why are bard janna and sona so unbeleivably squishy
super low base health armor and mr. its kind of discusting really.

They are supportive casters so their job doesn't really mean they need to be tanky....they are backline assistants woth various ways to aide their ally from behind them.
They all have heals/shields and sources of bonus movement speed, and hence should be able to get themselves out of trouble in the majority of situations if they position themselves appropriately.
Bard has a lot of escapes and the move speed on w. A chase in the jungle could go on forever with him if he lands the stun out of the portal lol.
Oh yea....with enough mana and cdr Bard can be almost uncatchable in jungle
so you basically want a ranged allistar, amazing insight.
no not at all. i just want to not get one shot by an adc with only a bf sword. how the frig are you suposed to walk in and sona ult if you DIE BEFORE YOU GET THERE
ok, for all intents I'll asume you're new to playing Sona, first you can't just walk up to someone and ult, you can't do that with any champion without heavy repercussions for that matter.
Second, given that you analyze a situation and figure it's ok for you to go in and ult you have 2 methods to do so:
1.- You flash and ult, this makes it so the enemy adc can't react since the casting time of Sona's ult is almost instant. 2.- E and then W, this will cover you from damage and speed you enough to get in position.
I must ask you to focus your attention on my first paragraph, if there's not an opening for you to go in, DO NOT just walk and ult, as a matter of fact, one of Sona's most dreaded mechanics is hitting a max ranged stun, the range is enough for you to be safe but you need to be able to hit the skillshot on it's hardest part to land.
You realize that Janna's entire kit is built around not dying, right? Bard is also pretty well off in that category.
Out of the three, Sona's the only one who feels really squishy.
But makes up for it with her range on her Q.
Q's base damage is fairly low if Sona doesn't make use of the AA portion, and her AA's are only 550 range: the same range as Vayne's kit.
Q's max range being 850 is also outranged by
fireballs,
axes,
cleavers, and
spirit fire.
Which is kind of sad. And also probably not tied to her innate squishness.
Perseverance is the more likely culprit, as that skill allows Sona to hide behind champions like Jhin, Nidalee, Lux, Ziggs, Caitlyn, and Xerath in team-formations while still being fairly useful. Healing and allied buffs give a ton of effective range.
Very true....plus her multi person stun.
Two reasons.
To discourage using them in solo lanes (particularly Janna and Sona for this one)
They are already very hard to kill just by sheer kiting ability.
: Backline support who's very mobile and pulls her team towards her. Has a ton of cc options and a shield. If she gets caught, she deserves to be punished.
: A bunch of escapes if he has a wall or two nearby. He also has 2 options for cc.
: There was a time where she had long-lasting aura effects that reached up to 1000 units away. Now that she's forced to be significantly closer than other mage supports, I have no idea why she's this squishy.
Because they are more utility supports than tanky engaging supports
