Shaco Gameplay Update

There are two things I want to address which is his poor gameplay patterns and low counter play when against Shaco while making Shaco competitively viable. The ideas will allow Shaco to help him be balanced better between patches and no longer have this effect of Shaco cannot be nerfed because he is low played outside of Shaco mains and cannot get buffed because of his problematic issues within his kit. Something I want to do is emphasize on Shaco's jester theme and wanting to trick and get in the head of his opponent; while trying to keep his kit as close to the same as it currently is while removing and adding new things. The things being removed will be things like his blink (stealth will be buffed and some new effects to the spell) since the no counter play to blinks and even worse with a blink into stealth; also backstab [his passive] will be removed completely, but the mechanic will remain within his kit (the damage amp makes it difficult for Shaco to be balanced).

You Got Me! (Passive): Cooldown: 150 seconds Upon taking lethal damage to 1 health point Shaco throws down a clone of himself that ends up dying for himself to become invulnerable for 1 second, cleanses all current burning and poison damage, and goes into stealth for 6 seconds while gaining a large boost of movement speed of 200% that decays over 6 seconds.

Deceive (Q): Cooldown: 11/10.5/10/9.5/9 seconds after stealth; Cost: 50/60/70/80/90 Mana Shaco instantly stealth for up to 4/5/6/7/8 seconds and gains 20% movement speed while stealth.

While stealth, Shaco may activate Deceive again to place a visible motionless clone at his current location and gain a 250% burst of movement speed that decays over 0.5 second. The clone will detonate if it takes any damage or after Shaco has emerged from stealth for 0.75 second to explode dealing 80/125/170/215/260(+65%AP) magic damage to all enemies within 375 units.

Jack in the Box (W): Cooldown: 16 seconds; Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 Mana; Range: 425 units Shaco summons a box at the target location that stealth after a 2 seconds delay and lasts for up to 40/45/50/55/60 seconds. When an enemy comes within 300 units, the box springs open: causing surrounding enemies to turn and flee while it attacks nearby enemies for up to 5 seconds dealing 45/55/65/75/85(+20%AP) magic damage per attack.

Two-Shiv Poison (E): Cooldown: 8 seconds; Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 Mana; Range: 625 units Passive: Shaco takes 10/15/20/25/30 less damage from monsters and his basic takes slow his target by 25/30/35/40/45% for 1 second; this slow is disabled while Two-Shiv Poison is on cooldown.

Active: Shaco throws a dagger at a target enemy to deal 60/90/120/150/180(+60%AP)(+80% Bonus AD) magic damage and slow the struck unit by 40/50/60/70/80% that decays over 2 seconds. If the dagger hits the target from behind then the damage is increased to 90/135/180/225/270(+90%AP)(+120%Bonus AD) magic damage. Two-Shiv Poison may be used on Hallucinate's clone to detonate the clone early and apply the slow to the clone's explosion.

Hallucinate (R): Cooldown: 100/90/80 seconds; Cost: 100 Mana Shaco vanishes for 0.5 seconds, then creates a clone of himself that will last for up to 18 seconds.

The clone deals (+75%Total AD)(+30%AP) physical damage per attack and receives 50% extra damage. This clone deals 50% damage to towers and inhibitors. At the end of its duration or when dying the clone will explode, dealing 300/450/600(+100%AP) magic damage to enemies within 250 units.

Hope you appreciate the ideas! Let me know your comments and concerns in a proper and civilized fashion. ~ Stacona

thanks i guess? just wondering if this rework concept makes Shaco feel more like a jester than he does now and is he also this blood thirsty jester that wants to kill and trick everyone he sees?

insaiyanbacca1 votes

it does make him feel like jester who tricks people, and yes his lore is hes a demonic jester who enjoys killing

i know what his theme is; i just want to leave ideas to fix his poor gameplay, make him viable, and make him actually more jester like than what he currently is

well he is actually viable right now and really good, his gameplay is honestly just meh and this would be interesting and would give him a cool theme kit-wise but one thing the passive remind me to much of leblancs passive you might wanna change it a bit

probably because they both of trickery going on-- this is a fan concept so shoot up ideas-- the problem with his damage amp backstab passive is that it is a damage amp passive which the damage amp is very hard to balance and makes shaco a problematic champion there and just gets nerfed because of the damage amp; while blink stealth into an amplified crit is also not good because no way to play around that especially since he can not only ignore every wall in the game but he is also stealth afterwards for further no counter play. while keep the backstab mechanic only on his E shaco can be balanced better for future patches

well here is an idea i had: basically whoever killed him would get a nocturne ult style vision reduction for say 5 second and this passive would have about a 2 min cooldown. hows that?

How does that help Shaco at all? The current concept passive is more of a last stand survivability passive where Shaco makes you think you killed him, but you really didn't--- besides not sure how darkness CC goes with a jester; Nocturne is a nightmare so people are afraid of the dark and have nightmares of being alone in a dark place

well im just throwing out ideas another possibility could be a kind of sion/kog style passive where he would go into an insane fury attacking random targets while having insane amounts of ms. its just that the current passive while good seems to much like leblancs passive with the whole clone and invis thing

it is okay for passive to seem familar; but to clarify it is shaco "dies"seeing a dead body and everything suppose to two copies and the fake one can be controlled by the real one and you guess which one is right, this is more like shaco only goes into a stealth with a very powerful decaying movement speed to run away; there is less trickey than leblanc's passive; so it is slightly more like anivia's passive just more running away rather than second life and can try to bait people into killing that low health shaco just to find his passive was ready and he runs away and his team cleans up the baited targets - or even baiting your low health with the enemy running into a bunch of jack in the boxes---

so it is more like a second chance and baiting passive rather than guess the real shaco, he has his ultimate and my new Q for that- since the clone dies immediately

No. Do not change Shaco. Shaco is perfect.

No he is not; and he has many problematic gameplay problems and balancing issues right now Not to mention not fun playing against shaco

For a champion "has many problematic gameplay problems and balancing issues right now", Riot doesn't seem too concerned about it.

(PS: While I think you still missed the mark a little with this update, it at least seems better than your last attempt)

What is missed then? Feel free to tell me what I am missing; the blink stealth into a free amplified crit both with the spell itself and backstab is not good gameplay cause no way around that besides luck of not dying; dying because you were tricked is better than complete bull sht you couldnt play against

damage amp is something really hard to balance and eventually gets removed like Ahri and Kayle [the damage amp on Fizz ult is a mistake and I am sure Riot will eventually remove that too, the question is When?]; other two champions are Swain and Vlad, Vladimir I am more fine with especially since that is the only thing the ultimate brings to the table; Swain has been in a bad spot overall on multiple fronts, he is a weird raven human thing and not sure what his identity is suppose to be and what role is he meant to fulfill...

But anyways, let me know what I am missing, this Shaco feels better to play against (of course cannot play test so no way to fully know this), Shaco seems like he will be more fun to play as and as a murderous jester that he is, concepts always need a lot of work. Update concepts at least already have a base to go off of
