RoA + archangel on veigar?

so i'm reading this veigar guide and i'm not to sure about roa + archangel, i hear tear in general isn't worth it on veigar. also to make up for the lack of cdr i was suppose to bring scaling cdr glyphs which combined would give me 15% cdr at lv 18. so i just want some of your thoughts.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it, but it really depends on your playstyle

It's decent. I personally prefer Archangel + Athene's, but RoA is an insanely cost efficient item that Veigar can use all the stats on. 15% scaling cdr glyphs are also pretty great on most champions as they let you scrape by with only 1 20% cdr item and still have good cooldowns.

Is an extremely late-game build.

Main thing to consider with RoA+Archangel's is that you're average income in an average game is ~11,000 gold, which works out to roughly 3 major 3k items, 1k in boots, and 1k in the bank when someone's Nexus explodes.

Applying that to an average game: If you get RoA as your 1st major item, it won't be fully stacked until you complete your second major item and ~2/3rds of the game has already passed. With Tear: the struggle is fairly real to stack Tear in 10 minutes with Viegar. Even with sneaking Tear in before you finish RoA, you're looking at both maxing out closer to ~30 minutes. Average game only lasts ~33 minutes.

Granted: RoA and Seraph's Embrace are extremely cost-effective at max stacks, but either way you're sacrificing a considerable amount of early/mid-game presence with a late-game or bust strategy with RoA+Archangel's.

Considering Veigar's late-game is going to be strong pretty much no matter what, I'm inclined to belive focusing on an early/mid-game power-spike where you can really set the pace for your team from mid-game would have a much greater impact.

I personally like it as his natural ap gain from farming helps soften the blow of stacking not only a RoA, but building a Tear. The nice thing is that Archangel's now builds out of Needlessly Large Rod, meaning he gets a nice boost to his AP once you decide to work on it. It also makes him a lot less squishy, which helps against assassins / multiple people gap closing to jump all over you. That with the Seraph's shield can allow you to survive things you otherwise wouldn't have. Compound that with Zhonya's and you're pretty much untouchable unless your entire team gets womboed before you can get in.

item 3040 item 3027 item 3089 = 600 AP (or real close to it) on most mages, with Veigar its probably around 800 given his Stacks. So if you want an extremely strong late game build its good. But your def weaker early game.
