PSA to midlaners

I as a jungler don't ask you to help me if you don't want to. I'll ask you once and if you say "no" for whatever reason, it's all ok, we're cool.

But I do want to ask you something else, if I am getting invaded by the enemy jungler along their mid laner constantly and you have a free lane, please, for the holy name of Ahri, at least have more farm than the enemy mid laner, and preferable, don't be the one to lose the 1st tower while enemy tower still have 5 plates, ok?

It's ok if you don't help, we all have moments where we just can't help help, it's guccy, no worries, but at least be useful. If the enemy mid laner is mostly out lane, when I press tab, I don't want to see him having more farm than you, I want to see his tower fall either first, or at least you having more tower plates than him, not him taking your tower as first tower to fall and his tower being at 5 plates.

It's ok if you don't want to help, I'm saying this so much because I want you to understand, it's ok, it's not the correct thing to do, but it's ok, we junglers can understand and are used to it, but what we want you to do is at least push that mid tower if you don't help us.

Ping more. As someone who finds myself tunneling my lane from time to time a good ping will bring me out of it to know what the hell is going on. I totally agree on the pushing though, if your enemy mid laner is roaming, getting a plate down is effective to the kill they helped get unless it's a solo kill.

I don't mean the players like you who don't see it, I can totally understand those, happened to me as well, but about the players who actually refuse.

Had a Diana couple games ago as my mid laner, I was Kindred. Made a dumb cheesy play and I died because both Orianna and the Teemo moved in to help Eve.

Later I got invaded by Ori and Eve, ask Diana for help, she said no, and well, that's how it went a lot. Ori, Eve and occasionally Teemo kept invading, I got far behind as I couldn't gank any where and was constantly invaded, Diana kept flaming me, telling me how she's much better, all the yada yada, while Orianna even by roaming so much, still had more farm than Diana and took the 1st tower, while Diana didn't even took 1 tower plate.

We won the game thanks to Sion and Lucian and a few good Lamb's Respites from me, but that's beside the point.

Like most things, its situational. Sometimes, the reason that mid is invading with the jungler is because they have higher wave clear. Sometimes, that means I cant really help (1: I'm probably already behind, and 2: I'm shoved under turret and having to cs there) and have less cs.

As a midlane, know that I WANT to help you, the difficult part will always be trying to determine whether or not I CAN and whether or not it will be worth long run to do so.

Sometimes, (again, its situational and hard to determine) it's best to give up that camp and just ward/go somewhere else. I hate it when I ping that my laner roamed into river just to have my jungler engage 1v2 and then ping me like I didnt warn them.

We want to help you guys, jungle is still (imho) THE most important/impactful early game role. We wont always make the right decision, but most of the time when we make bad choices it's not out of spite or anything like that.

I think you missunderstood the topic.

It's exactly that, I can understand that you can't always help, or sometimes you don't want to, and it's ok, but if the enemy is not in lane for long periods of time, I'm expecting you to at least have more farm than him or at the very very least, take 1 tower plate.

I had a lot of games where this happened, I got invaded or the enemy mid laner roamed a lot while my mid laner still has less farm than the enemy and didn't even took 1 tower plate. Last game is such an example, our Diana at 15 mins is 0-0-0 with 60 cs and 0 tower plates taken, while Orianna that repeatedly kept invading me with her jungler had close to 100 cs and 2 plates takens. Or a Malz from a good while ago, whenever Kat would leave the lane to gank, and gosh she roamed a lot, he would back, like just that, he would back to base. He ended up having 10 cs less than Kat who was most of the time away from the lane and didn't even take 1 tower plate.

That's what I'm trying to say, it's ok if you don't help, at least try to punish the enemy laner.

No worries, and no, I didnt misunderstand, I specifically addressed the situation:

Sometimes the reason I'm down in cs and my lane opponent is always gone is because they have vastly superior wave clear. They get most if not all of their wave, and i have to fight tower and minion aggro. Not only that, but they will be back in lane before i can push to the tower.

This is pretty common in midlane specifically. It's a lot easier to punish top lane for tp'ing, for example, than it is to punish mid la e roaming unless they are gone for a VERY long time, which, again, is pretty rare.

I know, and in situations like those, it's ok, it can be understandable, but what the Malz or Diana did is not. The Malz backing every time Kat left lane and Diana just wasn't pushing, she would have creeps but not use a single spell, just try to last hit with AA even when I asked her to push since Ori is away from lane so much, I simply got told that "I'm too dumb and a feeder to understand her strategy", if it wasn't for Lucian and Sion, we would've lost.

I play both mid and jg, and my most played champs should showcase it :p Ahri, Eve and Taliyah (still trying to relearn Taliyah jungle, she's fun but a bit too weak in low elos if the enemy tries at all to invade or my team just derps out hard)

Yeah, that's just bad... how does Malz not push? XD

I play a lot of Yasuo, and often get paired against Ahri, who will insta-shove and roam (if they are smart). And contrary to popular belief, Yas wave clear is not that great early game.

Hoes does Malz not push? By backing every time the enemy left lane, don't ask me why, I asked him and all I got was "muted".

I know Yas isn't the best waveclearer early but if left unattended, he can make short work of a wave much better than other champs.

Since you lost the game having an Ahri on your team that had low farm Here is a thing Despite having a good wave clear Ahri struggles in farming it's hard to farm with her in early I find even the best Ahri players in high Elo KR get the same issues

IP Masquerena1 votes

I'm sorry, what Ahri?

Didn't had an Ahri on my team for quite a long time now, sorry.

I know Ahri isn't the easiest to farm with on occasions, she's my 2nd most played champion (technically 1st, but since Riot doesn't reset master on reworked champs, Akali is still the top, but I only got like 40k on the new one). My mid laner in the game that made me want to make this thread was a Diana, tho she's not the first to do this type of thing, I've had Malzahars, Zeds, Ekkos and a friggin Yasuo all be similar, for some reason, the enemy wasn't in lane, yet they were behind in farm and tower plates. The Malzahar was the most spectacular one, when Katarina would roam, he would go base, every single time, even if he just got to lane.

  1. Gameplay is not your vent space. Please do it elsewhere.

  2. If the midlaner is down in cs, it's not because he's incapable of csing in a 1v0 scenario? Obviously they got destroyed in lane and that enabled their midlaner to roam, and the guy is just trying to play catch up. Suboptimal strategy? Sure. But people tend to do that when they got absolutely destroyed in lane.

IP Masquerena1 votes

So wait, my 0-0-0 Diana at 15 mins was "destroyed in a lane where the enemy was mostly roaming than bothering with her?".

I play both mid and jg, I know how it feels on both sides, but when he's 0-0-0, the enemy is roaming a lot, you don't say "he got destroyed".

I'm not talking about lanes where you do get fucked on, as I both did that to others and got it done to me, but about lanes where the lane is "even", yet when the enemy leaves, you do nothing to punish it.
