POLL: Who Do You Want In The Vanguard Class Update?

I know it's far away but it's always fun to speculate and throw out some ideas. The classification of a vanguard is that they are "offensive tanks" who have exceptional team fight initiation, allowing their team to follow up. This information is located on Dev Blog: Classes & Subclasses. Not all of these champs will fit perfectly into this category and for the sake of being fair I'll include all who "fall under" the Vanguard subclass even if they are suppose to be reworked in the future, have been changed recently in the past, or are currently healthy/popular.

P.S. Other are those who are less likely to be reworked but can still be applied to vanguards. This includes but is not limited to: Leona, Alistar, Thresh (kinda), Zac, Singed (kinda), etc.

I just hope they do something about Grievous Wounds and anti-Tank items when they do the Tank Item Update since basically two anti-Tank items can turn a Tank into a Mage.

I use those 3 regularly and definitely very strong, especially Malphite!

Sej and Mumu are more of utility tanks with consistent AoE damage and strong CC. The only way to buff them would be to give them more 1v1 killing power, which would make them too OP to send them into nerf hell until they're back to the healthy state they are now. Which would mean players who started playing League after their update and liked them, would be on the boards crying all day about how OP they are.

Malph is just incredibly strong overall if you pick him wisely against a AD team, but even against a AP team, an item 3065 item 3083 offensive build will still allow him to 80% burst all squishies.

Strong =/= Healthy =/= Fun

I think they all suffer from their ults being VERY strong and in contrast their basic abilities suffer from it (Malphite being the worst offender).

I can't speak for everybody else, but my winrate with Malphite is around 55 - 60 top lane against AD favored compositions. The armor scaling on his WE makes him hit super hard and Q allows him to be absolutely glue to any champ. The only champions I can't 1v1 are full build caster mages like Oriana.

2 of my favorite top laners are Malphite Yorick no question (I was a Yorick player before update as well).

At no point in the whole game am I ever behind as Malphite against an AD champ. Even counterpicks like Teemo, Swain fall Q hits level 3 and 4 respectively.

Eh, Rek'Sai was supposed to be a diver/bruiser but he ended up being a full tank. They said they're going to try to push him back into a bruiser role . I think Shen is close enough since he's still a full tank

Rek'sai is an offensive tank though with strong ingage. Technically SHE is still a bruiser but this class update could push her slightly out of the Vanguard role, like how Rengar wasn't really a true assassin but was in the assassin rework. I wouldn't consider Shen to have any ingage really besides his dash. Also his passive, ult, and his aa invulnerability are that of a warden. Who knows, they might change him over to vaunguards but being the protector he is it would seem odd.

Rek'sai probably won't be in it as she's already confirmed to get a minirework similar to shyvana. They want her to be a diving fighter not the vanguard she currently is.

Anyway I'd like for them to visit:

Skarner : He needs revisited, I wish they just gave him a VGU but seeing as he's not priority I'd like him atleast playable until then. His previous juggernaut rework was a failure for making him a control jungle, and he lost his fighting identity that even made him a juggernaut, now he's a vanguard who really needs some work and the tank/vanguard update would be an appropriate time to revisit him.

Maokai : Kinda meh, he's just not a flashy champion and looks like one of the most simplistic kit designs in the game. You don't really pay attention to what you're doing with maokai, you should just pretend you are and you win off of pure beef stats alone. He needs more interaction in his kit besides pressing R and then mashing W and Q on the carries when they're off CD.

Skarner is not a vanguard. He only has single target cc and doesn't have the ability to initiate alone.

You see the issue now? He's meant to be a vanguard, designed to be a fighter/juggernaut, and now in his current state he's just a tank who ignitiates with his single target ultimate.

He will be. Riot already said they are swapping him to vanguard. Most likely he will be in the update. Riot Repertoir said they have changes for him.

I'll probably get flamed or down voted but what about Mordekaiser as a vanguard. He has AOE initiation , personal shield, and his W has to be used with the buddy system.

Well to initiate you either have to have strong cc like Malphite and Leona or have ways to buff your allies, most likely with movement speed, like Sivir and Kled. Morde is known for not having cc and he doesn't seem like the guy to buff his allies, maybe...

Mords W buffs his and a target ally's speed, does AOE damage, and can be reactivated to steal HP for an instant heal. Although they have to be in range of each other and it is only 4 seconds but with a rylais and his combined with his w it can be a good initiation tool

Not all of those in the poll are Vanguards. Hec is a diver, Maokai is a warden, and Voli is a juggernaut.

Well I asked who you MOST wanted to see in the class update sooo that's one answer. Also I think a poll does better in representing data instead of multiple comments that get upvoted and downvoted, allowing only popular opinion to be noticed. Surprisingly I care about everyone's opinion, even idiotic ones like yours.
