Potential For New Lanes? ADC and Support in Middle Lane?

With both sides of the map having about equal objective priority this patch, would it be smart to position majority of the team towards the center of the map than have it be Bottom heavy? Not to mention roaming Middle champions in general aren't as super favored from my experience since it's usually better to just secure as much a win as possible in your own lane.

For me, I'm actually entirely surprised that the support role isn't tethered to the jungle right now due to how OP it could be. Instead of the typical 1-1-2+jg, it'd be 1-1-1+2jg meaning that ganks would be literally twice as powerful and full on 5v5 teamfights in each lane would be easier to accomplish. It also wouldn't change anything in the meta either as ivern has shown how useful support-junglers can be.

Who will babysit the ADC?

The idea of the adc's needing a support kinda baffling me. Let's assume your top laner is the best player on your team. Wouldn't it make more sense to give that player an "extra body" with which to secure more kills/snowball harder with?

That's assuming he gets those kills; otherwise, having two people in a lane would leech experience off of both of them.

The reasoning behind putting ADC and support together is simple. ADC scales much harder off of items than levels; therefore, they can afford to have a little less exp than the rest of the team. Even though there is a support, the ADC still gets the gold from a solo lane; and the potential for double kills, meaning that their ability to scale with items isn't mitigated.

Again, your idea is the one thing that looks to be keeping the "role designation" in check (which isn't exactly bad, but doesn't look at grander ideas). Let's say supports were free to move to the likes of top/mid/jg. Not only would it open up the possibility for more diverse team comps (slow-scaling AP mage like a karthus combined with a support toplane could be a fun idea), but it'd also allow for multiple different unique champion ideas. Rather than having adc's be focused entirely on lategame, we could have the likes of early-game adc's to counter-balance the late-game toplaner. We could also have comps with no direct "ranged adc's" at all, which although it would suffer from a few flaws (inability to chip towers quickly) would also enable "exodia comps" thought impossible prior. While I'm not saying the idea of botlane/support being forced is bad, for this game to truly evolve it has to reach a point in which the 1-1-2+jg option isn't an instantaneous "go to" for teams.

If an issue is the need for the X lane to get more experience by the possibility for the Support to roam, we already have champions that can do this.

Bard Blitzcrank Fiddlesticks Leona Morgana Nautilus Rakan Sion TahmKench Thresh

These Supports all stand out as champions that can roam around the map quickly and/or gank very effectively. Not only this, but if we need an ADC that can solo lane, we already have tons of safe and/or long range champions to choose from, being:

Caitlyn Ezreal Lucian Quinn Tristana Varus Xayah

With the champion pool getting more and more diverse every day, there becomes more and more realistic solutions that present themselves when trying to break the meta. Take Bottom Lane Ziggs for example. It solved the issue of a lack of tower pressure without an ADC.

The only downside is that the jungle would scale more slowly in levels meaning that you could run into a top lane that was easily 2 or 3 levels ahead, which could be a problem.

Assuming things weren't compensated for that, like making it so that all monsters (jg and lane) would give a flat xp rate to the person who killed them and a side-xp rate (let's say 50%) which would increase back up to 100% should that person have a support starting item on them.

Plus for at least thinking of trying to change things up.

i mean over the past few months every adc main that didn't already know how got to learn the hard way how to deal with 2v5 in lane

see theres the part about roams.

I've thought about this same problem. Especially with the new Xayah/Rakan duo, which is a very mobile duo, it seems like it be more feasible to run a duo in the mid-lane. The only hurdle, in terms of picking for your team, is that you would have to have bot lane pick a mobile or high cc control mage that could wave clear safely.

I would also point out that the vulnerability of the mid-lane, the low mobility of most adc/supports, and the high damage output of most mid-lanes would pose a problem. It's the perfect storm for efficient ganks for the jungler. Especially with the return of Mao'kai, Zac, Sejuani as legitimate strong junglers, and Mummy's rework giving him a big buff, all of these AOE, strong CC, junglers would mean that the duo would have to be highly effective at warding and strong disengage.

So like: Ahri Anivia Azir Fiddlesticks Karthus Leblanc Lissandra Lux Malzahar Orianna Ryze Syndra Veigar Velkoz Viktor Vladimir Ziggs Zilean Zyra for Bottom Lane Control Mages that could work (or at least someone that could safely farm). Arguably Brand too.

No thanks. No one pays attention to the lane I'm in. If that happens in MID lane, it'd be catastrophic.
