At what stage are you considered "bad" for not advancing past a rank after "x" games?

For example would a player who's played:

600 normal games 250 ranked games

And still stuck in bronze "bad?"

Or can the opposite hold true when they only require half or a third of the required number of games to advance?

Only 850 games? Bronze is to be expected.

Don't sweat it. Really. Everyone learns at a different pace, everyone puts different amounts of effort into learning. Some people just play to have fun, to unwind, and though some may not like it, to more or less zone out. Not everyone is a total tryhard, and that's fine. As long as you are proud of where you are at, that's all that matters.

Take me for example. I was a Plat V player in high school, but now 3 years later, I am in Silver IV. And you would not believe how excited I was to promote to Silver IV. I've played easily 6000+ games since I started in Season 2, but that doesn't really matter.

The game changes ALL THE TIME. It's basically not even the same game as it was when I started. Every champ I've ever mained has been reworked, and the items have changed drastically.

Keep in mind, Bronze III - Silver I is where 50% of all players are at. Even being a Bronze III player, you're fitting right in with most of the crowd, and you're even beating some people in terms of skill. Trust me. I know a few people stuck in deep DEEP Bronze V. It's a thing.

GL HF out there. But mostly HF.

Logically; None. People progress at different speeds and learning plateaus happen in everything that requires any significant amount of brainpower.

Who cares if you've played 5436298635432 games and are still Bronze 5? The people who are going to point it out in a negative way are the same people who would laugh at you for trying something new in the real world. Would you bother with listening to those people? I certainly hope not.

Only took me like 4 seasons of ranked to make gold 5. Then I start in bronze this year, get stuck in silver 5 after having reached silver 3 and been in promos for s2. And about 400 games into the season, finally return to gold 5. Climb to gold 5 promos, get losing streak that nearly drops me back to silver. Now climbing.

Moral of the story? It really depends on win/loss streaks and how regularly you run into games where it is literally impossible to win and how regularly you lose because you messed up. I can't fix others who choose to make the same "mistake" 20 times in one game and make it impossible to win. I can look at my play, realize where I could improve, learn to study my opponent faster and figure out their tendencies and weaknesses/strengths, and improve my play so that more of the 50/50 games where I CAN have an influence go in my favor. It's not about "good" or "bad", but improving individually and as a team player. I might get frustrated because my team ignores an obvious easy win condition even after I say it or ping it multiple times. Because they might not have the experience to recognize it is the safest, best win condition. But at the same time, they might look at a duel or 1v2 I end up in and wonder why I died or lost the trade. Because they have better mechanics than me. Just because I'm gold doesn't mean I'm better than every silver or that I'm good. I've played vs a g3 as a g5 and won despite him getting jungle help; that was 1 game - it hardly means I am the better player. I might be, but maybe not. I've been stomped a handful of games when i was still in silver. Does that mean those guys should be g4 or better? Not necessarily.

If you are stuck for awhile, don't feel bad. Just look to improve YOUR play, watch some vods or streams from higher ranked players, and try to learn from them. Try to stay positive - I know it is hard - i got chat restricted during my 2 week losing streak in silver because I spoke my mind to players who were inting and being rude to me all game. I deserved the restriction; some of them deserved a temp ban. And if you do find yourself getting really tilted or negative, find something else to take your mind off league for awhile.
