This goes for most 450 champions, but especially Ashe and Garen, who are now literally free for new accounts and are otherwise probably owned by most everybody.
To a lesser extent, Tristana and Alistar too, since they're free from social media.
Brand is now free for new accounts too, but I imagine plenty of people who were already past level 4 at the time won't have him, so he gets a pass.

Perhaps Nunu, for jungling? He's also a 450 champ.
SpecterVonBaren4 votesThe reason I went with WW and not Nunu is that Nunu's micro game may be simple but his macro game can be quite interesting when played by dedicated players. I think WW just fits better with what a lot of new players would want to do with a jungler, which is gank lanes and fight people, as apposed to Nunu who is more focused on getting early objectives and being an enabler of his allies.
I suppose Amumu would be a better choice though, since he's not mechanically difficult but also is more of a ganker than Nunu.

They gave out a free Starter Pack in January 2016 if you linked your account to Amazon. This got whoever took advantage of the offer all the Champions you mentioned minus Soraka.

Ashe has been free for new accounts since they added the hextech loot system, when they changed the early leveling reward to a chest that unlocks Ashe and a skin IIRC.
As of this preseason, you literally just receive Ashe for free upon hitting level 2.
At this point, it's borderline impossible to NOT have Ashe unless you're an older account that just didn't buy her at any point for some reason.

b) Actually it does. Part of the point of the free rotation is to let you try new things out. If one of those slots is being wasted on something that everybody already has... it's being wasted.
Edit: Realistically, the observation might be better said as "everybody has this champion so there is no need to put it on the free rotation, because it is already owned by everybody and thus they already all have access to an easy to play champion and should instead be given access to more variety so that players at low levels aren't perpetually playing against a team that has Ashe-Brand-Garen on both sides in 100% of games"

hell if it's still sold you could just go to some gaming store or someplace where they sell game related things and get a beginners pack... card thing that gives you about 10~15? old champions. People should have certain champions. They don't. Players at low levels should not care about "ohh variety of champions!" they do not give a damn about it. They are too preoccupied with learning how to play the game. Unless they are geniuses that learnt everything about the game in no time at all

No they're not, nor should they. The reason (in my eyes) is to open up free champion picks for players who don't yet have all the champions to let them choose their favorite type. There are different champion types on free rotation each time to let the player decide their favorite role. I can't explain it well but basically: there should be some AP champions, some AD champions, and each of them go a different lane, so new players can ultimately find out the most optimal champion for them.

It has nothing to do with offering low-skill champs for new players. The purpose is to showcase champions that people don't have so they can see if they want to buy them.

Following Riot/League on Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter gets you skins for Tristana, Alistar, and Garen (and you get the champs too if you don't have them). I forget which ones are from where exactly.
It's easier to just send a support ticket asking for them to be added to your account, though. I'm not sure why Riot doesn't just make a permanent-use redemption code for them, would be a lot easier.
