Why does Match makng suck so bad for first like 3-4 months?

It's literally every ranked season. Now... I get it.... people's mmr is soft reset. But... when you think about it why does it fuck shit up so badly? It just the inflated lp gains? I know this season was worse than others for that but is it really just the inflated lp gains that mess it up so badly?

One time in the last like 4 years have I had a decent start to season. Call it tilt, call it bad luck, call it whatever. But... it really annoys me that luck seems to be suck a huge factor at start of season. Every year I get teammates even after they have played 100s of games and wonder how we are the same elo. Same for enemy team. Then you look at prior ranks are all over the place, which seems weird since people don't generally drop a lot in skill unless they take a long break.

It's probably just me switching up roles too much and giving low fs at start of the season but I really been trying to figure out why ranked seems so shitty early in season every year compared to later. And if it's literally just too much change in mmr between placements & inflated lp gains... can you guys just stop doing that shit in the future? I would rather take slightly longer to rank up playing evenly matched games than play these god awful matched games for months.

Like.... high elo players know they starting in what plat 1? or slightly higher this season. Granted their mmr is different, which is really all that matters. But why can't other ranks be like that then? Like... if I was gold 4 last season why can I be placed like silver 2-4 instead of us all just being 1 or 2 divs based on mmr. Placement games are so boring and so much is based on luck. And then it just ultimately fucks match making anyways.

It's probably just mmr resets I suppose. People with low mmr get a mmr boost while those who had higher than average mmr go back down? Or does it ultimately just not matter?

Idk.... it's just so annoying. Maybe its just people coming back from not playing forever verse people try harding and maining op champs. But later in the season you would think it still be similar? Idk.... just sucks lol. I never really care about ranked until like may-june since then I feel like games actually start getting some consistency so you know what the expect from certain mmr groups.

Idk man I catch these horrible teammates that don't even belong to div they are in or if the divisions did change than it placed me pretty low

  • this last game it literally felt like playing alone against everyone in enemy team like these guys don't even try (or they just so bad that it looks like it)
  • in the opposite side of how bad are they doing and that they literally all say stuff like they don't wanna play and surrender however 4 of us pressed no (Including me I always press no when I feel like the game is winnable - that game was winnable if they at least tryed, guess what they didn't...)

Yea. Not going to say match making every great but it seems like later in the season most of my games generally are closer and I don't feel the need to like 1v9 as much... or at the very least the games aren't insanely hard snowball stomps a majority of the time. But feel like this season a very high percent of my games have been stomps one way or the other. And... it just doesn't feel that great. Like winning super hard where everyone our team fed is cool but feels kind of boring especially when a lot of your wins that way. And then it feels terrible where it feels like you hardly had a chance because enemy team just stomps your team so hard.

I also don't like it because I generally actually try to play around my teammates and with them. But with match making so wake I never really know wtf my teammates thinking so it's really hard to be on the same page. Whereas later in the season I feel like I can have a better understanding of what people are thinking based on my rank, at least more consistently.

I started playing League from s7 and out of every seasons I played after s7 is still best imo :/

yea all the smurfs don't help that's for sure. But bigger problem to me is it seems game just matches a bunch of random numbers together so although the ranks "look even" its more like you have a say Gold 3 mid verse silver 3 mid, then like a gold 4 jungle verse a silver 3 jungle. Back and forth back and forth and seems like it just comes down to who gets the best matchup and can stomp hard and help their team. Whereas later in the season it will be like gold 3 verse gold 3-5 (old system) pretty much all the way down the line unless a player has a good win streak and their mmr higher than average but it still works since they more around that skill level.

But like right now I could play a game and my mid could have been gold 3 mid last season but currently silver 1 and is playing someone who has been silver 3 for like 2 years and is still only silver 2-3. So like.... yea.. based on the mmr it looks even but the reality is ... the mid laner who has more experienced and overall is actually better because their actual elo is higher has the advantage.
