Did you know that some people actually believe that AP items are superior to AD items?

Some kind of explanation behind this statement. I might be off from LoL but that statement is the most ludicrous thing to even bother believing.

I saw the comment and couldn't believe it.

No wonder Riot has a clear AD bias when the players themselves are absurdly biased.

There is one guy in the spanish forums that complains everyday about "AP damage is too strong". Not even damage in general; only AP damage.

Here's the thing:

The sheer amount of pen offered to ap champs is fucking mind blowing. It doesn't take much gold to start landing true damage on people if they don't invest in MR to keep up.

I like to keep it neutral, but 33 flat pen + 40% pen is fucking strong. You can pen a SHIT ton of, if not all of, someone's MR off of about 7k gold.

In a vacuum, ap items give just as much if not more secondary effects than ad items. The reason why ad champions are stronger is because ap ratios have been going down over time while ad ratios have become more prominent.

There is definitely an underlying design mismatch. However, I can easily see an argument for turning back champion design back to what it was in earlier seasons which would mean more spells get ap ratios and less spells getting ad ratios.

You’ll never agree because you can only see it from your perspective. Try playing a non mage while the AD player plays a mage and you’ll change your tone.

I don’t see 6 AD items giving 60+ AD and 300+ health. Mage items give an absurd amount of stats to compensate for being entirely spell oriented, but most AD champions are also spell oriented these days.

AD champs have one item to counter mages - and it does it extremely well - but mages have like 6 to deal with AD champions or universal damage in general. Opinions differ depending on player skill, because the mages need to be smart enough to actually build the right items and know how to use them to succeed, but when they do they’re so hopelessly oppressive they shape the entire meta - look at Swain before his huge rebalance.

Last time AP was overall stronger than AD was when Zhonya and rabadon were 1 item.

And after AD item rework the AD > AP gap got wider.

Then with ~~mage ~~ support class rework AP gone to shithole and hardly bothered to crawl out of.

But AD items are far superior i cant think of why AP would be?

AD has so much penetration items Good defensive items such as hexdrinker and GA - Damage and armour and good utility tied with that such as edge of knight as well as deaths dance denying burst further STERAKS ?!?! also the AD items can be very efficeny - 1100 for a dirk!? 1300 for hexdrinker? as well as build paths

everyone who is telling you actual facts is getting downvoted, so thats prob why you never see any reasoning behind it loool

Long ago the two damage itemizations lived in harmony. AP was expensive but compensated by utility and upfront damage. AD was cheaper but inefficient. Then everything changed when the balance team thought they could bring balance.

It's always been like this. People for some reason believe AP is superior and every time you tell them how wrong they are they bring up one thing: item 3157 One thing that has been nerfed into the ground so hard it's only bought because you absolutely need it to survive anything.
