Has Riot ever thought of implementing a splash mechanic to nexus towers?

With the nerf to the Nexus towers, they can only target the super minion, wouldn't it be nice if we gave those towers splash to get rid of a couple other minions in 3-4 hits?

I was actually thinking it would be like a hydra proc around the target, and blue

Spoofghoul1 votes

It could also throw Gangplank barrels

It makes sense, which is why Rito won't do it.

No, it really doesn't.

The biggest problem for Nexus Towers is that superminions can take them out all by themselves.

And the super-minions are literally the only type of minion they encounter.

Nexus Towers are worthless right now.

Muddafragot5 votes

Towers aren't players, they shouldn't be powerful enough to defend themselves left unchecked. It's your job to make sure those super minions don't get to the nexus towers, because you failed to protect your inhibs. Buffing nexus towers would defeat the purpose and reward behind destroying inhibs, to force the enemy team to devote time to defending those last two towers and bringing matches closer to their end.

Trias0005 votes

You would still have to defend, because the minions would constantly push into your towers and destroy them eventually. It's not like you could leave the nexus towers alone and merrily chase kills around the jungle.

Muddafragot1 votes

Yeah. So?

Trias0001 votes

So this

Buffing nexus towers would defeat the purpose and reward behind destroying inhibs

is not true

Muddafragot1 votes

That depends on the degree to which you want them to be buffed. Strong enough to destroy supers and surrounding minions at the same time as the OP suggests is way too much.

AninLegions7772 votes

The "reward" for destroying inhib turrets isn't for Superminions to solo two turrets, it is to perma-push that lane and allow the winning enemy to take other objectives. This got out of hand and Riot nerfed turrets so much that that purpose was forgotten.

Muddafragot1 votes

...Okay, back up, explain how getting objectives doesn't fit into the enemy team having to defend their nerfed towers? Cuz stronger nexus towers that don't need so much defending definitely does not add up to "allow the winning enemy to take other objectives" so much as it would have the exact opposite effect.

AninLegions7771 votes

Do we play the same game? "Defending" nexus turrets?! Ha! Once a team has at least 2 tanks, they dive nexus turret easypeasy. Worst case one or both tanks die but they ace the enemy team. Nexus turrets are WEAKER than outer turrets. Did you know that? Pfft. They are a joke right now. The weakest in the game protecting the most important objective. Also, if they are buffed, it won't make them defend less. It'll make them defend more cos they know how strong it is. Think about it this way. You have $13 in a safe. If you hear someone is coming to steal it, you'll be like, meh. But if you have $13000, you'll find every way possible to make it secure.

Muddafragot1 votes

...How does money in a safe relate to tower buffs? You're not making any sense.

AninLegions7771 votes

I'm not responsible for your low understanding. Money in a safe signifies that it is of value and turrets are valuable. How you did not get that correlation is beyond me.

Muddafragot1 votes

'low understanding' is not a thing, and that was not a correlation you were trying to make. This is just a case of you misusing words and concepts you don't understand (see, that's how you should be using that word).

By the time minions are kicking down your Nexus or Inhib towers, you've got bigger problems than missing CS....

rito specified they wanted players to be able to farm under turret, so it's pretty unlikely i personally believe faster attack speed is what it really needs in order to not ruin that and still make it do more damage than a lv10 adc

CritMedic63 votes

If your trying to farm under nexus tower's i think there is a bigger issue than getting CS

That's farming under the enemy's nexus towers, not your own. In that case, you should not want nexus towers be buffed.

Farming under "Nexus tower" ? really?

notice me Sin pi1 votes

Yes. You should always farm under nexus tower 50min into game rather than taking care of the enemy Tryndamere

Turrets should shred armor and deal a % of the targets missing health that doubles each consecutive shot.

Riot really hates stalemate games. You can see what happened back when towers and waveclear were even stronger back in Season 2. LCS games that should have been lost at 25 mins get dragged out to 50+ min until the gold lead is equalized, not in some miraculous hold but as a matter of course.

Over the years they've nerfed turrets, made baron buff promote sieges by buffing minions, changed dragons so that the dragon you gave up at 20 mins remains relevant at 50 mins instead of just being a gold lead. I don't think you'll see Riot backpedaling on this design direction to add more defenses.

What? In season 2, auto attackers could facetank full health turrets without minions waves haha.

Forget this silly splash mechanic! Let's just turn the nexus turrets into giant Sunfire Capes!

Spoofghoul1 votes

Throwing Gangplank barrels at minions too

And they now have Thornmail and Hextech Gunblade which occasionally zaps stuff priortizing enemy champions

Make turrets great again

Glory ln Death1 votes

Make them periodically do the Nexus Siege thing, where they become invulnerable for a few seconds and then explode everything around them!

ThePartyLeader2 votes

So when the enemy is pushing down your nexus turrets we have literally devolved into. I would win if my Nexus turrets were stronger....

AninLegions7771 votes

Missing the point. It means a team should not be punished by losing a game just because they lost 1 inhibitor. There should always be room for comebacks.

But they should be punished for losing an inhibitor. They should be punished for losing any objective. Otherwise you just pick late game comps

AninLegions7771 votes

They already are. That lane is always pushed. They can't risk contesting other objectives cos they might lose nexus turrets. That's enough. Losing two or three is when losing turrets should become a thing.

YambrinZ1 votes

NO. Riot has already caved over and over by adding comeback mechanics and getting rid of splitpushing almost altogether.

DJMason883 votes

How did they get rid of split pushing and add comeback mechanics?
