So I propose that his ult activate instantly and delivers two instances of damage.
The first instance should deal 1 true damage and disable all spellshields The second instance is the current damage, but refunds 20% of the cooldown for each champion hit
This will separate good Karthus from great Karthus

Besides, I don't believe the damage is tied to the mark debuff anyways, it's just there to show you how long until the damage hits.
WarlockLaw5 votesIt's not even a debuff, it's purely cosmetic. If you are on the map when he finishes the channel you take the damage. You don't have to be alive or targetable when he casts it either to take the damage when he finishes.

So something does need to change about the ult in general. Even if the new item get's deleted ( which needs to be nerfed for the sake of all the mages ) karthus ult is still unsatisfying.

i am disappointed by this kind of trolling. Seriously, the new item will ruin an already bad champion. I love for his sick character, voice, animation and story as well as his incredibly interesting game-play fantasy. Singing a requiem to the living calling them to the dead as the deathsinger feels pretty underwhelming when it does bugger all against an item with a 30 seconds CD. Seriously, rework/buff or nerf that new item.
