How to fix adcs outdamaging assassins in melee range

New mechanic: Ranged basic attacks now deal halved damage against champions within 200 range of them.

Will make adcs at least have to keep their range in order to deal ridiculous damage.

Could use some tweaking (dunno what), but the concept as a whole seems pretty good.

Through the years I've seen a lot of ideas proposed on the forums/Boards and I'll congratulate the OP right here and now...

This is the single, worst idea I have ever seen that wasn't a clear and obvious troll thread.

Tell ya what OP, I'll go along with your suggestion so long as damage is doubled if they land an auto at MAXIMUM range. See? Doesn't that sound ridiculous?

If you die to adc in close range as assasin then you are just plain bad with that champ.

The problem isn't that they out damage assassins in mele range, it's that they have such high dps AND burst at the same time that many assassins are simply outclassed by them in damage entirely. I don't care if Draven one shot me when I was three miles away or right on his face, an adc one shotting anything should not exist when they are supposed to be the team's consistent source of dps against tanks, towers, ext. This is one of the reasons that adc's damage is loaded into their auto attacks, they are always going to hit and damage what they click on. The guaranteed damage makes them reliable, and the fact that they are ranged makes them safe. Assassins on the other hand have dodgeable damage and often need to thow themselves into mele in the middle of the enemy team to do their job, meaning that they are risky to use and can fail in doing their job, especially since they tend to have higher cooldowns. Assassins are given burst damage to reward them for skillfully landing their abilities and this lets them do their job despite it being so risky. However, when adcs start bursting people, they are still doing it from the regular range and saftey that they normally have. Especially with the new deffensive adc builds, there is very little risk, and very high reward. They can out burst assassins while still providing enough dps to deal with tanks and objectives that assassins can't match them in either. The second either class dips into the other's strengths, we have a serious problem. A while back it was assassins being way too safe and reliable, now it's with adc bursting people down. I don't want their damage taken away, I want their damage to be dealt over time, like it's supposed to.

sorry but if you are an assassin, and are unable to assassinate the ADC after blowing all your spells then you are just terrible at that assassin... or the assassin is just in such a terrible spot that they cannot kill a champion that builds no defensive items at all.

Quite honestly, I hate the sound of the mechanic. Mostly because I am an ADC main.

Lol Urgot is going to deal literally no damage then since his base attack range is 350.

Wait this is actually really smart. and really obvious.

Most games that have a ranged and melee decision give a benefit to range at a distance, and melee in close range.

Why has riot not considered this?

I remember getting zed ulted and just standing still and drain tanking the zed, refusing to move until one of us died. I felt really bad

Not a problem, just reduce the burst of them. Besides, are you even considering ranged champions who need to be up close? Terrible idea.
