magic damage is typically bursty and costs a decent amount of mana. magic resist is more powerful than armor for this reason. health is also a much more valuable defensive stat against magic damage than it is against physical. if you're struggling against magic damage it's often a good idea to invest in some hp as well as MR.

if you back with 400 and need to survive against a magic damage dealer, try a ruby crystal or a second dorans item. even if ruby crystal isnt in your build path, you can turn it into a sightstone and make it super efficient until you sell it later :)

i know it is more valuable.

when it was 400 i wasn't complaining.

Because killing people is the only thing AP champions are good for. It's harder to kill them to make up for how much more useful AD champions are, even when they're behind.
