Pantheon might get a mini-rework at some point...

It's no doubt that he needs a visual update. After all his pizza feet are too disgraceful to be brought in connection with the total badass he is.

But we all have also to admit that his gameplay is rather dated, not really engaging and not interesting to watch either.

So let's think about it. What is it Pantheon does in lore and in game? He stabs people with his pointy stick. And if they fight back he uses his shield so he can stab them more with his pointy stick. And finally, he has the perfect backup-plan in case simple stabbing does not work: stab them until they die. That always works, because people die when they are killed after all (in case they don't due to black magics, go back to step one and start stabbing again).

We conclude: We need a spammable skill that makes you actively stab people with a thrusting motion. Maybe something like Yasuo's Q, but not for a sword, but for a spear. (Longer reach, short windup.) That skill could replace his current E that seems to be an attempt to get something like that across. We could even keep the same. Heartseeker Strike sounds kind of nice after all ^^

Something that also works nice: making his shield-blocking an active component. A small shield that blocks damage from a certain direction. It can work like Braum's shield, but more as a protection for Pantheon alone and not his team. That would be the new ability for his W that was supposed to have the shield function with the passive refresh.

On top of that we also need a spear-throw move, because that's a signature move of his current kit. Due to balance and counterplay reasons I propose making it a skillshot, or else too much of his power budget would be eaten up by super-reliable harass, especially vs melee.

And finally we got to fix the one thing that has always bothered me about Panth: his seemingly infinite spears. He throws a spear, but it magically re-appears in his hand. That is lame. I think we should make that an active component: after throwing his spear it gets stuck either in terrain or an enemy champion. Now you can either walk up to the spear and pick it up (or basic attack an enemy champ that has hit it for ripping it out of their bodies for extra damage), or reactivate Q to make it vanish in a burst of celestial fire and re-appear in his hands - however, that costs extra mana (in compensation for that, lower the costs for the initial throw).

While you have no spear, basics attack have less range and deal less damage (he slaps you with the shield then I guess) and spear related skills cannot be used. So you gotta be careful when you throw your only weapon away.

The ult... well, I'm sure something can be done here to make it more badass, but I can't think of anything right now. And we'd also need a new passive, because the blocking aspect would be covered by an active ability. You guys have any ideas for that?

I think his E needs an overhaul. It's a channel with poor range that requires you to keep still.

His Q needs to be changed because it's very overbearing in lane (I've played as him, as much as I enjoy not missing, it doesn't allow much power anywhere else).

His ult needs to be the man drop.

His W would be awesome if he could use it as an escape or wall jump.

Removing his W leap would completely destroy his identity as a "diver." They should keep his W as a leaping stun but it should be a skill shot, not point and click, so that it offers counter play and also provides an escape mechanic for Pantheon.

I love the idea of his new E though.

Hmmm the question is: does Pantheon need a stun in the first place? Thematically he seems to fall more into the same category as Fiora. No cc, but lots of damage.

However, I can see a leap working with his kit. How about a jump that makes him rise his shield towards the direction he jumped, blocking the first thing coming from there? That would work good together with the E I proposed. Jump -> Stab as a fancy combo ^^

Well to be fair, Nidalee throws javelins as her AA so the spear thing I think is ok...

Not really, in her case you just notice it less because mostly her pattern is Spear -> Transformation -> Cat form attack that needs no spear.

But at her core the problem is there and it makes me cringe whenever I see it ingame.

I think his passive doesn't match him. It'd be better suited on an auto-attack based champion.
