So whats wrong with taliyah's new W???

Ok, I used to main Taliyah before this rework. This rework is BAD. The vector casting is good for line abilities, such as Viktor's E and Rumble's R (both go in a straight line) but Taliyah's W is a CIRCLE. Also it is SUPER HARD to land a W while also trying to move because the second you move, it gets fucked. The old E was easy to land. Press and point. Now it is Point, press, point again.
Are you someone who spammed Taliyah before the W change and hate the vector casting that it was just updated to or someone who likes the change? Because, the old W was just so clunky and difficult that it scared many people away from the champion. It felt awkward to use and so clunky I'm surprised the ability made it through Riot's testing without the vector casting at all. People who play Viktor and Rumble can now easily transfer the mechanics they know from the E and R of those champions, respectively, over to Taliyah. The ability on vector casting is also much easier to use, especially for newer Taliyah players. It reduces her skill floor without changing the skill ceiling at all, and is a pretty reasonable buff to get more people interested in playing the champion.
on the contrary the old w felt much more fluid to me after just two games, and was objectively faster and you couldn't cancel it accidentally by issuing a movement command that could be the difference between life and death on a champ as squishy as taliyah, it feels like utter garbage to have the spell take longer to cast because some people couldn't figure out a new mechanic on their first game. its utterly ridiculous how much clunkier the new w is if you play at anywhere near her max potential.
Her kit feels pretty fluid to me. I only played her once pre-rework so I can't speak for that, but her kit now is fine. All 3 times that I played her, I carried my games or had a very good KDA and won lane easily.
She is an incredibly strong laner and does decently in team fights.
Honestly i firmly believe once people get used to laning vs her you will notice its much harder to hit the w without canceling it by inputting a movement command or trying to quickly throw out your e. Id be willing to bet quite confidently that for experienced taliyah players even if they become proficient with the new cast method its a heavy nerf.
I suppose it is if you are experienced with Taliyah pre rework. I don't have trouble landing her W though. Normally they are already slowed by my E which makes it almost a guarantee that I land my W.

I suspect I just spammed but learned to use it in a way that I now can't really tell the difference
so to reproduce the bad part it sounds like you have to cancel it with movement. I'll try this
tried doing it, it seems to just still be on a delay like always, but yes you can accidentally cancel it now but I figured out you can guarantee its cast by left clicking between right clicks after the marker is down.
Okay so I just played a game with Taliyah. Her new W is absolutely horrible and impossible to land. The old W was so so so much better and it felt right. The vector on this new W is all fcked up. Right before I cast the goddamn W, It messes up and the vector goes in completely wrong direction.
did you try left clicking after the initial cast to lock in the cast?
This change to her w just completely ruined my favorite champ for me. I was honestly too scared of the vector cast to try out her rework before yesterday, and I found that it was completely rational fear. There are so many reasons why I found the old casting to be better. As mentioned here, you couldn't accidentally cancel it before. It's extremely hard to use a w now when it takes me 2-3 tries to actually get my w out, and by that point either the entire enemy team has collapsed on me while I was trying to cast an ability, or I've been chased so far away from my e that all my damage is just gone. Another downside is that the ability just casts WAY slower now. The old w had it so that the first instant you pressed w, the ability started casting, with the second press of w being used to aim it. This was very useful in giving you time to think about what direction would be best to launch your opponent before pressing w the second time, while still having the ability come out just as fast. The new w wont cast until you release w, which is much much MUCH slower, and makes it almost impossible for me to land a combo. The only somewhat decent thing to come out of this patch is that you can w -> e, but I find that not to be very useful when you can't pull off a regular e -> w without cancelling the w. I think the old w should be brought back and vector scrapped entirely, or at least we should have the option to go back to the old casting. But maybe I just need to get used to vector casting, I'm not sure.
