What the game actually lacks to not get boring

one word '' Customisation '' or if you prefer personnalisation.

What do i mean by that ? in the past we were allowed to choose a variety of runes masteries and stats.

The actual rune system doesn't allow us to add effects like the quintessences.

In the past you could play many playstyles that werent considerent trollss like full lifesteal nasus or olaf. You could do full attack speed yi, vayne etc... You coud extend some stats.

Nowadays we have no choices and we are all playing the same way... if you try other things it won't work so well because of the lack of customisation.

The actual state of the game isn't in a good shape of balance so why even care if personnalisation is a mess to balance ?

i'd rather have fun while trying funny builds than being bored always playing meta things in an unbalanced game.

The old system was way more have fun friendly in a way you could do what you want because you had many ways to play the same champion.

remember kogmaw ap ? Sion ap ? Malphite AD etc...

riot is killing diversity and the actual game isn't more balanced...

I'm really not sure what you're talking about. There's probably more customization now than there was before. There's also basically always been a meta way to build a champion. The best rune page, itemization, build order, etc.

I mean in the past we could chose raw stats like with the old rune system.

You can still choose raw stats.

Well there's certainly less options than there was, what that means for customization is what you all can discuss. Yes, there was always "it" builds but that's not what he is talking about.

He feels that the game lacks customization, things to play around with because that's what he would have fun with in the game's current state. And that's an understandable feeling for him to have considering the amount of things you cannot choose. You can't choose full attack speed. You can't choose which CDR you get. You can't even choose whether you get AD or AP from runes because Riot decided to "streamline" the system.

You can't choose lifesteal.

Ravenous Hunter: Heal for a percentage of the damage dealt by your abilities.

Taste of Blood: Heal when you damage an enemy champion.

Legend: Bloodline: Gain 0.8% life steal for every Legend stack

You can't choose which CDR you get.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but there are a number of CDR options, both flat and scaling.

You can't even choose whether you get AD or AP from runes because Riot decided to "streamline" the system.

Want AD? build AD. Want AP? Build AP. Is there ever a time you would want a small amount of AP while you were building AD, or vice versa?

You still have every bit of customization as you had before, it's just displayed differently.

No. No. I even changed it to "full attack speed" because I feared you would misunderstand the issue like this. I did not write "There is no healing or CDR in the Runes" which is what your response is relevant to. I wrote about the lack of Choices that are in this system. A system that gets worse the more I think about it, having now been caused to do so.

There is not an array of effects and stats for a player to mix and match from. That is lacking ability for the player to make decisions, that further means there is no ability for the player weigh things as they like and no ability to invest everything in to making lopsided choices even if only for their own amusement. The system does not allow a player to put his stat points where he desires; he is not allowed draw points from categories to put them all into Charisma, to draw a comparison.

"You can still choose raw stats." The choices were sacrificed for the sake of streamlining the system; you have checkboxes of decisions that have been made for you. You do not get the choice of how much health you get; you can only get scaling and only that amount. You cannot choose your CDR; you cannot choose the kind or the amount. You cannot make the choice to focus on attack speed and take more of it instead of other stats.

Instead of improving on the previous system, giving players more choices and better ones, they made a flow chart. Flow chart with less than it appears because of false choices that are on it. Precision, you're in it and at the bottom you click based on champions. You're going to take percent damage increase, no choice involved. There is instead less customization because that was the point.

"Want AD? build AD. Want AP? Build AP." You don't get a choice in what you get from your runes. The stats change from your items regardless of what you want. Taric is a great example. Getting AD or AP should be the simplest thing in the game but players had petition Riot to get them to patch in what they wanted, they had to go the company and persuade them to change the game to make it happen. Just for a few simple stat points. That is the level to which Riot has denied choice from its players.

You don't have nearly as many options in pre-game right now. e.g. before you could dump defense for inefficient attack speed for example. Now you can't. "option" to get 10% speed for yi or something else (first general rune) is not really an option, obviously AS is better on him. The key to interesting decisions in old runes was inefficiency, e.g. it's a no brainer that 10% AS is better than, say, 10-15 armor on yi. But if you ask 4% AS vs. 9 armor like old runes did, here you have real differences of opinion thus real options. Or for, say, CDR, you could get flat or scaling, or get one of a dozen or so other stats instead. It's that depth of options that I miss.

Now for most choices the best one is no brainer -- sure there are several real decisions in your rune tree, but generally there are just a few reasonable options.
