"why arent they doing a support update?"
ok, ive been reading this question multiple times on the boards now, and there are two reasons why there hasnt been a major support rework yet.
first off all, "support" is not a class of champions. when riot does roster update, theyre usually focusing on specific classes or sub classes of champions. juggernauts, marksmen, assassins, vanguards. those arent roles on a team, but classes of champions of which these champions can take certain roles on a team.
a juggernaut can be a carry
, a tank can be a support
, a marksman can be a jungler
, an enchanter can be a jungler
etc.
if we were to get a "support update" it would be more of an "enchanter update" focusing on a specific sub class of champions like
and similar enchanter class champions. which might or might not happen at some point.
the second major reason is, that support itemization has already been updated every preseason, and even this meadseason so far.
itemization changes are usually playing a large role in roster updates, and riot has payed more attention to support (and adc) itemization in the the past years than to any other class of champions. constantly adding items, updating them or changing them in an attempt to make the role feel more impactful.
with the most recent additions in preseason
, the changes to existing support items and the addition of heal and shield amp to their items.
