-his Q does damage -his W does damage -he has short ranged mobility -his R does damage -he has a shield.

Now this is just reaching. The whole Riven2.0 is justifiable because -His passive is an auto attack enhancer that becomes ready upon using spells -His Q is a triple cast ability that knocks people up -His W provides CC -His E provides his defensive stats, and is also a short ranged dash that sets up his combos -His R is a self buff that increases AD.

Lets look at riven shall we? -Passive is an auto attack enhancer that is ready after using spells -Q is a trple cast ability that knocks people up -W provides CC -E is a dash that sets up combos and gives a shield -R is a self buff that increases AD.

This post of yours was just terrible. It's very easy to see the blatant similarities between aatrox and riven.

How seriously you took his post is actually just hilarious as is and says a lot for the community. XD

They might be more alike than the average champion is to another, but they still aren't really that much alike and Aatrox is more of a juggernaut while Riven is a fighter or even assassin at times, so the playstyle is totally different either way.

-Aatrox passive has a far longer cd (Riven's has none), does % max hp, grievous wounds + shield debuff. Reset by skillfully hitting spells rather than just casting them.

-Aatrox Q roots him in place and he has to hit them at a range for 3 mini knockups max, whereas Riven Q dashes her 3 times, can go over walls third dash, and has a longer knockup.

-Aatrox W and Riven W are nothing alike besides the fact that they are roughly categorized as "CC" and both interact with the kit entirely differently.

-Aatrox E has 2 charges that are way way shorter than Riven, used mostly to reposition and gives him Deaths Dance style lifesteal passively, whereas Riven's E is a shield and larger dash straight up.

-R is where they are most similar, but whereas Riven's is used to go in and clean up and execute, Aatrox is used to initiate and can resurrect himself depending on how long he lives in combat. The damage increase is kinda similar but the ways you use them are insanely different.

Some other notes.

-In general, Riven is hypermobile ice skater champion while Aatrox has really low mobility and depends more on his team to catch people, like other juggernauts. -Riven's animation cancelling mechanics are wholly unique and are required to know for a high level Riven player, differentiating her from every other champion. -Aatrox is built more on starting fights and dishing out tons of damage over a long period, landing CC for his team, coming back to life, and hurting everyone whereas Riven is more pick focused and a more in and out style of player. She'll die way faster than Aatrox if she dives in first.

Overall I don't like the oversimplification people do to say champs are exactly like other champs. It happens every time a new champion who isn't entirely unique is released, and even entirely unique champions get it thrown at them. (Zoe isn't Nidalee, one long range skill shot doesn't make that true) Aatrox and Riven both have triple Q casts and even though they do completely different functions, people just stretch all the other spells to make a narrative that they're literally the same and it's dumb as shit.

The way you worded it makes it apply to nearly everyone, so good job there. Urgot 's Q is an aoe slow, his W is his main damage tool, making him extremely tanky and much unlike riven's. His E is a short ranged Singed dash, and i understand his ult is also an execute like Riven 's but his works extremely differently and has much more potential than hers. Also urgot counters riven. I believe your opinion comes from diving both of them and failing because of their major tankiness and cc. No offence meant personally, just pointing out the differences.

On top of not understanding the irony, you are seriously answering to a joke [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Q: 3 activation skill with knock up and AoE damage;

W: The only exception since it's unique;

E: Small dash

R: Bonus AD Buff for a duration. Use before engage.

Combo based AD champion with no resource usage that highly depends on CDR.

Isn't this really similar to Riven for you?

I actually laughed because this is 100% true. This is just a mini rework of riven.

Riven Q: Dash 3 times and knock up Aatrox Q: Dash 3 times and knock up

Riven W: Hard CC Aatrox W: Hard CC / Displacement (This is probably the only 'new' thing that Riven doesn't have.

Riven E: Dash with a shield, very small dash. Aatrox W: Dash 2 times, instead of a shield you get lifesteal. Also a steroid, which is basically Rivens passive but tacked onto an ability that can be used twice.

Riven R: Gain an AD Steroid and ranged capability, particularly to execute Aatrox R: ^ ^ ^

aatrox doesn't even have dashes on his Q. it's 3 successive knockups. nothing more.

lol is every single hard cc in the game copying riven?

lol both of them being dashes with benefits makes them a copy?

that does literally nothing you said it did.

“WOW HE’S EXACTLY LIKE RIVEN EXCEPT X, Y, and Z are different and he scales on total AD, and also they have different passives and mechanics and also [trails off]”

So, not Riven, really.

If only every Q from Riven was a knockup. Btw Aatrox's Q isn't a dash. ;-;

My first thoughts exactly: Riven with Camille hitboxes

I feel very confident that his art was just thrown together in the past few months and they've been working on this kit for ages, for a Riven rework.

Riot has kept concepts for kits on the backburner until a later date before, so I can only assume they decided to give this to Aatrox because it seems very fitting for his looks.

I can see all of the changes working in Riven's kit. With Riven's new lore, her passive could have been a tiny shard thrown from her sword, akin to his ranged attack that he now has. The rest of it is basically the same, with a lot more counterplay added to it, for example with his Q, and E. Riven's shield was one of her most hated things for a long time, they even went as far as to lower the duration for a sizeable nerf. Giving her more mobility options while giving her sustain instead of a flat shield is easier to stun and kill, then flat HP added to your champion for a short duration(thats basically what a shield is)

His R is a steroid, and again, as is hers. The only concept in that ability that doesn't add up is a revive, but designing it as a damage shield when fully charged instead of a pending GA would make it fit more, and keep her shield, ableit at a much higher number value as its tied to an ultimate.

This is all obviously speculation, with no evidence what so ever to back it up, I'm just a dreamer and Riven's been my main since she was released.

100% giving the new Aatrox a go, seems much more fluid than before.(i played a decent amount of him in s3-s5)

Never seen that, thank you.

This is why separates him from riven. Riven is far more mobile and has faster attacks. Aatrox has similar combo-y styles but just bigger hits. <3

This should be on M&G, but mods are too busy banning people for hurting their fee fees.

I begun the game in 2k16, this dude became my first main, first M7 etc... I really love the design the idea to have the wings only with ur ult is cool and the sword is cool too but, his name is aatrox i'm not sure but i think it means AUTO ATTACK ROX and when i saw him on pbe i just saw a guys who do spell like riven, miserable dash and some other things like that, where is the rox of auto? I loved to play my aatrox with my attack speed and some tankyness to survive tho but if this dude just do spells and don't need to rox auto, better rename it, no more Aatrox.... so i'm a lil bit disappointed but i did not played the champ yet so i'll wait bur for now i'm disappointed

Riven is the foundation of combo Champions, in a sense Riven innovated champion design, and many Champions since are based on similar concepts as Riven. Perhaps we could say the Aatrox is one of the more uninspired designs, they aren't going for anything crazy, just working off established stuff.

SanKakU1 votes

I think it's great that we get more champs that are similar to each other. We have Lux and Morgana and they are pretty similar to each other. Now brawlers can enjoy different versions of the same concept just like mages can.

Twax Blunt1 votes

I do not know why Riot needs to change Aatrox. When they remake other champions like Warwick, or Ryze, they keep their play styles. Aatrox is changed literally trash again. I just feel like Riot really do not like Aatrox or they wanna try new thing which will fail. I do not know what Riot wants anymore. Even his q is slow and cannot even move. Bronze players can also avoid that. Seriously... Riot needs to stop this update
