Riot, the fact that it took you a whole year to even begin introducing fixes on PBE
to the game's biggest problems is extremely disturbing to me. I won't jump to conclusions and automatically assume that every employee in your company is either incompetent or work-shy, but ask yourself this: If this was any other game from another big name company, do you seriously believe that it would be acceptable to have an entire year's worth of a broken meta? If Overwatch spent an entire year, like you did, with broken mechanics and games that were decided within the first objective, with no hope of comeback for the other team, would you consider that acceptable? Especially from Blizzard? Or how about if CS:GO spent an entire year, where SMGs were the only weapons worth using? Would that be OK to you?
I am not going to give you leeway or forgiveness by talking to you like you're some small time indie developer. The time in which you could be described as an indie company is long gone. If you can't make use of all the resources, money and manpower currently available to you, then what is the point of being such a big name in gaming? Is it an ego thing? Is it so you can brag about it to other people? If the rumors about the internal culture of Riot is any indication, then I find that to be entirely 100% believable. But let's be honest, your ego won't mean jack a year after your game becomes irrelevant. Players will just move onto the next big thing.
Take a good long look at how your company does things. I am, of course, saying this because I want the game to be good and I want the motivation to play it, however, since your first thought will likely be to write off what I say because I am a nameless nobody, allow me to put it in terms that will give you the motivation to care. If the game has major and obvious problems, do you really think people will stick around based on loyalty alone? There comes a point where loyalty is not enough to assuage someone's frustrations. This is true for just about everybody. Do not think the players who are so blinded by your past grandeur will be enough to sustain your company financially. Or that it'll be enough for Tencent.
Oh, and before you bring up Esports as an excuse for not introducing fixes to the meta quickly enough, might I add that other Esports games have absolutely no problem making changes, despite tournaments and their schedules throughout the year? Using Esports as an excuse to do nothing for the sake of the average player is not good enough and it never was.
