Funneling with Yuumi

I thought of this scenario last night, after seeing a Thread about Yuumi not being released/ shouldn't be released, and a comment about funneling, and watching some of her gameplay:

Can't Yuumi just backpack on a jungler with high mobility/gankability like Hecarim LeeSin , and level faster than supporting bot, simply by mooching their kills and soaking ambient nearby minion death XP?

If you watch a lot of Yuumi play, something becomes obvious: She struggles in lanes with adc, because by attaching, she funnels all the damage taking to the adc and dies as a result.

Junglers on the other hand..... generally are designed to both engage AND peel 2+ targets while soaking damage. So as a result, most Yuumi play after lane phase is her attaching to a strong jungler.

I think this might be a serious concern, because there are junglers who literally gank lane after lane with enough frequency that backpacking on them would level and farm Yuumi just fine.... while making their (jungler's) ganks just immaculate.

Something I've already seen Yuumi backpacking a jungler do:

-Jungler initiates a fight under a turret. Yuumi skills after them, switching aggro. -Yuumi dies to turret aggro while buying jungler 2-4 Turret hits, and because Yuumi was never damage/targetted by the opposing champs, it's a clean int, and she gets her assists for the jungler's shutdowns.

... You know you don't have to cling to them perpetually? I don't think you really SHOULD, outside of curving Qs or padding your own health once YOURE too low to stay in lane but your carry cant afford to recall (say theyre sitting on 950g, have a pot running, or lane is in a position to clear a large wave/jungler ganking amongst other reasons why you wouldn't back despite having no HP on your Support)

There's a significant cost to detaching: Your opponent will also all-in you, because they know for 10 seconds you have no option but to split.

I'm not saying you can't. I'm saying it's almost always better to be with a jungler than with an adc.

maybe make her not get xp while attached from jungle monsters? Wouldn't that fix some of it?

Yummi would already get zero exp from jungle mobs. All exp goes to the killer.

oh I didn't know that

She doesn't get exp from jungle. Only the person killing a jungle monster gets exp.

She already wouldn't. I'm saying successful ganks would give her XP, along with LANE minions.

Lee Sin, Hec, and Jarvan often spend more time ganking than farming, and they have the map mobility to do it.

Basically she makes her jungle tanky as hell vs tower shots I didn't think of it that way. Even if she dies since no one harmed her it's a 0 gold execute. Which lets be honest it should be first blood.

Wait. Holy shit. That's genius. Yuumi suicide aggros the tower, dies to an execute, and her team gets the kill punishment free.

im evil like that. lol

Honestly, how is this any different than Taric helping the jungler?

Illabethe1 votes

Because Taric can give a kill, and his ult is delayed.

at least IF taric dies its a kill fed to the enemy??? but if yummi is a attached onto a champion shes basically used as tower armor which gives said tower armor to the assassin/diver.

I think she'd be a vaste opn lee or similar already mobile champs. Her main strength is that she can add alot catchup potential to her allie with the speedboost and slow, so she'd be great at enableing junglers like voli or udyr.

My counterargument there would be this:

Champions who generally can't go over walls, and are single attackers, generally spend more time farming, so Yuumi following them would be detrimental to Yuumi's development.

I'm speaking about the fact certain junglers gank from level 2 onwards, and literally gain their levels from successful ganks, going over walls, and leeching lane XP. Udyr still mostly XP's from camps.

Champs like Lee Sin have HUGE benefits tied up in Yuumi's stat transference, barrier, and heal. Lee can also use Yuumi as a safeguard target that travels with him.

Udyr and Voli both can be just effect early gankers thx to yuumis assistance, they have all the cc and damage needed, and withn yuumi they also have the means to reach their opponents. But mostly, they can just live in the enemy jungle and bully the opposing jungler and with the support of yuumi, they scale into scary teamfighters in the midgame.

the thing with funnle is, you don't just get yuumi as a 6th player, you either give up your midlane or play with a solo botlane tro free her up for duo jungle.

The issue with a champ like lee is, what does the duo of him and yuumi offer past the earlygame? The reason why Yi+tarik funnle for example was a thing is because yicould use the extra resources to reliably hyperscale and carry games while tarik additional enables him alot in teamfights with tons of extra survivabillity and solid CC, it's more a strat to offset weaknesses. In the case of yummi and Lee, it would be amplifying strength in the early with a poor late and i don't think that's enough to justify not haveing a proper midlane.

The entire point of this thread is to point out this is a legitimate strategy that requires no skill that shuts out games EARLY.

ie .... there is no late game required. Late game..... Yuumi can tag someone else.

I'm saying this strategy creates an automatic 3v1 situation in every lane, where the benefits of all three champions are not punished for not consistently being in a lane.

If Yuumi level 2 tags a Jungler, she can literally roam with them and the absence in bot lane won't even be felt, and she'll level on par with where she would be in support, while putting ganked lanes so far behind they cannot recover.

She doesn't have to stay with them when they farm jungle. But on champs like Lee and Hec, who continually gank, she can perma tag their ganks.
