If people like Shield Battery, would it be possible to turn it into a Resolve rune?

When out of combat for at least 5 seconds, slowly generate a shield up to 50-340 (based on Level, reduced by 40% for ranged champions).

Immobilizing an enemy champion regenerates 25% of the shield instantly (this effect has a short cooldown).

Maybe put this in the middle row of the tree, and combine Iron Skin and Mirror Shell into a single rune that grants you whichever of the two you currently have the greater bonus resistance of (so if you have more bonus Armor than MR, it grants Iron Skin's effect, and vice versa, possibly with a ratio that slightly favors MR due to bonus MR normally being lower than bonus Armor on items).

I just thought of the middle row first because Iron Skin and Mirror Shell being separate runes strikes me as really stupid when the whole "adaptive" concept exists, considering the two are LITERALLY the exact same rune but for different stats.

Also, I doubt it'd see much use on the top row of the tree because of Font of Life existing.

Na, it and Font serve very different purposes. Font is conditional sustain for team, Shield Battery is selfish poke resist without condition.

I'm pretty sure Iron Skin and Mirror Shell are meant to be useful before the first recall, to get some resistances in a difficult matchup. They wouldn't perform well if they were adaptive. I like the idea of a regenerating shield, tho.

Actually assuming it worked off bonus and not base and defaulted to armour a replacement to them would actually be very efficient. This is because the majority of champs including most mages will deal at least as much physical damage as magic in very early stages of the game.

This rune wouldn't go on the top row of the tree even if Demolish was removed, just FYI.

The top row of the Resolve tree is "Strength", followed by "Resistance" and then "Vitality".

Shield Battery would fit under one of the latter two.

I was not happy to hear about the removal of shield battery in the game. The active is also really nice. I do not care for the changes to the support items. I think it has more to do with removing support items that can be abused by other roles then it does giving supports vision without buying a sightstone.

With that said, I would prefer shield batter to be added to a supportive type item in the game and not as a rune. For those who know how to use the active it is really strong in skirmishes. As a rune it can still be abused by other non-tank roles. I think it should require an opportunity cost in game so it is available to front line champs. I don't even mind it being available to jg and top, but having a regenerating shield on a carry is an incredible amount of sustain. It is essentially a free HP / regen.

Edit: I do like that members of the community are discussing this and I hope it encourages Riot to reconsider and keep the passive and active of Shield Battery in game.

I would like to see Face of the Mountain return as a standalone item that's got lower stats on it, or either something simple like just HP, etc. A simple item that just grants the Shield Battery and the dual shielding would make me happy.

I keep thinking it could be an item that has Aegis of the legion and crystal bracer. Weak overall stats as a completed item but the passive and active would been very versatile. Remember if the shield pops after 4 seconds it creates a slow as well. The Active is actually pretty strong if used right.

Riot stated somewhere that the active for this item doesn't have a very high use rate. I bet if you put it on non-support specific item. People would wake to this active.

I hate their logic too. They didn't remove Ohmwrecker or Banner of Command due to their incredibly low build rates, but they removed Face of the Mountain with Shield Battery for that logic. At least if they're going to make bogus claims, they should come up with something better, or just tell us the truth that it was because Shield Battery and Relic Shield were being abused by other laners.

Shield Battery's not the only reason ADCs are buying Relic Shield.

That said, just make the base shield weaker and put a % bonus HP ratio on it then. I can't number-crunch everything.

Now that you mention Guardian, I notice that it basically kinda does Shield Battery's job already.

The only issue is Aftershock is better on 90% of tank supports, so you basically have just Braum and Taric using Guardian.

Do have a question. If such a thing was done, then wouldn't that essentially be giving a sort of Rakan passive for free? Sure you'd have to actually be out of combat, unlike Rakan's passive, but have the slight shield gain from CC. It'd essentially give him extra free shielding while other champs would also get said passive. I mean, imagine Alistar or Leona with it. Folks already seem mad enough at tanky engage supports, not to mention said rune idea could just as easily be used for any position, particularly top and jungle I'd expect or a strong CC mid laner with dive potential ( Diana or Yasuo maybe?). Demolish isn't the best rune to have for the game's health as a whole, but this idea could also lead to other problems, potentially worse ones, as well while before it was just limited to supports(or ADCs) that bought the specific item.

I agree with this. it could most certainly be abused by other roles.

Edit; Personally I like demolish. If I play a tank I can actually do something to the turret. as a support, jg, or top tank. Without it, I might as well be considered a minion when hitting it. However if they ever buff the turrets, this rune will be OP.

It sounds nice but tanks don't need it. Top lane tanks are doing relatively fine, and Leo/Ali should be toned down a bit more before they get more toys.

I feel like this will simply make those who are naturally countered by lane bullies even stronger. I mean the boards can't handle Nasus in his current state, and if you can't poke/punish him either because of a shield I feel like we're moving in the wrong direction. Anyone who struggles early can take this (even junglers) and then cover up their early game weaknesses, like a pair of other champions are doing currently Vayne Twitch .
