Seriously these things are cost effective and EVERYONE can afford to buy one. But I honestly can't even ask that much from anyone considering people still don't even remember to use their trinkets.

None of these changes will improve warding. It's a people problem, not a system problem. Riot expects everyone to magically llearn the game thtough trial and error. Good luck. Why would some spend gold on a pink trinket if no one tells them the how to effectively use it?

They could have just kept it as it was: give people who care the tools to ward, thus allowing them to attain a higher ELO. Out of my last 20 games, 12 were roles other than support, and I had #1 most wards in four of those, #2 in five, and #3 in three. Not once less than the #3 spot. I like to think that this would improve my chances in ranked, though I haven't been there yet.

I mean it actually hurts to buy them if you don't know where to place them. Buying a pink ward is a bad idea if you are losing lane and can't defend it so your enemy laner just kills it for free right after you place it.
Naomi CoffeeGoat1 votesI don't think gaining vision with a permanent ward counts as just giving away free gold. The cost is next to nothing and you can place it down and never have to pay for another if no one spots it. Buying more vision for your team is never a bad idea.
RisenDarkKnight1 votesI'm not talking about when you ward a random bush in the enemy jg I mean if you ward near your lane and the enemy laner clears it as soon as they come back (because you're behind and can't all in them)
xV2x1 votesUr pink is generally placed defensively. Somewhere u ALREADY can defend. Not in front of u that u hope u can push enough to claim as urs. The reason u place it defensively is so if they start to push and claim a little ahead with a ward u can take it out in a matter of seconds. And on the other end, if u happen to push hard enough and claim more area u don't lose vision of behind u where u could possibly get ganked. And since it's not a regular ward u don't hafta worry about over placing wards and ur defensive ward dissappearing.
RisenDarkKnight1 votesI'm not saying well placed pink wards are bad, just that a lot of people just end up wasting 75 gold (and giving 30 to the enemy). People who are good at vision control already buy enough pinks, people who don't know what they are doing with them usually end up just hurting their team by buying them. I'd rather have an ally who bought no pink wards than one who bought 3 that lasted less than a minute total and didn't protect from any ganks.

Yrzen1 votesNow that farsight alteration exists wherein you can literally put down infinite vision wards for free, they aren't cost effective anymore.
That leaves their job as a long-lasting red trinket, which itself is now outclassed by oracle's alteration.
