Stop saying "just reduce damage" is the solution to everything.

All mobas thrive on variety. If you can't provide that, the game dies. Of course, Riot thinks variety is the need to introduce some ridiculous new gimmick with every patch to keep the game "fresh," totally oblivious to the fact that their 134 character roster is plenty capable of doing that for them on its own, without them releasing some half assed attempt to reinvent the wheel and risk breaking the game each time. The state of runes reforged at the moment means only a select group of 30 some odd characters can benefit from it to any meaningful degree. Each rune does something SO SPECIFIC, it's obviously going to benefit certain characters far more than others.

Now the disparity between a tier 1 character and a tier 2 is so massive that the tier 2 character has to tremendously outplay the tier 1 player as to be hilariously unfair. Now consider the characters in tier 4 and 5 (or even tier 3, frankly) and ask why anyone in their right mind would want to play it.

All of the game's problems stem from Runes Reforged. In case you forgot what happened in November, I'll remind you:

Runes Reforged is released. Average game's duration shrinks to 20-25 minutes at the exact same time.

Constantly squawking "REDUCE DAMAGE, REDUCE DAMAGE," doesn't solve the underlying problem, it's a bandaid fix at best. It DOES NOT account for the disparity of champions' and their viability in relation to each other.

I have a solution Just reduce damage

They ve dug a hole and now are unable ( or unwilling ) to dig themselves out of it and instead only make it worse with inexplicably horrid changes

Yeah you're right, though I think most of those posts are knee jerk reactions to getting blown out in their last game. Reducing damage could work for some champions, sure. But you're right that too balance this game it'll take more.

It's not a solution but it's a start

No, it actually is the solution. Name one thing that will be negatively affected by damage being nerfed. And by negatively affected, i dont mean nerfed, i mean it affects the game itself in a bad way.

They could take every single keystone and half the power.

For example.

Electrocute 25-120 depending on level.

Aery 10-30 depending on level.

Comet 15-50 depending on level.

Conqueror 5-18 AD 10% true damage converted.

Same nerfs would follow for grasp, aftershock,PTA,lethal tempo ect.

Would be a good start. This would for sure make the game healthier there is no denying it.

The only down side? Longer games.

What do you mean by 30 champions benefit from the runes and that's the problem? That makes no sense.. Literally every single champion is insanely ridiculous right now, regardless of the rune. I challenge you to name a single champion that with a small advantage couldn't completely take over a game and bully anyone else. The new runes are just stronger versions of the old runes so of course they are a problem, but the overall problem is the damage itself. If they massively nerved every single rune, that would lower everyones damage, which would be working towards the actual "underlying problem" which is damage in general. Runes would be an overlaying issue, not an underlying one.

You forget some of us come from a time where games lasted 45-60 minutes. Some of us are trying to get back to that 35-45 minute range.

Just reducing damage, while being a band aid fix, would get us there.

I don't give a shit if assassins can't 100-0 someone.

Atleast tanks, mages, supports, and adc's would have a place in this game. I would gladly choose 4 classes over 1.

I remember one of my most enjoyed games this season

happened near the beginning

but I was playing sion against an ornn.

What was funny, was we were both using a rune that no longer exists.

That rune was called "celestial body". It gave us both +100 max health (in addition to the +145hp that resolve gave), but we would do 10% less damage to champions for the first 10 minutes. We fought constantly and it was somewhat back and forth. At no point did I ever fall behind hard enough that I couldn't come back, and the same was true for him. But what was great about that match was there came a point (like 40 minutes) when we were both spear heading each of our teams with 5k hp each and roughly 400 armour.

I miss that rune.

Found it weird that people downvoted the post about you wanting old masteries back

The time of day you make posts matters to some degree. Most of the people around at night in NA just downvote because they can. It's night time right now and this post is suddenly starting to get downvotes. Of course, the last post was my fault for making it so late at night, I should've made it earlier in the day to avoid all the downvoters who don't actually care.

This is the problem right here and I only have to point to the "Half assed attempt" to reinvent the jungle/scuttle which started the major downfall of breaking the game.

squawk squawk reduce damage

Personally, I take issue when the proposed means of reducing damage is some blanket, percentage nerf across the board. For sure, if everything dealt 10% less damage, that could be a start, but as mentioned in the OP, that would also not solve all of the problems with the game as it currently exists. To some extent it may also be counterproductive, as some other classes might end up being too strong without targeted nerfs of their own. The solution to League's problems right now isn't as simple as some blanket stat change, and we should stop pretending like there's an obvious, easy solution to a problem this vast and complex, because there isn't. There are certainly directions to take, and particular pain points that could be addressed more directly than others, though, and that's the kind of stuff it might be more productive to discuss.

You want to fix things?

Start by reverting every tower Nerf since S3

Runes reforged isnt even an issue, and its a far better system than runes and masteries ever were capable of being.

Damage isnt even up over previous seasons either.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Not runes reforged because ive been having these same problems from season 4 when they rebalanced champion base stats and mana and hp5 some of them were fixed in early season 5 but were broken again later in that same season. Why not ask for a reduction in damage when riot DID increase it base damage creep on mages cooldown lower on mages and adcs scaling damage creep on mages adcs and assassins.
