for the promised yoric remake) that I really think there must be some serious inefficiencies going on at the company. Too many things seem to be changing for the sake of change and keeping things fresh. But sometimes this has serious implications on competitive play, where certain players are known for being good as a particular style, or meta. Or making huge changes to the way the game is played right before the biggest tournament of the year. An example of this is I feel like Riot single highhandedly killed Voyboy's career by nerfing any champ he did well on. Ah, I'm ranting. I guess in the end the only thing that might possibly free me from the clutch of LoL is another game. I guess you could say Im following in Dunkey's footsteps and am going from one league to another. That's right. Rocket League. Damn if that game ain't a hoot! If you haven't tried it, you should. It's worth your money... and your time.

It does give me a headache when you list them all down, and I read through months of bad memories in just 1 minute. I wish Riot would listen to community input a little quicker.

All of this and Dynamic Q has made it hard for me to stay motivate to play ranked. I'm a support main so I can't complain about getting my role, but every time I see a pre-made on the other team (which is easier now that we can see club names) I just know the bot lane will get rolled on by the 8 minute mark. Every time. The nerf to yellow trinkets, and Sightstone has really hurt the support role as well. It feels like nowadays I have the least amount of impact on the game out of anyone. If I get my carries fed, I can't stop them from throwing or being stupid. If we're behind, I can't get them back into the game. What's worse is I'm in Silver and I can't even tell who should be in silver and who got boosted by Dynamic Q until it's too late. I was supporting a gold ADC and he was yelling at me for taking CS....as a item 3302 using support. When I explained I was procing my shield, he said 'doesn't matter, I need the CS'.

The worst part about all of this? I'm in Silver 3, the furthest I've ever gotten and I feel I can get farther, but I have no motivation due to how bad it is in the current meta. Sorry if your queue times get extended because another support it taking himself out of the pool, but I just can't do it anymore.

Well let's see how the mage update shakes things up... hopefully it won't be like the ADC update(ADCs everywhere, a certain select ADCs being broken) (We already have Malz abusing AD/Tank items..)

Dextix LT3 votes

Wait, this ISNT preseason?

EndlessSorcerer3 votes

Yeah, I have not really complained before, but I just find the current state of the game to be extremely unfun.

They really screwed the pooch with Devourer and Guinsoo's Rageblade. It has been a balance issue since preseason, but it has taken them about 4 months to do anything about it (aside from nerfing whichever champions use the combo).

Dynamic queue is really screwing with match-making too. Last season, almost everyone within a game was within about thee divisions of one another. This season, I keep seeing high Silver players in games composed of primarily high Gold and low Platinum. It tends to lead to stomps since they are so much worse than the average skill level of the game.

That's my last main issue. Since most games end up being a stomp for one side or another, the game tends to be disappointing whether you win or lose. I'm just having trouble bringing myself to care about this season.

I honestly find this worse that post-Juggernaut patch season 5, even if that one lead to about 6+ champions being perma-ban at all levels until pre-season began.

Admittedly, part of my issue is that I'm beginning this season with roughly Gold1/Platinum 5 MMR, so I'm in the most toxic MMR range I've ever had to deal with.

Roughly 25 ranked games this season and I don't think I've yet made it through a game without reporting at least one person for raging, verbal abuse, harassment, trolling, or ping spamming others constantly.

Only plus side is that I was dropped in Gold 2 after placements. Thankfully, I don't actually have to play ranked to get rewards this season.

Then take a break/quit until they change something you like, I've been at it for 6/7 years now and nothing changes in how you play league. Play while you like the patches, quit for a bit when you don't, come back when they fix what you didn't like,

iTaLenTZ1 votes

I already took 3 breaks from this game. The game started to go downhill during season 5 when Sated Devourer was introduced and later Runeglaive. After that my time spent on Lol has been declining a lot. I hardly played during preseason and league of criticals followed by thunderstorm. I just started playing again around 6.5 but now I might take a break for good. I hate the reworks to some of my mains in 6.9 and the general state of the game is just so bad each time i think "Lets play some Lol" all these negative thoughts come to mind. All good things end i guess.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Well then I guess you might have to find another game unless riot fixes something. I'm just personally waiting for 6.9 cause I like the changes coming aside from water dragon which still needs a nerf and viktor whcih idk how I feel about still. The main reason why I actually like the 6.9 changes are while it'll open another pandora box of balance issues they'll be fixing a large portion of balance fixes I wanted and with removing a few things/adding back a few things they're actually visit and nerf/buff some stuff accordingly.

Basically I only care about the 6.9 stuff because of the good effects that'll come later cause of it.

If that makes sense...wow I wrote all of that for some reason o_o well hopefully riot makes a change you like down the road but for now you might have to shelf your league for awhile sadly.

Well, your argument is that there's too much chaos already but Riot's response to deal with chaos is to balance on a larger scale is also going to be chaotic? And when they decide to do small scale adjustments (like slow Tank Ekko nerfs), then it's the same complaint - Riot isn't responding quickly...

This awfully looks like that no matter in which direction Riot goes, it's always going to fall under scrutiny by a specific part of the community.
