Ranked game should only allow you to play champs that you have Mastery 4+ with

I see too often "Im learning this champ. First game"

SO DONT PLAY RANKED

There needs to be a skill gate with champs you can play for Ranked. Play normals until you have a good understanding before you play ranked.

Mastery level is pointless. It's only good for showing off the time you have spent on a certain champion. It doesn't say anything about your skill. So nah, such change would be pointless.

So if I have mastery level 1 on a champ (never played that champ) I have chances to beat somebody that uses the same champion, but has level 7 on it. Got it.

Yes, if you're good in LoL and the other guy didn't play his champion for about a year. Or maybe you're a smurf and just bought the champion for your new account. Mastery level doesn't tell you anything about such situations. All it says is "this guy played the champion for xyz games". It doesn't say when, it doesn't say how good it went etc. For all we care you could have lost all those games and it happened 2 years ago, because you would still earn the same mastery level. Using mastery level as a good and reliable indicator of your skills is simply stupid and it doesn't work. Not in its current form.

Am I supposed to get matched with instalockers (blind pick) if I want to play a new champion? I don't support playing a champ 1st time in ranked, but Riot screwed EUNE so I am not surprised if it happens, especially in flex queue.

on the NA server we still have normal draft, which I am assuming he thinks every one else has across the globe =C

You win some. You lose some. Trying to arbitrarily remove factors that MAY or may not cause a loss is not going to help you as much as just learning to play with all sorts of issues and making your team comp work. First game on a 'brain dead' champion is probably fine especially if it has 0 skill floor.

To be completely honest, .. As much as I know that Riot probably wont do this. ... It's not a teeeeeerrrrrible idea ....

While the others are correct in saying that Mastery up to level 6 and 7 only mean that a player has played a champion a lot, it is reasonable to say that they should at least have a decent to good understanding of the champion by the time they reach level 4.

Beyond this point, the only remaining factors are your personal skill with the champion, match ups, micro and macro gameplay, which is really what Ranked matches SHOULD be evaluating.
