talyah has no wall pins her passives only works out of combat nor do you need it when you can ride on top of the wall talyah does not gain more shots of her q from walls

So does Anivia wall suck? Or how about Trundle pillar? I mean neither of them have wall pins.

Neither of those abilities are ults on a long cd. Annivia uses her wall to keep enemies trapped in her ult while Trundle uses his pillar to slow enemies and catch up to them. Talyah has no synergy with walls other than her passive which doesn't work in combat.

Her ultimate is amazing. You can gank and block off exit paths. You can roam bot lane and block off the exit path towards the enemy turret, they would have to flash.

You can separate team fights. Her ultimate is awesome/

her ult and passive need to be reworked, but other than that i don't think she sucks. i like the idea that i can play an earthbender

Why? She has a unique movement speed boost that makes roaming through the jungle faster, and a ult that can completely seal an enemy team inside. They interact well together, as you can wall over to bot/top/mid, wreck them(unless they flash or are fed enough to win a 1v2 with no escapes) and use your passive to make it back to your lane without loosing too much cs or ex. Sure neither of them do damage, but they both play into her fantasy of a earthbender nomad.

She looks more like a support than a mid laner.

ult used to block off adc and support from retreating to tower, she has a knock ability that can push them any way she chooses, and she can harass and slow.

This ult may be one of the best ways in the game to force an opponent to use Flash when they try to retreat. She can cut off the entire base if she wants to. Imagine having a Taliyah split-pushing bot or top lane while her team sieges mid. She can use her ult to simultaneously protect her own position and force the enemy team to make very difficult decisions in mid.

but. Aurelion sol is good?

I like her kit. WhIle I don't agree with the claim that she's a traditional mage, her kit makes her incredibly mobile and able to hunt runners down and quickly annihilate them.

i really thought her ult was going to be some sort of earth shattering aoe that truly messed up terrain for a while and gave her more dmg since there will be more rocks and stuff to throw. guess not

actually, this is correct. her ult would be an amazing ability if she was a melee champ. you coudl split the enemy team right down the middle while engaging on a specific opponent.

but since she rather prefers to stay at range, its extremely situational.

you can pull off some good plays with it in ganks, but it doesnt really feel like a part of her kit since the ult doesnt interact with her other abilities in any shape or form or would be part of her combo.

furthemore, she seems to have very low kill potential since she has to work with 3 damaging abilities.

makes her 100% more of a control mage instead of a damage oriented mage.

Why is it that Riot calls Talyah a traditional mage, and yet she has a Ult that does no damage, has +5 ward comments, and has a knockback she can guide.

I think Riot is fooling themselfs a bit, they must have intended to make a Mage / Support char, but ended up making a Support / Mage char.
