Is Guardian Angel necessary anymore?

The reason I ask is because item 3026 was originally meant/best built as a counter to assassins. Now that in general (there are exceptions of course) there is more counterplay to assassins, there are other options to counter them than "get a second life."

I'm not sure how healthy it is for the game that item 3026 is being built on nearly every champion, regardless if they're ADC, jg, mid, or top. I'm even seeing it on supports as a final item. Is it really necessary for everyone to get a second life?

Well, ask yourself how much counterplay do you have against Khazix, LeBlanc or Rengar jumping on you. Because they will jump you the second you split for a brief moment, just to clear out wave in side lane or go grab a buff. Yes, GA is still viable thing.

GA does not just counter assassins. It counters ALL burst champion including assassins. Changes targeting priorities in fights. Counters resetting champions. Provides one of two options for hybrid defensive stats. Allows you to make riskier plays. Lets high risk/reward champions hard dive without an unlucky crit or stray CC meaning they contribute nothing to the fight. It stalls, buying time and wasting enemy time, allies could arrive or respawn, fighting might occur.

Is GA no longer relevant? Ask yourself the same of item 3157 and item 3102 and item 3139. They all exist for the same reason to supplement or boost somebody's ability to escape situations their base kit either cannot, or will not in a specific scenario.
