I feel sorry for Poppy players

RedCyclone··91 votes·6,416 views

She is next up for a big rework and as we look at the recent history of reworks, you guys must be very scared Riot will change her for the worst further pushing her back as a non meta pick, they will call for feedback and ignore everything you say, they will push it through how they see fit and call it a success no matter how little the champion gets played after 2 weeks of it's re-release

God I hope they actually listen to you guys

after seeing Sion, Viktor, Tristana, Heimerdinger I'm confident they will make poppy amazing.

after seeing Cassiopeia Nidalee Olaf Sona i'd say it's a 50/50 of any rework having any amount of success

ignoring Mordekaiser Veigar Sona Cassiopeia Azir reworks?

Skarner Soraka ;A;

Azir didnt get a rework.

Fizz is not Fish8 votes

Mordekaiser has not been reworked. do not play Sona can not tell Veigar better or worse. 2nd Cassiopeia rework is good. Azir is not reworked, just nerfed.

and good rework Sivir,Zilean,Xerath

Xerath

Good rework?

hahahahaha

All they did was take a champion that was fun to play and turn him into a glorified Ziggs, but with less damage on autos.

Only Play Nid8 votes

Wait what? Have you SEEN Bjergson obliterate kids with Xerath?

The Soulforged12 votes

Your judging success on power level. Live Cass is really strong, yet the rework is considered by many to be a fail.

Thefriendlyorc21 votes

As a long time poppy player, she was my first champion, I am terrified of the poppy rework. I know she will go from under played and strong to shit tier due to 'counter play'

JevelFaithful1 votes

Or they'll actually manage to leave her decent. Not the exact same kit, hopefully the same champion judging by all the feedback they took and the lessons from the failed ones.
Or are you saying that Trist is now trash tier? Or lucian? Yeah, those are definately useless. Nothing to do with those, trash tier,

Thefriendlyorc2 votes

Skarner, Gragas and now Veigar. It really depends on who reworks her. I'm sorta along the lines of EvilBrickface below me, I fear she's going to be made into a Lesser Jax or something even more generic.

Please no... Not Poppy. Someone needs to 1v1 Tryndamere other than Nasus. Pleeeease, let her remain the late game powerhouse she is!

Or... "Rework" Tryndamere, by creating "interaction" and "counterplay" in his kit. (Which translates to turning him into a TF-oriented bruiser that does more rather than just auto-attacking)

The only rework I have liked recently was Viktor's, and Soraka's to some extent (although I miss that unique mana-giving ability), and, as a player who has tried blue Poppy (pretty funny), I must say I hope Riot at least saves this late-game Yordle (Veigar)

Thefriendlyorc28 votes

Viktor rework was really well done. It made rushing his upgrade item a priority and granted him a lot of power that is not only effective but flexible. Can use q to win trades against poke oriented types, or defensively wave clear with e against all in assassins

LoL Ergo Urgot3 votes

Viktor turned out great. Agreed.

Tryndamere's only abilities that lack interaction are his passive and W. The former because of RNG and the latter because of invisible power. Everything else about him is fair and balanced counterplay wise.

You can't CC him to stop him from ulting, and it is counter-intuitive not to finish off someone in low health, and split-pushing all day isn't interactive neither for your team, or your enemy.

It also has a very short duration, you can easily ignite him and it has a cast delay

Centuros2 votes

He still has 5 seconds (or is it still 6?) to blow up anything within sword range.

StealWolverine3 votes

thats his exact problem though. has to be in sword range. and it only takes a tiny slow for him to not be able to hit anything at all.

Sions as well

VardenSalad8 votes

I won't hesitate to call Sion a full-on re-launch of a champ. Sion was changed in almost every faucet (visually, gameplay, abilities, and lore), while Victor really just had his abilities altered a bit from their original form. Viktor's item changes were a bolt from the blue, and done extremely well in the rework, but Sion sits at another level in terms of changes.

Spacesuit Spiff12 votes

I mained her last season and tbh, she needs a rework. Single most toxic kit in the game. Super fun playing as her, not so much for my team while I ignored them and farmed my Feral (while throwing a dragon to them from time to time to keep them happy), and not fun for the enemy team when I pressed R and murdered the carries with zero counterplay.

Was in a game with a Poppy on both teams a while back. Past 45 minutes the other 8 players, for all intents and purposes, didn't even exist.

xSay6 votes

This is one of the most idiotic statements I have ever read. Poppy is worse off in a team fight than anybody with mobility, and one does not even need mobility to ignore her.

Did Poppy ult? Yes: If you are a carry type champion, simply run in the other direction and make sure you don't position yourself so she can linebacker you into a wall.
No: Poke. Her initiate almost requires her to ultimate because she has no escape.

I played Poppy for about 100-150 games two seasons ago to get a feel for her because I thought she might make an interesting main. While her ult is strong if the enemy team chooses to hard engage, she gets absolutely WRECKED by any sort of poke AND/OR kite mechanisms.

At the time I remember a Red saying that if the Pro's ever started playing Poppy a lot and she became viable then they would have to nerf her, but even years later she still isn't. There are a few high level players playing here--but then again, there are a few high level players for every champion, even Diamond level Urgots.

I've followed this rework like a band groupie, I don't like its premise honestly. BUT i believe change is her destiny and I will try my hardest to adapt to that change.

If there is anything I want anyone to get out of my wall of text is I'm hesitant on playing league lately because I don't want to get too attached playing the current Poppy knowing that she is going to be vastly reworked. its the anxiety of " Is it going to be good or suck " thats eating me alive right now. every time it feels like it should be Poppy time riot grabs a champion that is perfectly fine and screws with them.

  • The rework is suspiciously brought on by Morello's upset feelings that UOL used her in LCS to pwn a mundo
  • Morello stated if she ever saw pro play she would have to be reworked or nerfed into oblivion

The other idea I don't like is she currently is a niche pick, and there are few that are really good with poppy.

  • I'm afraid her rework is going to make her into a generic top lane fighter that everyone knows how to play and deal with.

I'm also torn about how I feel about recent news of her becoming a tank

  • I play poppy glass cannon ad assassin, some ppl play her ap, what I'm talking is Poppy has an identity crisis currently but by general questioning on forums anyone who plays poppy is a diver assassin anti-carry....

Furthermore what bothers me the most is they announced the rework sometime November, with no hints as to what they're doing other than heroic charge * Poppy's most buggy skill staying, and her ult disappearing. I mean I would kill for some sketches, It kills me thinking how they're going to tristana her with her current look.

JevelFaithful1 votes

You don't like tristana's new look?

I want to see how it applies to Poppy actually, because i don't exactly expect Poppy to joyfully trot to lane bobbing her head lol.

Tristana's look is good but i don't exactly think her splash art matches her 100% but thats another matter that I won't complain about. lol

Raid Boss Morde7 votes

Actually, look at Sion. He's great now, so this thread is pretty pointless.

Mr Wright II2 votes

Sion was 10xS better before, he could quite literally 1v5 their team if he got ahead, which was easy cause point click stun

Raid Boss Morde25 votes

Um... that's not better, that's just Sion lacking counterplay. They made him a healthier champion who does his job much better.

Sukishoo6 votes

She's gonna be a Sion level rework and seeing how they made him much better, I'm confident she'll be just as great.

JevelFaithful2 votes

Woo! We're probably the first ones who aren't afraid of every patch that riot ship!

Nagirah6 votes

I remember seeing them talk about turning her into a full tank... not looking forward to it, if it happens.

Celeste Benal3 votes

Full tank in the current jungle meta? RIP Poppy.

SEKAI5 votes

Get the guy who worked on Sion rework on Poppy.

Sion's theme was changed drastically, but people still fear him for exactly the same reasons, and Sion is now more satisfying to play.

Zazusha2 votes

indeed.

like Sion, Poppy is destined for a Full rework, with potential Highlights being retained (her tackle)

RavenMagus5 votes

Hey, maybe they'll turn her "champion identity" into something other than "struggles through 20 minutes and then kills anyone she wants to".

But that's a great champ identity! It's the opposite of Lee Sin!

Kingsgrave4 votes

They are making her a tank which I can't imagine the majority of Poppy players will be happy about

Bodkins Odds4 votes

I've never, ever, seen anyone play her tank. Bruiser & Assasin, AD & AP, but never tank.

I experiment with cockroach tank poppy sometimes when I play support. its funny to watch them try to kill me without ignite and i just poppy passive

I'm sorry buddy, but the evidence contradicts your post

Sion - Successful

Soraka - Successful

Cassiopeia - Successful

Viktor - Successful

Sona - Successful

Zilean - Successful

Tristana - Successful

While they missed the mark with veigar, mordekaiser and kassadin, this was all only the recent patch, and full reworks tend to be much better than minor kit fixes anyways

Doctor Dyment2 votes

Uh. Huh. Now, Riot has done poor reworks in the past... how? Like name one please.

Bodkins Odds6 votes

Casseopia. The Casseopia rework still isn't good, they just kept making the numbers bigger until it was OP.

Other than that, they've all been fine. Except maybe Skarner.

Auz the Ripper2 votes

Even then, Skarner's second rework was OK until they knee-jerk nerfed it the next patch

junglerboy162 votes

Skarner's rework turned out nicely in the end, he is just overnerfed right now. if they finally made his E actually travel at a normal speed and gave him back a little damage on his Q, then he would be golden.

Uh. Huh. Now, Riot has done poor reworks in the past... how? Like name one please.

Olaf. He is still in the same crappy spot he was before. He still has the issues that he had before. Nothing was actually fixed. They just changed some stuff yet kept all of the issues still alive and well. That, to me, is a failed rework.

A rework is not supposed to make a champion strong. It is to help fix it in the regards of their gameplay. He still has the same gameplay. He still can get kited to shit. Still has a rough time laning. His ult is worse IMO than before (loosing the passive stats that allow him to live). I love Olaf and he is my go to top or jungle. But he has been outclassed for a long time and will continue to be.

It wasn't necessarily a "horrible" rework, but again, no issues were solved or even remotely looked at. That to many is a failed rework. And I hope they do not do that to Poppy. There is a reason the phrase is "_____ got Olaf'd".

Doctor Dyment2 votes

I can see where you are coming from, but I consider Olaf's changes to be made a long time ago. More recent champion reworks have been god-like, as with Sion (at least to me.) But I thank you for responding in a calm manner to me. God knows some refuse to.
