In Silver III, some people still don't get boot enchants.

EDIT: 21 people in my past 3 games without boot enchants.

Maybe I'm missing something and boot enchants are useless, but in almost every game I've played there is inevitably someone who doesn't get a boot enchant even at full build. Usually, it's closer to 1/3 of the players in my games. I usually get my boots+enchant second, because the enchant is so great early on that there's no way I can pass it up. An early Distortion on Singed is godly, Furor on champions like Yi is outrageous at level 8. Alacrity Swifties on almost anyone is just crazy. Am I delusional? Or do some people not realize boot enchants exist?

sometimes it's more important to hit item powerspikes than to get more mobility

distortion is 10/10 enchantment on engaging supports and tanks though, should get ASAP

The way I see it, no matter how much damage I have, I can't apply it if I can't keep up with the enemy.

you won't always be running at people. if you ARE always running at people, idk what kind of comps you're playing with and against. kiting exists, and relatively static teamfights exist. movement modifiers also exist, and positioning is also important.

i mean, by the logic of "no matter how much damage i have, i can't use it if i can't ____________", people would build a little bit of damage, and then itemise purely into mobility and defence.

But, you still need enough damage to kill them before they can get back to their tower. It's a balance, however even if you have 6 Infinity Edges on Tryndamere, if you have 350MS and you're laning against a Garen with 600 you're never gonna be able to touch him.

you're...not...always gonna be running at people...

Either running towards or away, the only time someone is going to stand there and let you attack them is if you both think you can win, in which case you probably have similar damage/MS items. An alacrity/swifties+IBG Nasus probably won't stay and try to fight a full damage Tryndamere before 20 minutes.

edge cases, and all unhealthy as fuck. there's a reason yi is receiving a ratio conversion from total AD to bonus AD. there's a reason you can't freely swap between titanic and ravenous hyrdra anymore.

tank akali unhealthy youmu's -> full tank garen is cancerous, esp. b/c true dmg ult on villain and the insane split push pressure he creates in low elo ww hasn't been good for years, but should he ever become good, he'd be unhealthy trundle hugely powerful and borderline broken right now idk about voli. i GUESS he's ok. seems so kiteable though

The only enchantment I ever got was Homeguard, now that it's automatic I finish my item builds first before I get an enchantment (if I remember to get one ;-;)

Sukishoo3 votes

I usually only get them when I'm either way ahead or have full build.

Searno2 votes

Usually I'll get boot enchants if I have some leftover gold that doesn't fill enough to complete a big item/I'm already 4 items into my build,

but otherwise I usually only get it like in the final item sections.

Wînter Fox2 votes

I'll get Alacrity a lot on immobile mages like Malzahar so I can at least run away

Fowus1 votes

25 people in my last 3 games without boot enchants

trash sion1 votes

The only reason my number was lower is because one of my past 3 games was like 40 minutes, quite a few of us hit full builds.

I think its better to complete an item first am I wrong?

MistroTTC1 votes

I blame the fact that riot doesn't put them on the recommended item tab, which causes people to not know they even exist or forget about them in game, at least that's what happened to me until I was about level 25.

trash sion1 votes

I knew what they were at about level 20, but I was too lazy to read all of that text and just kinda ignored it until I leveled a bit more.

Most of the time there's better places to spend your money. As a support player I'm likely to get Captain on Janna, due to the synergy with Tailwind, but otherwise I probably have more to do with this money.

The Queen Viper1 votes

Meh, personally don't buy them anymore since games end too fast... can barely get 3 items.

The Deckowner1 votes

games are way too fast, the only time where i rush boot enchantment is when i am playing annie.

Ruin Lance1 votes

i tend to get furor fairly early on ADCs and yasuo. it helps with kiting a TON.

Curling Veigar1 votes

friend whos high diamond insists on telling me that boot enhancements are useless and therefore never buys them lol

Tyaldan1 votes

They really are almost useless aside from niche cases where it greatly benefits that one particular champion. I usually get them as my absolute last item because when you are full build AND have an elixer, theres no reason not to have that miniscule edge. But before then, nah.

FebruAhri1 votes

i only get them last where its only that and potions to spend gold on

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

I only get it for Distortion, and only if im Top, Mid with TP, or Support and i need to flash-engage or need to splitpush. If the team is far enough ahead so we win fights without a flash-engage or dont need TP splitpush plays, I dont get it.

Unless you're running Boots of Swiftness or playing Vayne, boot enchants are useless until you've completed your build.

With few exceptions, I typically prioritize my build as follows:

First core item (or main component of said item) > tier 1 boots > (finish first core item if not) > main component of second core item > tier 2 boots & finish second core item > Finish full build > Elixir > Boot enchant.

In prior seasons, the ward upgrade happened at level 9 whenever I remembered.

I don't see much value coming from the boot enchant. As an ADC, getting an extra 20MS, or a slight CDR on flash with some MS for 1 second, or Furor, just doesn't seem very impactful to me. 20 MS isn't going to be enough to escape the people trying to dive me - I can only rely on my positioning and peel for that. CDR on Flash isn't huge because top laners get it on Flash and Teleport (i.e. the enchant is less efficient on me) so I don't see it being worthwhile. Furor may help kiting, but again the easy to kite guys are easy to kite, and the harder ones I can't kite even with furor.

I used to prioritize homeguard in the middle/late part of my build, but the only truly impactful enchant was made automatic.

So sure, some people don't appear to get boot enchants. It's not that we don't know they exist. It's that we value the other things more highly.

It's not at all as bad as when people didn't pay 250g to upgrade a trinket which was insanely improved over what you had.

Don't worry, most people on gold/plat don't get them either.

I get enchants on ad champs fairly early. furor boots are a must on auto attack based champions like to get them at 2-3 items. but for ap champs I ususally wait until my last item unless its a fairly immobile mage then i buy it asap. the alacrity

It's funny if someone gets Distortion at 45 minutes, it makes me want to kill myself.

trash sion1 votes

Exactly. Get that shit second item, if you're top running Ghost/Tele or Flash/Tele you're wasting so much potential by offputting it.
