The last time Rengar was patched his upfront damage was shifted to his Q's AD steroid. He now needs a couple seconds to take you out. You should be able to hit him with a stun/slow and get out of his range if your teammates are close enough to you.
If he goes MIA during a stand-off, or his teammates start getting aggressive for no reason while he's MIA, or you're alone and he's heading in your direction, someone's getting jumped on. Keep an eye out for the ! (you get about a second of ! before he jumps), predict his target, and nail him when he jumps out. The warning + predicting his target lets you pre-aim the skillshots/be ready to hit him as soon as he comes out.
Additionally, avoid wandering after the midgame, stay in groups, and don't get separated in enemy territory. Watch out if you're split-pushing in a lane and his location isn't known, or if you're in a side lane and the jungle next to you is unwarded. You're his main priority and you should act as such.
If you can't see him, assume he's coming for you.
