I figured out how to beat auto-fill.

When auto-fill was first permanently turned on, I loved it. Queue times got incredible short and I'd only get support a very small fraction of the time. It was good. Until I guess everyone kinda realized that this was permanent and dodge rates went up dramatically. Auto-fill stopped being fun because every third game I always ended up playing support because auto-fill immunity only lasts for 2 games.

It took me a while to catch on but what seems to happen is that when I get my role and someone dodges, it would usually be someone who was auto-filled and didn't want to play what they were given and I'd be there replacement.

The way to get around this is to stop the queue when someone dodges. Give it a couple seconds so these players are matched up in a different lobby and queue up again so you get matched with a different group. Your chances of not auto-filling goes up dramatically.

Hope this helps. GL

It doesn't seem to me that the players support this band-aid fix to matchmaking waits. I would be glad to wait 5 mins if it guaranteed my position.

Band aid solutions are the only choice we have.

Essentially this is what you're doing. By dropping the queue you would essentially be starting the match making process from scratch which means a longer wait. When someone dodges, I suspect it still keeps you matched with the same people and it's just trying to fill that one space left by the dodger.

My theory is that being matched with the same people in multiple back-to-back lobbies is just a result of queue priority; it's already found that you are similar enough MMR, and now you all have exactly the same priority to get into a match so it's more likely to drop you together in a new lobby. It's not looking for one open spot, it's looking for every spot and naturally seeing the same people ready to fill it.

Yeah, this is what I'm saying but when someone from that lobby dodges, it will quickly match you up again and most times it seems to auto-fill you into the dodged slot(mostly support I suspect) and gives someone new your place, most likely someone who is auto-fill protected so they are given a higher priority for your role. When you drop the queue and wait, you give the other players in that lobby time to get filled into other lobbies and it has to look for 10 players all over again to match you with and most likely you won't be auto-filling this time around.

I have been doing this for a week now and I haven't auto-filled once. The only times I have been auto-filled is when someone dodges and I don't stop the queue.

I like playing support when I don't mind losing which is usually when I'm on a win streak but I'd never play the role if I intended to win. It's much easier to carry from Top or Mid than it is from support so the more I can avoid it when I want to get some wins or at least stand a chance of being able to do something, the better.

I know it's possible to carry from support but I can't do it. I don't really know how other than to be godlike on a champ like Thresh or Zyra. I've met people that talented but I'm not one of them.

Ap supp is your friend. Once you get to gold it doesn't work as well. But silver and below ap supp is the way to go. I've tried being a tank and the times I have the adc was beyond trash. Not csing chasing not following up when I pinged , engaging and or following up when I didn't ping,

Well yeah. The way to get out of bronze/silver is to put the team on your fuckin back

And you can't do that with a normal supp ie Janna raka or a tank supp. I guess blitz is the only one. A lot of low elo adcs are bad and will blame the supp for being bad or will say supp was to passive..... umm guy no one stopped you from making plays. But ap supp are the way to go and the only way a tank supp can carry is to roam mid and top and help them because the jungle is nonexistent or can't hank every lane. Or I told my jungle don't come bot don't come bot because the lane was frozen in the mid and they couldnot do anything , but we were under our tower he comes bot and dies and I'm like I told you not to come and I told you bush was warded........then he was like troll noob supp gg we lost....I like to play malz as a supp for the simple fact of a free banshee good harass off of e instant stun on ultimate and decent disengage off of w and q

People DID complain A LOT FOR YEARS!! I guess you forgot all those posts nagging about trolls and people that stole lanes etc etc. They also demanded something that combined Teambuilder and Normal Draft and Riot gave it to us, in the form of the new Champ select. That was a step forward.

Just because we used to have perma-autofill in the old champ select, doesn't mean that we should get it now. People used to ride horses to go from one place to the next. Tell me, just because they used horses, you should go to work with a horse too?
