Sterak is useless on champions with Bonus AD scaling

I just don't get why they keep slapping so many champions with Bonus AD scaling instead of Total AD scaling, especially on bruisers and tanks. Not only does it allow for a smoother progression from early to lategame, but it makes item 3053 a good item for those champions.

Poppy you just can't build a item 3053 effectively on her

and i've seen that they're changing RekSai's scaling to be Bonus AD instead of total AD, sending item 3053 from core to trash on her.

Pantheon is the best exemple of why bonus AD on bruisers is bad, if you don't build damage on him, he doesn't scale, at all. He reaches his maximum damage potential at lvl 13, when his Q and E are maxed, after which he doesn't gain any damage unless he builds more AD, and if he gets any defensive items, he just falls off so hard against scaling health pool and armor.

Why are bonus AD scaling so popular compared to total AD?

Why can't they at least make item 3053 count as both base AD and bonus AD for the purpose of spells?

Because the item is just meant to be built on champions with more total AD scalings. Allowing it to be equally effective as total and bonus AD makes it open to abuse on people like ADCs.

Probably because Sterak's is not meant to scale with ad? if you ask me, i think of it as a bruiser item for the base stats and the shield proc. I don't Build steraks on any ad champion other than kalista for survavibility purposes, if i Build it it is one of the last items on Bruisers or juggernauts like renekton and garen because the ad it gives it not that bad late into the game and ey, can we appreciate a 30% max hp shield?

1.) it is meant to be a damage + defensive item.

2.) i think op is asking why bruisers and tanks have so many bonus ad scalings in their kits, and not total ad scalings, as it would make them synergize better with items like steraks.

i dont think he wants steraks to grant bonus ad.

3.) @op: pantheon isnt a bruiser. hes more close to an assassin.

in case of tanks, steraks isnt useful most of the time anyways, as it is an anti burst item for juggernauts and possibly for divers. but tanks usually shouldnt take enough damage in a short amount of time to trigger the passive.

but i understand what youre getting at.

Eh, the only tanks that can really use it well are Sion and Poppy, and Poppy is stretching it.

So dont get it on champs who rely on scaling. Theyre meant for champs who aren't heavily building damage items and/or those who use sheen items since those proc off base and dont heavily build for damage. AKA just fine (even better than bonus AD) on poppy if you have iceborn or triforce and the rest tank items because of the sheen proc multiplier
