I figured out the REAL problem with riven, It isnt that shes broken or OP in anyone way, the real problem is she has no early game counters... think about it

somebody plays garen? you play teemo and win

somebody plays teemo? you play jayce.

The problem with riven isnt riven herself but the lack of a champion that can counter her early on.

There are PLENTY of champs who can pit off against her late game, but by that time shes generally ahead in gold and will wreck your face in. and SHE ALWAYS can contend with you/shut you down in lane

there isnt a single champ that can shut her down.

thats the problem we need somebody who can shut her down

Malphite Garen Teemo Quinn Fiora MonkeyKing all counter her more or less. The issue with Riven has more to do with how safe her kit is and how hard she crushes those she counters. Basically her counters are all soft counters while she is a really hard counter to a lot of champs. That's the real issue with Riven.

they arent counters if they have no advantage over her... if they have a disadvantage over her they are NOT A COUNTER

now say one of them had an ability to say cancel her ult or something or maybe prevent her from using a shield, that would be a counter because its an advantage against her, but obviously the the player will need skill

Huh? All those champions have an advantage against her. That's why I listed them as counters. They are not hard counters however. And that's probably the real issue because Riven absolutely is a hard counter to many champs.

So you mean like Garen?

Because word on the street is that he now counters her early and late.

Malphite also counters Riven.

Dude They are her counters. Just because they are her counters, it doesn't mean it's an automatic win. There is room for out play, lots of it because of the nature of her kit.

Counters doesn't mean you always lose. counter just mean you have an advantage. Garen, Darius, even Nasus are her counters if you play it right.

darius: old or new? old wasnt a counter in fact riven could out dmg him easily, new idk havent played him

Susan is not a counter: she can easily out poke you and stop you from farming your Q and constantly dash away to avoid your dmg/get in close and end you

She does have counters. The problem is, those counters tend to scale a lot worse and she can survive in lane well enough if she is smart

and if she can survive in lane and they scale alot worse then those ARENT counters. counters would be somebody who can dominate her in lane and in late game

IE counter...

such as ranged counters melee but melee dmg counters mages

Both. Garen is too tanky to burst down, and has amazing sustain. Garen can usually trade evenly, too, and even if Garen loses trade, he can just sustain back up and outsustain Riven.

The problem with Riven is that she needs to build ONE THING. AD She gets damage from AD, Bonus damage from AD, Shield from AD

Then there is the stupid mobility. You can have upgraded boots and she only has normal boots and you can have a movement speed boost power and she will catch you.

There are some people at Riot that have no clue how to balance this game. They are the ones that made the Sated Dev and champs like Riven.
