For pre season changes there is a big change that is gonna make many of us really mad

MOuHahaHAhahaaaa··102 votes·20,351 views

I don't think that minions spawning at 0:35 is a good idea. Each week i see many players that are really slow and many players that take a lot of time. And that happens sometimes even at high elo. Considering the fact that if you don't go in lane at the same time of your opponent you have a big disaventage... Getting a lane disaventage is handicaping a whole team. Each week i see a lot of players taking way more time than average just to buy objects or even to see that they need to help the jungler....

i See things becoming ugly very fast.

Oh and yes no more invades at lvl 1 :( ? Such a fun part of the game being removed...

Oh and yes don't forget that LoL isn't only about ranked games... Most of us play draft and normal games to chill after some stressfull ranked games. In those games people aren't this serious so you can't count on them to be everytime rdy at 00:35 even if they should...

Why 35 seconds? Any context? Is it to stop level 1 invades? ... aka part of the fun.

It's to reduce the amount of idle time at the start of the game.

Idle? Invading/protecting camps/early warding is idle?

Eleshakai20 votes

You still have plenty of time for invading or early warding.

You just actually take a real risk when invading... because if you get nothing, your jungler's now behind. Whereas before, invades were very low-risk.

You'd walk through the enemy jungle, and if nothing happens still make it back in plenty of time to set up to leash. Now, if you do that, you have to hope something comes of it because if not you're either sacrificing lane experience or a leash.

But really, In MOST games there's a good 15-20 seconds of just standing watching river waiting. They're cutting that down.

The point is to actually leash the enemy's buff and take that. Invading is not meant to be for kills. It is meant to force enemy jungler to take a suboptimal route. For example, force a kayn away from his aoe camps and into his blue. Or force a jg camile to lose a lot of time if she REAAALy wants to do gromp. Are they at least making camps spawn earlier too? Junglers are gonna be fked from this change because they are the only ones who don't get faster exp when everyone else does.

Eleshakai1 votes

Depends on how it goes, honestly. Sticking around in the enemy jungle can be super dangerous. But I am pretty sure they're simply cutting x seconds off the start of the game on all facets. So camps spawn earlier, minions spawn earlier, I get to force my enemy lane's ADC out of lane sooner. (;))

I'd be cool if jg camps spawned at 1 minute or maybe 1:10. Seems fair if minions spawn 25 sec faster. All i mean is that Jungle shouldn't lose their leashes and all invade chances because Rito wants faster games so 1 more game fits in the 12 year olds "computer time". Also shaco needs a huge buff on W CD

Eleshakai1 votes

Shaco could also be removed from the game. I wouldn't mind if that was the case......

just sayin'... it'd be okay if that happened.

I'd be cool to sacrifice ma boi Shaco if some champs went with it Leblanc Graves Irelia Camille Ahri Xayah / Rakan (just one of the 2 needs to go or give us unique interractions on other champs too wTF is this riot? Trying to appeal to couples ffs?)

Eleshakai1 votes

Sorry... most of those champs are eye-candy, and eye-candy doesn't get deleted, it just gets more and more appealing skins.

Are you implying Shaco is not eye-candy?

Eleshakai1 votes

I am not implying it, I am outright saying it. Shaco is basically Zorn and Thorn from FF9. And if anyone deserves death... it's Zorn and Thorn.

3TWarrior2 votes

weren't zorn and thorn magical assassins who specialized in teamwork, always used monsters instead of rarely fighting themselves, like every dirty trick in the book and had some secret connection to the main antagonist of the story?

shaco is chaos and kills because it amuses him. He uses magical traps, invisibility and daggers compared to their specialization in magic

they also only tend to kill because they're evil and they can kill. They're chaotic evil

i'm not up to date enough on any lore changes, but i'd say shaco is more chaotic neutral because nothing matters but the thrill of the kill to him whereas traditional evil has some sort of belief or hierarchy it adheres to

Eleshakai1 votes

Honestly, we know very little about Zorn and Thorn except that they're creepy little construct-looking clowns who everyone hates(the game doesn't go into much detail). Which to me describes Shaco to a T ;)

3TWarrior1 votes

think it went a lot deeper than that. not very deep as they were only minor characters

if anything though, they made all of the moments seem even better as you went up against true evils

I was very conflicted by this change up until reading this. The concept of invades is pretty cool and cutting out the starting time would mean nerfing it.

But they are only fun and fair for both sides when everyone is actually playing the game at that point.

Yet feels so shitty and unfair when a successful invade happens while part of your team is afk at the fountain picking their nose or something.

Which is the main reason blizcrank is one of my top bans because of how great he can be in those situations.

So making what is essentially a free lead with low risk when attempting have more risk is does seem like the right choice.

I agree with the change.

ValyrianBlade22 votes

It's a big improvement .

There's an even bigger disadvantage to dying to an invade. Players should be there and going right at game start, EVERY game.

Sitting at fountain because you're still in the washroom from the loading screen isn't acceptable. Go before you queue.

Minions spawning earlier will help prevent silly free kills before minions spawn. It's always annoying how the player that's in the right position and is prepared at the start of the game is the one to die/lose flash because one or more of his allies couldn't be bothered. Especially when your team should win the level 1 skirmish if people were there.

yes i agree however you will always encounter a lot of players like that and you can't do nothing against it because there are milions of players doing this even some challengers do lol... If we can't do anything against it this change will just make things worse.

I think it will make things better, not worse.

Why do so many players do this? Because they think it's acceptable. They blame the guy who dies to the invade, not themselves for not being active early enough to have vision on all the entrances. They watch streamers who go to the washroom during the loading screen (this is probably the biggest reason). or They just don't think.

If we look at a case where minions spawn at 35 seconds: Players will hopefully be ready for the game start, leading to invades not happening as a default (honestly, I ping for an invade at the start of every single game and if the whole team is there we go through with it and generally get at least a flash if the enemy team isn't ready. That's pretty sad - you shouldn't be able to invade with any random team, you should need some good level 1 champions). Streamers won't go to the washroom during loading screen anymore (they don't care about the early invade, but would care about the xp disadvantage in lane) - which should lead to their followers not doing it after a while. Players will think about it after they fall behind in xp a few times.

Not to mention, cutting down downtime is good. I wish they'd cut down the champion select time a lot more though. The time to declare your champion should be like 5-10 seconds (you're either going in with the intention of playing something or you're not...) and the time to ban a champion should be like 15-20 seconds (if you're in solo queue you're probably not banning for the comp [especially when 70% of players don't even declare], so most people are probably banning the same champion every game / based on the role they're playing). I'd like to see the time for early picks to come down a bit too (most champions aren't picked yet so you shouldn't need to think too much about comp...) but to be fair, some people try to swap pick order and stuff so they do need time for that...

It's pretty sad that a lot of games can be 20-25min, but you spend 1-2min in queue, 5-8 min in champion select, then another 1-5min in the loading screen, then 2min before the regular game starts (if an ally is sitting at the fountain you can just get some vision and hope you don't get caught at level 1...)... you can see 25-35% of your total time on league of legends actually be spent NOT playing!

I'd much rather see a typical game take about 30min, but have it take only 5-10min in total to get into a game. And that extra time is better spent on queue (where you can do something else, AND it gives the matchmaking algorithm more time to find a better game) than it is on champion select and pre-spawn.

are you playing on the lowest specs possible? And have the "Enable low spec mode" ticked? League has never been too straining on a pc. When was the last time you formated?

Or people could stop playing on potatoes so i don't have to spend 10 minutes in the loading screen?

Net cafe? New pc? Second hand pc? Upgrade your pc? a laptop that can play league without lags should cost you less than 200 dollars.

Don't play then man jesus. You are ruining the game for your team every game. Riot needs to add a loading/ping/fps test or whatever before they allow people to play PVP.

MasterDClone3 votes

why the game is fun even on single digit fps, how am i ruining the game for anyone right now, my ranked winrate is positive, i climbed for s5 to g2 this season barely playing. League is like the only game i can play with my shitty fps, i have mastererd playing at low frames

most small towns do not have a net-cafe. a new pc can set you back several hundred or even thousand dollars if it's intended for gaming. It's next to impossible to upgrade anything other than the ram on a laptop (which is most people's preferred computer) unless you have SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE with hardware

as for the price of the laptop, I don't know where you get your $200 figure. A laptop like that would be lucky to scrape 1.6 ghz

even chewing down the parts to have a standard 2.0 or more ghz figure (which was what league required YEARS AGO) , it would still break that $200 figure and you would have to assemble the parts and OS entirely on your own

I meant buy a second hand laptop. Surely you can find an older model that can run league respectably for 200 dollars.

Sometimes my computer won't load me in properly before the game starts though, and I'll sit at the loading screen an extra 10 seconds longer than everyone else...

Doesn't matter, Riot has been dedicated to making the game faster for the past season. I doubt they care if some people are late too lane if it allows the game to start faster and therefore end faster. Actually, players being late to lane might be an intention, so someone will be behind in lane, giving an advantage to another, causing a quicker snowball and firstblood.

People dislike how fast the game has become.

Riot: Lets make minions spawn after 35 seconds!

the obvious reason to this is to cater to the "net cafes"

which i highly disagree with that whole idea.. to pay to go somewhere else what u should have in your own home.

on the flip side i don't see it damaging the game in any way, in 95% of the cases its going to make no difference

plus it have the positive side effect of making Shaco mains cry about something so i an drink their item 3070

Morticianjohn1 votes

Oh no shaco actually needs a leash like most other jg in the game not Ivern

Sire Hippington2 votes

i don't mind lowering the starting time a little bit, but minion spawn at 35 is a bit drastic. Changeing it from the current 1:05 to 0:55 or even 0:50 would be fine, still enough time to not be stressfull and pull off some lvl shenanigans, but also a bit faster to action than now.

TheCheekySneak2 votes

This would put a big hamper on champs who need the start up time to function well or who have pieces of their kit time locked. Champs like Shaco or Heimerdinger now have far less time to actually set up their nests and certain playstyles of Maokai will suffer much the same. Of course I'm biased in this as well since my main is Bard, and his chimes are locked to spawning only at certain times and now he will no longer be able to pick up his third chime, or maybe even any at all depending on his luck or the leash at hand. I can't say I'm for this.

Ulquiorra01232 votes

Maybe players should stop taking a year to decide which of 2 items for their champ they buy.

The minion spawn is the least problem. The problem is with the minions that are super fast..ure talking about some prolonging laning phase? U just made games even more SHORT PACED and with this minion speed buff after one teamfight the game is usually done.Games wont last till minute 20. Comebacks...what comebacks? It doesn't exists. All towers need to get the buff like the first ones. And this minion speed buff is unhealthy.

  • U are giving 3 more "minor runes" to champions..and yet the towers(except the first one)remain same? Are u seriously tryning to destroy the game as much as possible?

Its horrible.

You cant leash and get to lane without missing the melee minions.

I play Illaoi and like to setup my tentacles where I want them. On live I can place 3. On PBE I can place one.

HaIlMonitor1 votes

I would probably get down-voted, but what do we need as much time as we do?

A lot of the time that people are "slow to start" is because they have to go pee or get a glass of water that they could have done in the 2 minute queue, or you know queued after...

My favorite games are the ones that someone gets in 2:50 late because they had to take a shit...

3TWarrior2 votes

/s because everyone monitors their bathroom schedule to know an exact average of when they "might" have to go? /s

there's also over-active bladder, kidney problems, high salt intake, over-consumption / over-drinking , diseases, spicy foods, non-adjusted foods,

and a ton more that someone could probably answer for having variations in bathroom schedules

the spawn time has been a rough window to allow for buy times, stategy discussion, erroneous circumstances, pee breaks and anything that might happen in the very beginning of the game so that you don't come back to your opponent several levels ahead with an almost completed item...
