Runeglaive Ezreal doesn't work anymore.
Stop picking smite Ezreal mid and forcing me to dodge because you can't be bothered to read patch notes. Literally 3 times in the last 3 days I've had to do this.

you have no idea how many times ive had people ban ezreal or take ez mid with smite. as a side note, it also annoys me to no end when people are like "dude, you cant go ap ez, runeglaive doesn't work on him anymore". well,
I sure wish
there was another item
that works in a similar way
on ap ezreal

similar, not the same... the reason runeglaive pushed ez into mid was how soon you could get it. which is still the case. ez mid isnt impossible with runeglaive, it is still possible. it just isnt as easy.
Really? Because I assumed that building an actual core item on AP Ezreal would be quicker than a needless jungle enchantment that he'll never use except for waveclear or true damage on auto attacks.
I guess I'm just old fashioned.
he can use the slow enchant as well... it has its uses and with the incredible scaling he has it is a small tradeoff
And if I wanted a slow on Ezreal, I'd build Iceborn Gauntlet or Ryali's. But like I said, I guess I'm just old fashioned.
One of the tradeoffs of Ap Ez is his low clearwave without his ult. The jungler items reduced it significally since you could just smite the whole lane every 45 sec or so.
let's not forget that once you got ruinglaive, his wave clear problems were over. Runeglaive is actually weaker on ez than lichbane, but it lets him farm up without losing map pressure due to his opponent roaming on him all the time.
It really doesn't matter if linchbane is better or not, an EZ that wasn't bullied on lane will hit hard no matter what late game, ruinglaive just made his early game much easier.
Hence it's nerf.
Also remember he used to regenerate 8% of his maximum mana every proc, erasing most of his short comings

Every proc on monsters. People always seem to forget that part.

ikr he wasnt regeranting 8% mana per proc in lane lol. that part hasnt changed at all. its honestly still good even if you only build it for the purple smite.

Not to mention that it's 8% missing mana, not max mana. That is an enormous difference.
He could just proc on the wraiths camp over the wall. Free mana
You pretty much had to be below 20% mana for it to give you back more mana that Q costs. It seriously wasn't that good.
ahh it is
The entire problem of AP ezreal was the lack of efficient waveclear. His ratios were and are still insane. If you ever tried playing AP Ezreal in the past, he didnt start abusing his damage until 3 items - a mana item, lich bane and deathcap. Runeglaive turns those 3 items into 2 - Runeglaive and a NLR item, and the purple smite gives pseudo-waveclear.
A lot of his problems are gone with the RG purchase, which is a cheap item to begin with. Even with the changes to runeglaive, AP Ez is very much viable, just not as easy as 'get one item and be fine'.
yeah i know it's not the same, but people are acting like ap ez mid cant work now because no runeglaive
i love Ez mid but i hated that runeglaive crap it takes so long to do anything with. I just build straight ap and it hits just as hard sure he has crap for wave clear but i used to main him as adc so im used to it. Still think he is much better in mid with or without runeglaive procs
It's surely not dodge-worthy like Gangplank is. With Trailblazer he still has some wavelcear.
Like, it's not was it was two patches ago, but AP Ezreal still pumps out massive damage in the late game.

If he wants to go normal AP Ezreal, fine. I don't think it's very good but I'm not gonna rage about it. But Runeglaive Ezreal is dead and there's absolutely no reason to do it that way anymore. Whenever I see someone lock in Ezreal with smite, it tells me that they don't pay attention and there's a very solid chance he will just rage quit or something when he discovers it doesn't work.
Maybe at your Elo, lol, at my Elo they just go through the game like they always would, never realizing that it no longer works since they never realized why it worked in the first place, they just watched the bjergerking do it in LCS and decided to copy.

Maybe at my Elo? I'm Diamond. You're silver. Do us all a favor and think before opening your mouth.
Edit: My apologies; I misread your post horrifically and got a message totally different than what you intended. Much sorry.
depends on how good of an ezreal player you are. AP ez is still pretty damn good. most of the people who sucked on him when he was broken (aka 90% of people) will probably still play him sparingly
But there is literally no reason to take smite on ez mid anymore. Want the sheen proc? Buy lich or tri force.
I haven't put the games in to see how it plays out for myself, but there are some reasons to take smite on him:
will still help your waveclear, if for no other reason than the smite is AoE.
is cheaper than
by 750g
gives 10% CDR at the cost of some damage. Getting off an extra Q, W or E could mean the difference between dying when caught out and getting a kill, and getting it so early is really tempting.
for more damage.Like I said, I haven't had time to try it, but I'm pretty sure there are people continuing to use it for these reasons. I'm sure there are people who didn't read the patch notes too, but I bet for a patch or two at least we'll see informed players trying to find out which AP Ezreal Sheen item they like best.
why can't he just use
it will give him an AOE slow plus mana and armor and still gives ap now it may not give him as much ap but it will still give him at least give him 10% cdr and more mana letting him spam spells even better then with the other two then he is free to get ignite for extra damage or heal for more survivability
Scaling is the big reason why AP Ezreal won't pick up Iceborn. At level 18, Iceborn gives you 126 bonus damage. For Runeglaive to tie it, you only need additional 34 AP between runes, masteries, and items. For Lich Bane to tie it, you need only 20 AP. It also is only 100g cheaper than Lich Bane, making it an even harder sell over its AP counterparts, both of which boost your other spell's damage by more than Iceborn.
Iceborn can be a great item, don't get me wrong, but the other two are better items for an AP build.
don't encourage
on
!!!!
i still have nightmares with blue ez :s
Runeglaive AoE doesnt drop on lane minons anymore.
That was never one of my points.
gives AoE, and will help with wave clear that way.
AoE on a 75 second fucking cooldown.
That is literally twice as long as Ezreal's ult is normally.
It was never about the waveclear Trailblazer gave. it was about the waveclear that Runeglaive gave.
Do you take me for an idiot? Of course, Runeglaive use to be picked for it's Sheen AoE and magic damage on Ezreal's Q, but that's no longer available. That's what started this whole thread, no need to re-iterate it. Your wave clear AP item is Luden's Echo, which to proc on minions you need to use either your E or your Ultimate.
Yes, Trailblazer is an AoE on a 75 second cooldown. The cannon minion waves, the most valuable waves and largest, are on a 90 second cooldown. You'll be building up spare charges in the event that you need it for objective control or to push back a larger wave that stacked up. If you're in a position where you need to defend your tower against a siege, having another tool (and potentially the two smites 15 seconds apart) would help you defend better than a heal or ignite.
So... no waveclear besides 75s cooldown smite until you amass at least 5250 gold for both Runeglaive and Ludens?
And you wonder why we take you for an idiot.
While it's the weakest point he made, it is still a point and worth considering. Being able to secure the cannon minion each time it spawns is actually a nice benefit, being able to half clear the wave while getting the cannon minion each time is just a bit of icing.

You can't E minions.
You're thinking W. You can E minions.
Are you trolling me?
No, I'm 100% serious. I've been playing AP Ezreal for about a year, and considering I made it work before Runeglaive I can certainly make it work after Runeglaive.
I've been thinking over the pros and cons of picking Lich Bane vs picking Runeglaive since the changes were put up on the PBE. I've only had one game on Runeglaive and one game with Lich Bane on this patch, but I'm honestly leaning towards Runeglaive.
My smite mid lane ezreal shit on a viktor earlier maybe u should stop copying lcs
My AD mordekaiser went Legendary yesterday. Doesn't prove anything. "It doesn't work" means that it's a bad strategy, one that'll make you lose more often than winning. It doesn't mean it's impossible to win a game with it or get fed with it.
The runeglaive Ez mid build currently has 40% winrate in plat+.
The real question is why do plat players still build him runeglaive?
The real question is why do plat players still build him runeglaive?
Many people are in agreement that Plat is just a second Bronze.
I have a friend who made plat earlier this season who can attest to that.
lot of people boosted to plat, so a good portion of plat players are bronze/silver
Anyone playing ranked in plat who is silver/bronze will drop QUICKLY.
to plat V, which is largely agreed on as being worse than bronze.
Also, with how many people were carried, it's still 50/50 that a bronze in plat will win a game.
You can drop divisions as of season 5. They will drop to bronze.

I'm sorry, I'm done with you, you are definitely retarded.
bad viktor...
Edit: you're only gold 5, I can win in low plat with adc veigar haha.
I seriously doubt that but I would like to see you trying.
