Did I make a huge mistake by not disenchanting Skin Shards before the patch?

It seems you get far, FAR less Orange Essence for disenchanting them now. Half.

The thing is I did buy quite a few of these loot boxes with RP. Now my $$$ is worth less overnight somehow? I really dont understand this change. Maybe they wanted to cut down on the OE people were getting from free boxes? But as someone who paid real money for a lot of my shards it feels like I got robbed honestly. The things I paid money for were suddenly reduced in value by half for no real reason.....

Is there any plan to compensate people who buy boxes with RP? I can tell you for a 100% fact that I will never buy one ever again. Honestly it feels like a borderline scam to stealth nerf them but keep the price the same while simultaneously devaluing all the ones people already bought.

I've legitimately been scammed out of close to 5000 OE because I didnt disenchant them before a certain day. Thats actually close to $50 gone overnight. I paid real $$$ for most of these. DO NOT buy ANY loot boxes until there is some sort of compensation for buying them with RP or the price gets cut in half

Riot, what is your plan for dealing with this?

They had a little warning on client to disenchant your skins shards for 2 weeks. 100% on you dude.

The part that says disenchant your shards it literally labeled under "IP & Blue Essence". So I disenchanted all my champ shards. Kinda misleading that they never once actually mention orange essence a single time then hide the part about disenchanting skin shards under a big BLUE ESSENCE title?

They had a Dev Corner Post and an In-Client Alert warning you about this weeks ago.
There is a good reason for this! The opposite of the ratio of change in disenchant amount, is the ratio of how more often skin shards are looted. Its a better system. And Preseason is the best time to make this change.

They warned about BLUE ESSENCE, not Orange Essence. They never said anything about orange essence.

I do not remember what the in client alert text was. But I got the impression that you needed to disenchant skins too.

Sadly, as much as I don't want to admit that you, me, and all the other players of this game have made a mistake by not disenchanting our skin shards... We have indeed made that mistake. Yes, it is true that they have not mentioned that they would be tampering with the value of orange essence items. However, if you read Riot's Terms of Use policy you will find this under section 4 of their virtual goods policy:

NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY HEREIN, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU SHALL HAVE NO OWNERSHIP OR OTHER PROPERTY INTEREST IN YOUR ACCOUNT, AND THAT ALL RIGHTS IN AND TO YOUR ACCOUNT ARE AND SHALL FOREVER BE OWNED BY AND INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF RIOT GAMES. YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU HAVE NO CLAIM, RIGHT, TITLE, OWNERSHIP, OR OTHER PROPRIETARY INTEREST IN THE GAME CONTENT THAT YOU UNLOCK OR ACCUMULATE, REGARDLESS OF ANY CONSIDERATION OFFERED OR PAID IN EXCHANGE FOR RIOT POINTS OR VIRTUAL GOODS.

Basically, this states that even though you paid for these good with your hard earned money you still don't technically own the items you've purchased. Those shards you and I have collecting in our accounts? Yeah, we don't own them according to their policy, so they can do with those items as they please. Believe me I don't defend Riot's actions here in the slightest, but this is how businesses work: by attempting to make ironclad policies and contracts that protect them from lawsuits and other disputes.

Here are the options we have:

Quit, and take your business elsewhere where you're more valued as a customer.
Deal with it and re-roll the skins you don't want.
Sell the skins you don't like to try to save orange essence to unlock the one you want, and shed a few tears because you had to lose so much orange essence. [sg-soraka]

sorry dude, but they did say in client to disenchant shards you don't want. that's on you unfortunately.
