Games feel a little faster, but I certainly don't seem to have 15 minute games like you guys claim.

To be honest, while games feel shorter, I'm nowhere near just the 15 minute mark with most of my games thus far. Most are around 25-35 minutes, as opposed to 35-45 minutes.

Is this just me, and these threads just herd mentality? Or are games actually getting that short? Because I'm not seeing it.

well..closing out the games needs ~20-30min, but most games are indeed kinda lost at min 15already. And even the games that are fairly close just come to an end with just one lost fight after min 25...

game are decided in the first 10 min

I disagree. It's snowbally right now, but definitely not wholly decided. Once stuff is more balanced, everything will work out better.

And what makes you believe it's not Riot's intention to speed up games?

Anidan4 votes

Wouldn't that be tantamount to a giant 'fuck you' to literally every late-game champion they've ever made? Even Koggy after his rework functions best late-game. Just to make them playable they'd have to buff their early-game enough that their 'late-game' would feel inevitable and overbearing. If they don't buff them, they'll just plain be unplayable until Riot shifts the tempo of the game. I really doubt they want late-game champions to be damn near unplayable.

More difficult to utilize sometimes, but not unplayable.

Verxint2 votes

speed up games means speed up the entire game, not buff early game.

Increased gold flow and a lot of these new items offering strong 1 or 2 item powerspikes to many lategame champions means lategame champs come online earlier.

It works, faster games makes less salty players and leavers

They aren't refering to games ending at the 15min mark, but that the outcome of the game is already decided at the 15min mark. If a teams down 6-7 kills, 5-6 towers, 2 dragons, and a rift herald, they'll be hard pressed to win that game. It's possible that they turn out to win, but at that point it's up to the other team to lose the game.

ProfDrDeath3 votes

As it should be at that score, actually.

Being down 6-7 kills and 5-6 towers alone is a reason for the game being mostly over. Add 2 drakes and Harold to that, and your team should be out for the count.

Axis the Dragon7 votes

I think it's mostly the fact that it regularly happens that one team is absolutely stomping the other team by the 15 minute mark - whereas once, more games used to be more even - now stomps are far more common.

OyddAWqJ5r5 votes

It's all a bunch of circlejerking. People are crying about the pre-season being unfun and unbalanced but their only complaints are towers, yasuo, trynd and graves.

All this change is completely welcome to me. I was tired of the stale S5 metagame.

And yes, all my games generally end at around 35 minutes. These kids are exaggerating way too much.

You'll find that the usual more educated posters aren't anywhere to be found on these threads because we all know how circle jerks work.

Leetri2 votes

Yeah, the boards is a terrible place to gauge how people are liking the preseason. At least they stopped circlejerking about Kalista and Riven for now.

Chicken4dinner1 votes

Zed nerf reverts lol, have you seen that?

Drive By Max3 votes

Games seem shorter, and small leads seem more prominent, but the games aren't that much shorter.

KoKoboto3 votes

Its not that the games literally end in 15minutes but by the 15minute mark one team pretty much has victory in their grasp and are just waiting for longer death timers to end it.

ImpossibleGT3 votes

Its the combination of the general snowballiness of the new champion/item configurations, and the fact that the turrets were basically nerfed that is leading to games that "feel" over by 15 minutes, even if they're not actually done. The majority of the games I've played since the preseason patch have had one ADC getting a kill or two ahead then proceeding to steamroll everyone in their path and take every tower. I've found it extremely difficult to shutdown an ADC that has pulled ahead in any way.

So in this way, games can be decided in less that 15 minutes depending on how your bot lane (or any lane, if it has an ADC in it) goes. It's a little frustrating and I hope Riot reins in the snowballing quickly.

Grashnim2 votes

Games for me are a dash faster; however, I notice the team fights aren't quite as long and impressive. It seems like burst city!

Shahamut2 votes

Im in the same boat as you. Shorter, yes. But certainly not 15 min. I have been in a SINGLE game where it was over before 20 min (as in nexus destroyed) and there was an afk (jungle) and 2 out of 3 lanes lost super hard while the 3rd went even.

BluePolarizer6 votes

I had 3 games over before the surrender vote, including one that was right as the surrender vote passed.

Average game time is down from about 34 minutes to 28 minutes.

Bill Gatez2 votes

If you win a game in 15 minutes, good job, mission accomplished.

If you lose a game in 15 minutes it's because you and your team played like ASS, and you deserve to lose.

No complaints here.

I have played 30 games since 5.22.

These are how long each lasted, sorted from greatest to least: 46:08 42:59 41:53 40:48 39:51 36:20 34:12 34:08 32:50 32:40 32:15 31:47 31:28 31:27 31:18 29:57 29:56 29:26 28:19 28:10 27:39 26:29 26:02 24:31 23:51 23:30 21:37 21:33 20:15 19:11 The average length of a game from this data set is 30:41 As you can see, saying every game ends within 15 minutes is an exaggeration. Saying no game can end within 15 minutes is probably an exaggeration as well.

What people are saying

Your head

we're saying the game is DECIDED by the 10-15 minute mark with extremely little chance of a come back. Not that all games are literally ending by that mark ._.

What I am saying

I never said they weren't.

The op literally refers to the game ending by 15 minutes. If not, it's unclear wording.

It's the OP having the same misunderstanding I was addressing in my post to you. So you could say "unclear wording"

WukongMain1 votes

the games before shorter is probably directly related to minions getting to lane slightly sooner, the passive gold you get is increased as well. Some of the earlier items have changed their stats a little bit, which i think help out the early game slightly. these add up to power spikes being met sooner, which translates to using those spikes sooner and more effectively. Which of course, means you appear to have a stronger lead.

However i feel that if you can push past their power spike with lets say, Shyvana. if you can manage to get through their moment if "op", Shyvana's late game will surely turn the game around.

i mean, its a power spike, Its meant to be hard, its meant to overwelm the enemy, you're meant to win while in your power spike.

i feel like during the pre-season changes, these power spikes we all knew of are being used a lot more, rather we know we are, or not. that's why some games are shorter than others.

Personally, i'm okay with this, because we have one counter play against it. Don't Lose. ~ and outscale.
you don't need to win....you just need to not lose. :)

YCitizenSnipsY1 votes

That's because the people that are spamming it aren't even telling the truth. Its just the topic of the day to complain about. Games might be ending faster on average right now, I couldn't tell you I have had two game and one was 50 mins, but this 15 min thing is a complete over exaggeration.

Actually in high elo games are literaly lost before you can even surrender

Just imagine bunch of players knowing how to push advantage after 2 kills

Stephenizgod1 votes

No at first people underestimated how quick a tower can fall so this lead to people taking inhibitors by 10 minutes sometimes. Now that people are starting to understand the changes a bit more they are adapting their strategies either consciously or subconsciously. This means that towers no longer fall as fast because they are staying in lane longer or not leaving their lane opponent for too long. People are picking champions more geared towards pushing so they can push their lanes and leave or take a turret but so is the opponent so its almost the same as before. Teamfights are happening both earlier than before and later than before. Earlier when one laner has pushed out or killed their opponent so they go to a different lane and later because you can't leave your turret anymore unless you want to lose 2 or 3 of them.

I've definitely had a lot of games recently that were pretty much lost for one team or the other by around 16 minutes.

To me 15 minutes is the part in the game that defines the outcome of the game.

I've had a couple of 40 minute games and one of those games a Caitlyn carried because of the stupid Keystone that lets you heal 20% of your damage every crit every TWO seconds. She built like Statik+Phantom and Infinity and Rapid FIre Cannon and Lord Domanik's Revenge and Greaves.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

Games aren't ending in 15 min, but they are decided by then with little room to come back. The general snowballing of the game has intensified.

RellikDloc1 votes

You guys, some people are ignorant and cant read between the lines. So you really have to spell out everything for them, or they will come up with their own dumbass conclusion. Its like "hey I only broke my leg halfway thru the race ok, its not over I can still hop on 1 leg and win". Until someone comes along and explains to them that someone won the race 15 min ago.

Prosecutor Godot1 votes

I actually spectated a game that was full of challengers featured on the front page earlier that literally ended in 15 minutes. Like the nexus went down just 15 minutes in. I think The ADC only had 1 complete item. This is absolutely disgusting, I couldn't even finish a bot game this quick last season.

So... Yeah it's happening.

Lugg1 votes

I have to say that every game I have played this patch has been over by the 10-15 minute mark. I don't think I have played a game yet that made it to 30 minutes.

Irelia Bot1 votes

Games are over by 15 minutes it just takes 10 to 15 minutes to catch up with the game beimg already won.

RisenDarkKnight1 votes

Do you understand the concept of exaggeration? Average game length has gone down by 10 minutes and that is HUGE when the average game length was less than 40 minutes.

TheySeeMeColeing1 votes

Being entirely honest while I have had a few games decided pre 15 minutes, I have also have had several games go well over 45 minutes and one even over an hour so...

Mcprowlington1 votes

It feels more like games have been capped at a certain time. they're a few minutes shorter on average, but games very rarely go over 40 minutes now.

CuteGuy6pack1 votes

Maybe you are in a lower elo, but I haven't had many games last longer than 25 minutes. I haven't seen a single comeback and the game seems like whoever wins bot lane wins the game (Unless there is a trynd or yasuo or another carry melee). This is compared to many 30-50 minute games before the patch that were dead even until last teamfights. Now they are full on steamrolls.

ralsei1 votes

I think it's because last season most things didn't allow you to steam roll as fast, and people are still playing in the style that they can make early mistakes and make it up later on, which has become a lot more difficult in this preseason. So, because of the early deaths, there's earlier towers, which mean people get items earlier, which means they end earlier. So, in a way, I think it should go back to 20-30 min games after a little bit of tuning and everyone getting used to everything.

Baron of Bread1 votes

I wish my most recent games were shorter, they were going 50-60 minutes. I have had some shorter ones, but I don't think the average length is getting anywhere near 20 minutes.
