I still see Thunderlord's Decree on almost every champion
I hope that people understand now that other keystones are viable, not just this one.

Many people are really slow to adapt.
Give it a week so they can see the pro players using them and copy that.
Many people don't even read the patch notes. It is honestly quite rediculous the amount of people that re entirely ignorant and oblivious to huge changes that are completely and plainly spelled out in the patch notes, and yet, Riot actually had to make an ingame reminder that masteries were changed or they would have had no idea, and many of them STILL had no idea for WEEKS. Downright idiotic.
never forget the first week after skarner rework...
I still will use Thunderlords though. I like the lightning.
I still have people asking what his pillars are...
give it a few days. people are still figuring out the patch.
Yeah as soon as champion.gg updates things might change XD
regardless of the patch thunderlord is still the best keystone for some champs such as
.

Vel'Koz can also use Deathfire Touch to some extent.
To some extent won't give him 45% cdr and anywhere near as much damage as thunderlord for him.
DFT is still only good if 30% of your AD exceeds 180 (Jhin) or 90(if you can keep spells on an enemy team longer then 6-8 seconds) (So 600 AD or 300 AD if you have sustain spell damage like lucian/mf/corki which can keep you safe) or if 15% of your ap is 180 (Veigar/maybe cassi) or 90(So 1200 AP or 600 if you can keep spells ticking the the enemy team consistently/sustained damage for 6-8 seconds minimally so brand, swain, anivia, rumble, cassi, karthus, kat, malz, morg, AP nasus, and lastly teemo)
Stuff like xerath/vel/ziggs/lux are better off just going 5% bonus CDR, and Zyra could also get DFG if her pets can apply it
Everyone else who could use DFG can't do it in a safe manner compared to thunderlords or they just burst and don't need the sustain damage component to DFT
Additionally for mages the 7% magic penetration is diminished with purchase of void staff so the flat 8 penetration is better until 200 MR which their regular targets wouldn't have anywhere near and some really love the extra 5% CDR like zil/ryze and previous examples etc.
Sorry for the long post, I do love DFT myself but thunderlord on others except for the listed is just better in terms of safely proc'ing it and being useful even before late/end game
Sadly I hope they don't go through with the incoming change where thunderlord starts at a 25 second CD but lowers to a 15 second CD or thunderlord unlike how reasonable it is now will just outclass everything again.
TL;DR aside from Jhin, MF, Lucian, Corki, Veigar, brand, swain, anivia, rumble, cassi, karthus, kat, malz, morg, AP nasus, and lastly teemo (Maybe zyra if pets proc DFT) thunderlords is better for early-mid and safely proc'ing with better masteries beforehand.
Galio is the only champion who can't really synergize with any keystone, although the stormraider change might improve that.
Didn't realize you were the OP
Kayle's Righteous Fury procs DFT. ;)
Would never take DFT on kayle, thunderlord or stormraider for more stick always. Kayle loves hybrid penetration or take the lower CDR if you just want to keep your skills on constantly and kayle never builds enough AD/AP to come anywhere close to what's needed for DFT.
Yeah no one disagrees about that, but we're talking about the oddball nonsense like
with TLD.
Some just don't synergize well with any keystone such as Ashe, Cait and Galio. Although currently since fervor buff ashe should go fervor but Cait and Galio still have nothing (Although cait can take warlord for more healing)
Poke build jayce as well although DFT can somewhat fill since they usually have heavy enough AD to support it
And funny veigar is too overqualified for either DFT or Thunderlord that he doesn't want extra damage and takes CDR mastery+storm raiders now
Caitlyn Main reason I say cait (now that ashe has fervor) is Cait getting thunderlord is based on you must land E(net)->Q(Damaging skill) then AA for harass which eats through mana bar like crazy and waste your escape tool which is already unreliable to land, cait doesn't really have any power AS steroid to make use of fervor. And although warlord was rebuffed but anyone who takes that kinda feels "forced" but maybe I'll stop saying caitlyn doesn't synergize with any keystone after testing it.
**GALIO Keystones **Now for galio He is literally the only champion in league who just doesn't synergize with any mastery. He doesn't use warlord, he doesn't AA for fervor, He doesn't build enough AP or deal any amount of harass for DFT. He might be able to use stormraider now to get in range for his ulti. He never does 3 hits unless you're really forcing yourself to for thunderlord. windspeaker is well windspeaker maybe it'll be decent. he doesn't AA for grasp. str of the ages might be good again since you want to keep galio healthy for ultimate. and bond of stone for the same reason as str of ages.
Why he would/wouldnt use But galio wants damage neither DFT/thunderlord do anything and he doesn't want the windspeaker/bond/str of ages for staying healthy which galio does easily with just W. The only keystone that galio could use for real damage is stormraiders to reliably get ultimate off where you want
TL;DR By not synergize I mean don't have a way to reliably add onto the keystone's potential or reliably proc it in a way that adds onto the tools in their kit. Ashe can proc thunderlord easily but is better with fervor since fervor works with Q. Caitlyn doesn't have enough AA steroids to use any keystone, doesn't have a reliable way to proc thunderlord, no skill spam for DFT and forced into bloodlust (Wish cait got jhin's AoE+ stealthed, reload which increases her AD for crit and AS and ulti, it's what cait shoulda had and when I say AoE I don't mean the damage I just mean area players trigger it). Lastly galio just can't use anything well except maybe stormraider since the buff.
Side Note: I'm not really for those who have to AA to proc thunderlord and it would be reasonable if riot nerfed normal basic attacks(not on-hit effects like a TF E+ W) procing it
They're probably waiting for any LCS pro players to use other Keystones besides Thunderlords before they start copycatting them again.
I hope that people understand now that other keystones are viable, not just this one.
I have refused to use that OP garbage because I didn't want to feel attached to it when they "fix" it. Most games I'm the only person not using it.
in the patch notes they mentioned they arnt nerfing it and are bringing other masteries up to the same level soooo it will be op for awhile :D
Then you realize they might even buff it so it starts at a 25 second CD and lowers to a 15 second CD at lvl 18.......
That's not a buff. People take it for the early game dominance and in the early game it will have longer CD.
It is a buff, early game only thunderlord/undying/stormraider and fervor(support keystones too) matter
If they nerf it's early game no one really cares since they can just hold off on their burst combo or moves that proc it in 1 press
but the fact that they're buffing it's late game will make other keystones irrelevant again, I'll copy paste the comparison i left on another post
Before you read what I posted in another forum I do love thunderlord and DFT and atm DFT is worth picking up again on more then just brand/swain/cassi but if the thunderlord buff goes through it'll be useless except on those 3 again because you'll have to keep your skills casting on an enemy in a shorter window to make DFT comparable while currently you have a large wiggle room since several of the champs listed and a few who aren't can find time to do so
Now for the comparison.
"DFT is only good if 30% of your AD exceeds 180 (Jhin) or 90(if you can keep spells on an enemy team longer then 6-8 seconds) (So 600 AD or 300 AD if you have sustain spell damage like lucian/mf/corki which can keep you safe) or if 15% of your ap is 180 (Veigar/maybe cassi) or 90(So 1200 AP or 600 if you can keep spells ticking the the enemy team consistently/sustained damage for 6-8 seconds minimally so brand, swain, anivia, rumble, cassi, karthus, kat, malz, morg, AP nasus, fiddle and lastly teemo) (Zyra as well if pets proc DFT)
Additionally for mages the 7% magic penetration is diminished with purchase of void staff so the flat 8 penetration is better until 200 MR which their regular targets wouldn't have anywhere near and some really love the extra 5% CDR like zil/ryze etc.
TL;DR aside from Jhin, MF, Lucian, Corki, Veigar, brand, swain, anivia, rumble, cassi, karthus, kat, malz, morg, AP nasus, fiddle and lastly teemo (Maybe zyra if pets proc DFT) thunderlords is better for early-mid and safely proc'ing along with better masteries beforehand."
2ND TL;DR I would be fine if thunderlord started at 30 and lowered to 20 seconds but I by no mean want it to lower than 20 seconds or DFT and other masteries (Except undying and fervor) can and will get outclassed again
I use dft on fiddle for the aoe with my ult. The reason I use thunderlords on almost every champion I play is because I want the cdr and/or dft flat out doesn't work. Like on fiora.
Oh yea I forgot fid cause jungle items made him feel like he's in the corner of rito's mind. Although with the change to give him echo instead of lichbane we might see more fiddles and i'm adding fid to the DFT list cause I honestly can't believe i forgot the spammable AoE guy :/
It isn't that bad, as (if I remember correctly) it was origionally a 30 second cooldown and it was still quite potent in that state.
It will take a little bit for the adjustment. Remember when Darius was banned 95% of the time for 3 patches after his nerf?

At least on my server, Darius is still banned more than 60% of time.
Darius is still quite scary, that heal can be quite ridiculous in teamfights and his laning phase is a nightmare to deal with for most champions.

I ban Darius just cause no matter how up/op he is I still get brain cancer from going against him.
The big issue with thunderlords is that its both the best lanefight and teamfight mastery for alot of people.
the fact that it is AOE means it also scales strongly with how many people are running it. Suddenly you're forced to try and win a teamfight with 3-400 additional AOE damage in a lot of cases, this isn't insignificant. [slayer-pantheon-rainbows]
Too be fair, the AoE on that thing is absolutely terrible from what I have seen when using the thing, so in order to get any use out of the AoE your opponents would have to be practically on top of each other.

it has 20 sec cooldown, it's shit in teamfight unless you want to burst a target, don't hope to do a lot of dps with thunderlord
i've seen a lot of jax still not taking fervor of battle, please wake up
I STILL see people taking Warlords on champions with 0 crit chance and who do not build crit at all.
Your point? People are slow to adapt. And Thunderlords has actual significant feedback the player can feel, in that "boom" from the third hit. Frevor's damage on hit isn't really felt, DFT's dot ticks such low numbers per tick as to feel like it isn't there, and warlords still doesn't even have an effect till mid game.

Sorry, had to fix that.
+1
People don't read the notes. Pick shen when he's reworked and I bet you ten bucks someone on your team or theirs asks what's up with the sword ghost thing
People will adjust but its still a very strong keystone.

thunderlord should be used by anyone that isn't planning to be a tank or isn't a DoT mage or an auto attacker.

since dots only proc DFT for 1 sec, i see dot mages using thunderlords instead.

yes but usually dot mages have concurent spells. for example teemo shrooms. i expect them to land on them often. the cooldown on thunderlords doesn't help the cause. and not to mention its not just the shrooms its all of your kit. but if your a burst champion you want that one moment to go all in so thunderlord is the way to go.
There's still not much of a reason to pick other Keystones in most cases, or at least I feel like that coming from an ADC main. Most other damage related keystones I feel like are still underperforming largely due to their early game weaknesses. All other three damage related keystones are extremely weak to being almost completely unusable early game unlike Thunderlord's which is immediately effective.
I feel like it's mainly because Thunderlord's is much more reliable/easy to use and it also doesn't take time to scale into the game. It has decent base damage and decent ratios so that you can immediately use it effectively at level 1. Unlike Warlord's Bloodlust which is literally unusable early game or Fervor of Battle that requires you to maintain the stacks and level a bit for the damage to be noticeable. Finally, I feel like Stormraider's Surge is a stupid idea with it being in the same tree as Thunderlord's, when I play a burst champion I have the choice between having an extra amount of burst to kill my target faster or have a burst of movement speed if I chunk their health.
Stormraiders is fine.. It's good on champs that need an escape after bursting. (Diana, Talon, Rengar, and even some immobile mages make good use of it that need to stick to a target.
Most of the time if you have the burst to kill someone you can ignore the extra damage and give yourself some utility, it isn't always about damage to which is better lol. Considering this is a mini yi ult on a 15 second cd it's really strong.
Fervor is good now. But for most champs thunderlords is better.
Funny... My last ranked game had only ONE. That's right, one. I was shocked. I wanted to cherish that moment forever.
I would love to see your experience and data that proves that the other stuff is viable in comparison. Considering that Riot gutted the other masteries under the premise that it was going to balance them out to start with, it is hard to know what is and is not effective first day.
Some people do not want to try figure everything out and will wait for others to do so. They will use what they know will work since thunderlords was not hit.
Try not posting on a smurf and give people time to switch it up.

I post on a smurf because I am forced. My main account is on the BR server.
then post in BR? Bitching about your experience on the NA boards does not even make sense. Its not even like the 2 communities are even close to similar.
Smurf posting accounts should be deleted.

I have my own reasons not to post on BR.
Besides, the communities are obviously different, but we are playing the same game, with the same characters. We are affected by every balance change that affect you.
Yet you have no clue if people are adapting to anything on NA. You are talking about experiences that may or may not even be a thing. Each region has it own meta, coming here and bitching about your meta is not going to get anything changed or even start a conversation that can effect you.
This is literally a pointless and uninformed thread since you are talking to players that will never play with you.
Honestly, the biggest problems are some champions not really having a suitable keystone, as well as the 5%cdr just being that strong. On fiora DFT could be strong if it procced off q for laning, but cdr is strong and thunderlords does something for every champion. Jayce is another one of those champions that doesnt want to miss out on cdr, can't use windspeaker and doesn't need stormraider.
Thunderbirds is still good on quite a few champions due to some dumb interactions and the like.
