Why is Master Yi labelled as an assassin?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't assassins supposed to have burst? Yi doesn't really have this. I think a more appropriate term is hyper-scaling dps champ who also gets cooldowns reduced on kills/assists. He's essentially the AD version of Katarina (minus the burst). Having said this, Master Yi is in kind of a weird spot right now. He's played as an assassin, but due to his lack of burst, his early game is extremely weak. Since Master Yi is also kind of a bruiser (let's face it, he is usually your front line), I think we should give him more bruiser stats (increase his base HP and defenses, and/or HP and def per level). In exchange for this, we make his early game a little bit weaker, but he will still be just as strong late game. TLDR, turn Master Yi into a bruiser that scales into late game. Assassin Yi is too weak to carry, but late game bruiser Yi is an absolute monster (kind of like Jax). We should improve bruiser Yi to make him more viable.

Because he is a reset-rampage assassin, much like Katarina.

He walks into a half health team and because he is continuously getting kills he is able to stay untargetable for longer periods of time and continue to do more damage. He is also incredibly difficult to duel.

It's the same reason Tristana has an assassin secondary tag.

Bruiser Yi is still viable. Try building items that mix damage and defense, like item 3022 item 3071 item 3078 on him, allows him to not get vaporized the moment he shows his face.

This brings up a great point.

Assassins don't always have burst, just like some mages don't have burst and some ADCs actually do have burst. These labels are just guidelines so you can get a feel for a champion's capabilities before you play them.

no, he's played as a fking ninja

never have i seen a non glass cannon yi

Its actually controversial among Yi mains whether to build Yi bruiser or glass. I strongly prefer bruiser because my internet's bad, thus the slightly higher ping that might let a good internet glass Yi get away with 1 hp, would kill me.

Because he is an assassin. He waits for a good time to strike, jumps in, gets resets and strikes again.

Similar to Katarina, but AD and much better in 1v1 and splitpushing cases.

I play Yi as a bruiser and do just fine. He doesn't need that much defense scaling since he's extremely slippery. He plays nothing like Katarina. Katarina wants to pick teamfights, Yi wants to splitpush; Katarina wants to burst down targets, Yi chases them down with superior sustained damage.

Probaly cause his Q can one shot most squishes (marksman, Mage) when he's at full build

Um, Yi is freakishly dangerous, yet also has clear weaknesses (poor early game and general squishiness). He does not need either buffs or nerfs.
