What Happens If You Don't Ward As A Support?
Hi guys, I'm a support main and I'd just like to explain what happens when we don't ward. I have adc as a secondary role, so I've gotten to see that a lot of low-elo supports try and get away with not warding... atall. Well, the following is what happens... I'd also like to hear what other people have seen happen when wards aren't taken seriously, so please add your own points of view!
Please read the following in the voice of an irrate
What happens if you don't ward atall:
** FULL TEAM INVADE BOTLANE**
- The enemy team can, unbelievably, see if you have not once walked towards a bush to ward. Do you expect your ADC to kill 4/5 people early game? Were you planning to help somehow? Please do tell everyone how your revolutionary build is going to make up for that difference in firepower...
**You get ganked **
- possibly the least dire result, your adc will have noticed you aren't warding and will be playing passive. There's still a chance they'll be caught out, though, especially if the enemy support is literally anything other than a heal-bot.
Despite the risks, you play aggressive and your so adc leaves you to die
- What did you expect?
You play aggressive and your adc tries to save you, so you both die
- Worse yet they could try and save you, but since you slipped up first, you'll be dead first- and they won't have your additional DPS or CC to win the trade. Be sure to flame them about this, as if they can break the laws of math.
Your jungler won't gank for you
- they've got no vision, if they come down river to gank it could turn into a 3v1 for them.
You tilt your jungler and your adc
- probably within 2 minutes of starting, to boot, as you haven't warded the bottom bush.
The enemy bot-lane now controls 2 bushes
- Your adc has 2 wards, there are 4 bushes to ward. Unlike with the other lanes, there are two opponents to keep a track of at every moment (at least) so leaving a bush unwarded is much riskier than it would be in top.
You set up a gank by trying to take CS
- There's an undeniable correlation of supports who don't ward, and supports who try and build AP/AD. Not only do you take CS away from a player it's better used on, -your lack of wards and a pushed lane means you've just set up a gank- for the enemy team.
You put extra strain on your ADC
- no matter your adc they're now having to place the more out of the way wards, they're having to use their abilities / escapes / traps more, and when a fight breaks out, they're going to be out of mana.
You put yourself, your ADC, AND your jungler behind
- You, because you're out of lane and don't get assists. Your jungler because he can't feast on the two squishiest targets on the map, and has to make riskier plays. And your ADC because they're stuck with you.
Gosh it almost sounds like you could throw the entire game by not using your yellow trinket!

Bonus round! "But I don't wanna' buy a sightstone!"
You can't ward dragon
- I mean you can try, but it'll be at the expense of the other wards, so be wise if this choice is one you are forced to make.
You can't ward ahead of team-fights / invades
- Imagine how easy it'd be to pick people off in the jungle if you could see them. Now imagine only the enemy team has this ability.
**Alternatively your refusal to buy a sightstone drives your ADC stark-raving-mad, and they buy one **
- They have more offensive abilities than you, as well as higher damage auto-attacks. But they've decided it's better to -literally- trade **-huge- **amounts of AD/AP scaling away in order to gain objective control. Congratulations on getting your team ahead with your fool-proof plan to slightly improve the power of Sona's Q.
PS. If you're lucky, it'll be the other team's support who doesn't ward, of course! But it is starting to feel to me like the game is determined, a good part of the time, by whose support wards.
