Mid-Year Mage Update Analysis (Items)
Hello everyone! Rioter Xypherous recently released a board post on AP Itemization. I'm here to give my thoughts on some of these changes.
Catalyst of Aeons: Catalyst is being reworked into a weird heal passive thing. You use a spell, you get health. You take damage, you get mana. It's weird. Guess it's good against poke.
Tear: The new passive can definitely help mana-hungry (most) mages.
Hextech Rocket Belt: A dash. Because the best way to solve immobile mages is with mobility. While it sounds good, the fireball nova at the end is a lot. Imagine Annie
dashing in at Morg Q levels of speed (not the fastest), spewing fire everywhere, and Tibbers spewing fire everywhere. Not fun.
Spell Vamp Removal:
Believe it or not, I see this as a problem for most mages. Usually, immobile mages have strong burst to make up for their 340 movespeed, but I figured that the Mage update would give us stronger Spell Vamp itemization. With Spell Vamp, a lot of mages can have small-huge(if you're Vel-Koz
or someone bursty) survivability with just Spell Vamp. At least Vlad
is getting a rework to support this change. (Wait, doesn't Morgana
have spell vamp in her passive?)
Anyways, those were just some quick thoughts on the update. I would appreciate it if you guys left your opinions in the comments, I want to know what others think of these changes.
Take care!
