Anyone else find it funny and ignorant when people say X class isnt supposed to do Y?
So many times these arguments are thrown around this boards:
-Tanks shouldn't be doing damage they should tank
- Assassins should/shouldn't 100-0 someone when not fed
- ADCs shouldn't be able to 1v1 or kill any melee for that matter as i've seen countless times mentioned
- Mages should have more mana
- Juggernauts should kill you 2v1 (i've even seen people mentioned you should need 4 people to take down one juggernaut)
- If a melee champ touches a ranged one, whether its a mage or an ADC they should instantly die
- Supports shouldn't be doing damage
- Hypercarries shouldn't be able to carry before 6 items (again i've seen people saying ADCs should become only viable at 30-40 minute marks, like dead serious)
etc.
There's so many of these arguments thrown around here im not even going to try and name them all, you've all seen it. Now im not saying sometimes some class/item/champ isn't super weak or super broken,im not talking about specific champs,i'm talking about this broad generalizations that people at the boards throw around and act like its some sort of universal rule that the game is breaking on its own.
This will maybe come as a shock to many people, but this game isn't alive with a mind of its own,it didn't get out of control and is now breaking rules left and right.
People design this game, they can make every champ look like a poro tomorrow and you would win the game by chasing poro-snax around the map. Yes there's a lot of bullshit things in the game, like Yasuos WW (had to mention it),yes sometimes champs get out of control, get too strong,or even too weak, sometimes the game doesn't feel fair, like when during Tank meta you can end up doing the most damage going full defensive build with a tank,or when an ADC kills an Assassin that came to gank him,or when Duskblade used to deal 40% of your HP just with the proc, but this are all outliners, and Riot fixes them and tries to balance them.
If Riot didn't want someone like
to be good at 1v1 she wouldn't have the kit she has,and she's one of the oldest league champs,so its not like this is something new,you can like it or hate it,but if they didn't want it in the game it wouldn't be there, you can't say X shouldn't do that if they're designed to do that, they're maybe doing it too good, and again you may be right,or maybe not, maybe they're doing perfectly as intended by Riot and you just happen to not agree with it,which is okay,we all do,i'd like Yasuo deleted from the game, but tough luck.
But you have to realize this game has something like 120 champs in it. You can't say champions of an X class should all be the same and play the same and interact with other champions the same way.
I mean you have
and
for example, both are mages, but they play so much differently, you can't expect Xerath to respond to some closer range threats as good as Ryze can,and you can't expect Ryze to deal damage at the range as Xerath can,or
and
both are tanks, but one is designed to protect allies, while the other one is designed to go head first into the enemy, you can't expect them to function similarly just because they are both "tanks"
And lastly
and
,both are ADCs,but one is designed specifically to be good at 1v1,to be mobile,to counter melees, and the other one is designed specifically to be a longer range AOE damage dealer that shines in team fights, now again that doesn't mean that if you mess up and miss everything JInx shouldn't still be able to kill you 1v1,but she's gonna have a harder time than Vayne.
This is one of the reasons i'm disappointed RIot removed more specific classes from the in-game client, like Slayers,Wardens,Vanguards,Artillery Mage, etc. It gave more clarity about what champions do,how they play, what are their strengths and weaknesses.
Do you have any stories about people telling you what your class should or shouldn't do?
